any updates for ETA of release?

I understand completely. What I am asking is do they have any idea when the beta/full release will be ready. I know there is tons of work left to do. In the 2014 roadmap they said they expect beta probably early 2015. If we only have 1 vehicle by then, then obviously we wont be in beta yet. what I was asking is when is it expected to be ready to roll and finished. sorry for the confusion.

Board games or Cards any one?

Board games, no. these would be very complicated to add all of the parts and make work correctly, not to mention each game would be different. Cards are a great idea though. Only would need 1 set of items and stuff, and thousands of games can be played with a simple deck of cards. Would add another thing to do, and might even help reduce KOS. Great idea, I would totally play some euhker (sorry spelling is atrocious correct me if anyone knows how to spell it =P) or poker with friends around the campfire. I think if cards are added, they should only spawn in whole complete decks, not like individual cards or something. would take too long to collect all of them, so for sake of gameplay they should only spawn complete.
  3. Yes, jerry cans would be far rarer then their smaller plastic counterparts. The small plastic ones are still pretty useful though, I mean I can almost fill the whole tank on my ATV with one of those, and it has a pretty large tank. Cars spawning with gas in them is good, that's where we would siphon it from. The siphoning sickness thing, after I thought about it some more, your right is pointless. For the sake of gameplay it should not be included.
  4. I don't think there should be a zone that is 24/7 snow or something. I do however, really like the idea of seasons that change with real time. Also, I think it would be cool to have storms that roll through. I know that it rains and there is occasionally thunder/lightning, but I mean bigger. There should be super powerful thunderstorms rolling through with high winds that could blow trees over, damage things, etc. There could also be snow storms that roll through, with conditions like you described. I think if a 24/7 snow zone was to be done, it should be in the very north part of the map, take up a decent amount of space, and like you said be very hostile and such.

Status Report - Week of 13 Oct 14

Sounds great, zombies finally getting some attention...however, why is the status report so short? wheres the standup notes? wheres everything else?
  6. I think that siphoning should probably be the most common/easiest way, but not the only way. I think that there should be a chance to find a jerry can or gas can in like a fire station, military outpost, mechanics once they add them, etc. I also think that at the gas stations spread around Chernaurus, there should be the chance that either you find a gas can or there happens to be just a little bit in the pumps. Also, I like the idea of possibly getting sick from siphoning, I don't think it should be fatal but it should make you throw up or something. Would make people actually think about it before doing it.

    Hello

^ | | What steak and pertaturs said.
  8. Before I start, I would like to make 1 thing clear. I understand that KOS will always be a part of the game. But right now it is out of control, simply because people get bored. My idea for this thread is us, the community, can compile a list of ideas/suggestions to help prevent and lessen KOS. By this, I mean what are some things the devs can add to the game to help lessen the amount of KOS out there? Any ideas are welcome. I will start off the list with a few ideas, the rest will be provided by you guys. This thread will be small at the beginning, as of right now it is under construction and needs support. 1: Endgame content-things to do after you are already geared up that will give objectives besides simply to kill. -base building-build a base to survive in (confirmed) -vehicles-get a vehicle of some sort running (confirmed) -generators-provide electricity to a house, base, town, etc. -more zombies-zombies actually be threat, make it near suicide to fire a shot in a large city (somewhat confirmed) - - - - 2:... Hopefully by what we come up with this thread can help give the devs some ideas, and help everyone in general to help prevent and lessen Kos. We all know it will never be gone, but right now it is out of control, simply because there is nothing else to do, and there is no punishment. Thanks for reading, and post any ideas you have! anything reasonable will be added to list!
  9. I like the idea of cars spawning crashed into trees, burnt, etc. However, I think the majority of vehicles should be salvageable. By this, I mean I could find a truck missing engine parts, only has 2 wheels, the body is rusted to shit, and the windows are all broke out, but it should still be able to be repaired. very hard, but do-able. I think that there should be about 15 complete cars on a server, not including gas. I like the idea of cars being remotely common, but gasoline being the rarer factor. gas would almost turn into a currency of sorts, clans would want large stashes of it, etc.

    invisible/non-existent loot?

Alright, at first I thought that the locations I visited were already looted, but I think it is more than that. For about the past week, I have been in the Cherno and Balota area looting. I have been at Balota for about 3 days, and every time I have spawned in there is not a single item at the entire airfield in any of the buildings. Not even a single can of beans. At first I thought that server hoppers must have been here before me, but ive been there 3 days and have yet to find a single item. Same thing has happened many times, in many different lives, and at many different places. Its as if loot is just not spawning there or it is all invisible/non-existent for me. Thought I would bring it to the attention of the devs and the community. Anybody know fixes for this, or has anyone else encountered it? Thanks.

