The Communitys Official Vehicle/Vehicle Idea Thread Version 1.5 (Now with constantly changing polls!)
d.walker43 replied to d.walker43's topic in Suggestions
Thanks for the ideas guys, ive added most of them to the OP. keep it up! -
This may be implemented when vehicles are, because there has to be a way to sit in the vehicle. of course then there will probably be people driving chairs around.

Hey guys, I know boats are already confirmed, but I have some ideas that revolve around them. I think boats are a good idea to add, but they need to add some other things for them to be useful. I think if boats are added they need to add some large rivers that go inland. not only for boat transportation, but to divide up the map a little bit. you should not be easily able to cross the river by swimming, don't know how to prevent it but it should be very hard. only way to cross should be boat or a bridge, but the bridges would most likely become checkpoints being operated by bandits/clans that require a fee or something to pass. would add another fun goal to the game. Also think that there should not be military boats, I don't want people going around in massive 10-man boats with rockets and machine guns. They should almost all be civilian fishing boats, pontoon boats, maybe some jetski's and kayaks and such too. No military, if there is going to be big boats make them like large civilian yachts or something. I military just has to be included, don't make it loaded with guns and such. it should be very hard to obtain one if they are added. boat trailers, these could be hauled behind civilian trucks and such to move boats around across land obviously. you would obviously want one for your specific boat, or else it would obviously not work well, and the boat could fall off. I think if some water-side towns and cities were added, these could include docks and ramps for putting your boat in or out. these places would also be a very common place for boat trailers to spawn. This is all ive got for the boat ideas, eventually I plan on making a post like this for land vehicle ideas too, ive got some ideas for them too. Thanks for reading.

Thank you both. I re-read you guy's argument and honestly, what were you arguing about? It seemed that you were just insulting each other because you have different playstyles. and that's ok. Anyway, thanks for not letting it get out of hand. if your both still pissed, you can always go duke it out in private messages :P Lol have a good day guys.

Ha, I laughed at this when I saw it, because I have only encountered 1 friendly group in my whole time of playing. I do indeed play solo, I may join a clan soon but as of now I have played solo the entire time I have owned the game. I agree its more of a challenge to go solo, but it has advantages too. Also, could you and AP_Norris please don't let your debate get out of hand, I saw he called you a "terrible person" and I can tell it might get bad. I don't care at all if your debating/arguing but don't let it get out of hand and spam up the thread, not to mention its just stupid. Thanks to both of you.

I agree with islands. also, I heard about the water physics and 2 solutions came to mind. 1: new engine might be able to help this? not sure, but I would think it wouldn't be terribly hard to make flowing water. 2: the water doesn't neccesarily even have to flow, just make a huge version of the current in-game creeks. It would be hard, but when your talking about game development, what ISNT hard?

I never said it would have to take up the whole map. Make it curve around and such so that you can get around the map, but have to go extremely far out of your way to get there. Also, its kind of the point. In a zombie apocalypse, you shouldn't be able to just sprint at full speed through towns and forests and such without attracting attention. this would make people actually plan out their journeys a bit more, you would have to actually think about how your going to survive a supply run. Remember also that when land vehicles are added, you will be able to get around that way. you could just go crashing through the bridge choke spots. its wayyy to easy right now to get supplies and such, it wouldn't be this easy in reality. It wouldn't be a matter of who had the best guns, while that would influence it im sure it would be a matter of who knew more about survival.

I see someone posted the pic of Dean presenting the roadmap, it has what I think is a pretty solid confirmation on it. However, I think if boats are added they need to add some large rivers that go inland. not only for boat transportation, but to divide up the map a little bit. you should not be easily able to cross the river by swimming, don't know how to prevent it but it should be very hard. only way to cross should be boat or a bridge, but the bridges would most likely become checkpoints being operated by bandits/clans that require a fee or something to pass.

Is this the most annoying thing in the game?
d.walker43 replied to therunningmanz's topic in Gallery
haha, lol. bet you were wondering why people were talking about the weather and survival and all that :P -
Other people have been reporting this too. not only that, but gunshots are way to quiet to begin with. in reality you can hear a high powered rifle from several miles away.

I don't see why people are saying dayZ isn't that fun.
d.walker43 replied to OptimumVision's topic in General Discussion
yea, same here. the ones complaining are either the trolls, little'uns, or the assholes in general. the ones that insult the people like us saying we are wrong and *insert random cuss word here* are the really annoying ones. -
Considering playing on 'merican servers
d.walker43 replied to hiniberus's topic in General Discussion
If your just across the pond over in Britian, you should be fine lag-wise playing on a 'murican server. Im an American and ive played on servers from countries that are about equal distance away, and ive been fine. my ping usually stays about the same no matter what server im on. -

...because you were the one asking why the weather thing was in the game. that was my response. -

its called a "survival" game for a reason. if you don't like it, go play COD zombies like the rest of the squeakers. -
true, everything you said. I think that the problem would simply be fixed by making the grass taller. in a real field/pasture, grass is sometimes several feet tall. very easy to hide in.
-
I actually suggested something like this on forums no to long ago. I said how it should be made as real as possible, in order to fix a car or something you should need to either know basic knowledge of it or look it up. It should obviously still be do-able, but very realistic. not hard, but realistic. My man reason for these thoughts at the time was that if I have some prior knowledge of survival, hunting, vehicles, etc. I should be able to use that to my advantage in-game. Good to know others think the same way.

Good ideas. I really like the expand the map and big city ones. However, expanding a map is harder than It sounds. if done incorrectly, it would just stretch out the current map, making all of the buildings and such super stretched out and terrible looking. The big town is a great idea too, I think place it in the far North-West corner. would be awesome to include some bigger buildings, make some actual skyscrapers in this city. I have 1 idea I would like to add, which is this. Include a large river or 2, once boats are added this will be their primary way of getting inland. make it very hard or impossible to cross by swimming. add some bridges at the towns and such, these could be used as choke points by a group wanting to defend a location. Bandits would be setting up border patrol here, and requiring an entry fee or something to get in. we need some more waterways, right now finding a pond or creek is rarer then finding a gun.

Listen, I know you said to not whine and complain, so I will try my best. but I disagree with you about the tank/carrier/BTR thing. Remember the survivors of an apocalypse are probably the genetically immune, not the guys with the best guns and shit. So these are most likely average citizens here. Sure, an average citizen can shoot a gun, maintain a simple vehicle like a bike, hunt for food, etc. However, an average citizen probably would not be able to fix a vehicle of this complexity. I personally would be fine with it, as long as the cannon and machine gun were not included. Honestly, I think in a post apocalyptic scenario there would be a whole lot more people driving pick-up trucks then tanks and carriers and such. I have the same thoughts on helis/aircraft, they should be incredibly rare and not include guns, be used primarily for transportation. Also, I personally would rather have a pick-up truck or jeep or something then a vehicle like this. A, it would be a lot easier to get running and B, it would be a whole lot faster to get from place to place. I think military vehicles should be included, but not tons of BTR's and tanks and such, I think that having a hum-vee with a working LMG should be a HUGE status symbol. Heli's and stuff should be so rare that people should doubt if they exist. Anyway, that's my thoughts. thanks for reading.

Alright. I try to not complain, and have a lot of patience. But im starting to get sick of this. If you are geared up the game is great, but as a fresh spawn it is nearly unplayable. Im trying not to whine about this, but something needs to be done. Ive been a fresh spawn for nearly a week, and died several times a day in this time. Why? because zombies are still broken. I ask that this please take priority over other things being worked on, as it is probably one of, if not the most important aspect of the game. It is a zombie survival game after all. They are still broken in several ways. 1: spawn on spot of previous death or very close to it, very quickly. 2: still go through doors and walls, not as often but still do. I will lock one inside, then continue looting and 5 minutes later the same zombie is back. 3: melee is still broken, this is pretty self-explanatory for those who have experienced it. There are other things too, these are just the big ones. Now, please don't respond with belligerent comments. I understand this is alpha, things are being worked on, I know. don't tell me to leave and come back later or any of that sh**. Im trying to be mature about this, so please attempt to return the favor. Thanks.

Standalone=game that will eventually be far better than the mod having more features, better graphics, more zombies, etc. but you have to be patient for these features. expected to be finished end of 2014 early 2015. Mod=if you want almost all of the features of the standalone but are fine with less graphics, more clunky-ness, eventually less features, but you want to play the finished game RIGHT NOW, the mod is for you.

zombies still respawning on death site within 10 seconds
d.walker43 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hi guys, im simply wondering if anyone has encountered this other then me. zombies are spawning right on top of their dead bodies, listen I like a challenge and the-realistic ness of facing a horde, but having them spawn before my very eyes just isn't right. I ask that this bug please be looked at and fixed sooner than later. I was running to Balota and my character got thirsty, so I went and made a quick stop in a small village to find some pops. 3 zombies came running at me. I shot them all with a B95, took care of them rather quickly, and went on my way looking for water. then, another zombie hit me from behind. killed it. more came. killed them. now I was getting concerned, normally you don't encounter like 8-10 zombies within a 5 minute period. I was bleeding at this point, and I didn't have a lot of ammo left for the B95. I couldn't stop to bandage, because they just kept coming. Now, normally I would be perfectly fine with this, this is what a zombie apocalypse should be like. however, it should NOT be zombies spawning literally on top of their comrades bodies. I probably took down a good 30 zombies, but my screen was fading quickly and I was running low on ammo. I ran into a house and closed the door. 4-6 zombies ran through the door, and I was hit a few times. All of a sudden, the dreaded black screen with those dreaded words "you are unconscious" appeared. after about 30 seconds the last word changed. I understand "this is alpha" and all that, ive been here a while and know and understand that. but this bug needs to be fixed. its not a gamebreaker, but its pretty close. Thanks for reading. -
zombies still respawning on death site within 10 seconds
d.walker43 replied to d.walker43's topic in Troubleshooting
I know. it was good there was a challenge, but it also needs to be a do-able challenge. if I would have kept on surviving and killing, there would have still been plenty of zombies after I killed them. when they are endless it isn't even possible. -
hi guys, I recently found one of the bandanas that can be tied around your face and thought to myself "this looks badass." then I died. found another one next life, and it was a normal one that could not be tied. My question/suggestion is this. why cant ALL bandanas be tied around the face? they are literally identical except for the color. it also would not be hard to implement, the mechanics and items are both obviously already there. Anyway, that's my idea. post feedback below. thanks.
-
I understand. What I am saying is that some of the things being talked about myself and many others already know how to do in real life, so I shouldn't need a magic book to tell me how to do something I already know how to do anyway.

Couple of suggestions for better in game life simulation.
d.walker43 replied to ra1n_'s topic in Suggestions
everything in this video should be implemented, I love it all. especially the menu and such, makes the game look a lot more optimized then current menu. I think with the containers, they should be sort of like chests in minecraft, when someone is accessing them they should open/close.