Learning, and an Incentive For Real DayZ Fans

I like the idea of manuals in game for things, but they are walking a fine line. I think they should be a guideline, but you should not be required to find one in order to do something. For example, if I have real life knowledge of survival, or cars, or guns, etc. I should be able to use that to my advantage in-game. sure, the manual would show me a step-by-step on what to do, but If I can or want to try doing it myself I should be able to.
  12. Yes, that's why I think the grenade launchers, tanks, BTR's, etc. should be left out. most vehicles should be civilian, I think that for a clan to get a hum-vee with a machine gun on top should be a huge status symbol. I think a helicopter with a machine gun mounted to the side is about the maximum military presence of vehicles I would like to see. If there is airplanes and such, they should not include guns that are controlled by pilot. all of the guns, if any are included, should be only able to be operated by passengers. About 90% of the vehicles being driven/used should be civilian.

    Global events

Hi guys, I searched and there were only 1 or 2 threads mentioning this and they were out of date, so I thought I would bring it up again. What are the thoughts on global events? This would be events that happen across all servers, that everyone can participate in. Could have events like this on holidays, season changes, or even just random times. Could be sort of GTAish or runescapeish, with random events occurring that give some sort of reward to those who contribute. Or even have like on Christmas it be all snowy and cold out, and have some items like santa hats or something that can only be collected on those days. I know we have heli crashs and police cars and such, but I feel this could be expanded to a much bigger scale. and it would be awesome. Would give other things to do beside KOS or mountain-man it. What are you guys thoughts? keep responses relevant please, thanks.
  14. good, ill add it to list. also like the fact that the turret will be non-functional if added, as if it were KOS would skyrocket.
  15. where at on the map is this?

    invisible/non-existent loot?

I believe so, I havnt really paid attention to that but the majority of the ones I play on say persistence ON, when I was experiencing this problem I hopped to a few different ones to make sure it wasn't just the servers problem and for the most part the problem still occurred.

Blurry graphics for 3 days now(6 game hours)

I have had blurry screen after being wounded in some way. its a glitch but it is easily fixable. you can even fix it in-game while your playing. press esc. to open the menu. click configure. click video. this fixes it. I have no idea why, but for some reason once you click "video" (which doesn't change anything, it just opens the other options normally) it will magically fix it simply by clicking on it. Its strange, but it has worked for me pretty much everytime.

    Global events

Not necessarily, global events are in more than just MMo's. Think about games like GTA 5, BF4, and Warframe. Not MMO's, but they include global events. Also, what does the survival factor have to do with it? Just because there is no organized government or anything does not mean that there would be absolutely nothing going on. There could be a radio station that other survivors from a different country are broadcasting (npc's, but not people you could actually find), and it could give out missions. There could be a military plane that flies in to drop supplies, and the survivors can take the supply crates for their own use. The infrastructure of the world may have fallen, but there would be scattered military remnants and other survivors that would be doing things as well. I understand that it would be near release or even after release, but still think it would be a good idea. Thanks for the thoughts.

    Blood trails

Not to be an asshole, but I posted this like 2 days ago already...
  20. Hi guys, so I have an idea that would vastly improve the realism of the game. I think that health/blood loss should be based off of where damage is inflicted, and how much. This might sound confusing, allow me to explain. Right now, every weapon has a set amount of damage it does to players/zombies/animals, and that number depends on if you are hit in a limb, chest, or head. Your blood decreases at a steady rate, no matter how many times you have been hit/shot. This is how it works currently, and certain elements of this are great but others need some consideration. If you are a hunter in real life, you will understand this well. I'll try to explain it good for the non-hunters but please bear with me. The amount of damage/health loss should be based on if the shot/hit hits any important organs. For example, if I shoot a player in the chest but its low and is more of a gut shot, then it wont inflict as much damage. However, if I take out a lung or heart or other important organ, the damage should be increased signifigantly. Also, I think blood loss should be based on amount of times hit, and location of hit and weapon used. Example, if I hit a player in the leg 1 time, it will bleed at something around the current rate, maybe a little slower. However, if I shoot a player 2 times in the chest and 1 time in the ass, they will bleed signifigantly faster because there are more "drain holes". Also, how far a bullet or melee wound penetrates should be based on power of weapon and location. If I shoot a player right in the shoulder bone with a .22, it will hurt and possibly wound the arm but would not penetrate all the way through. But, if I shoot a player right through the lungs with a Mosin, it should penetrate the entire body easily, making for 2 drain holes and not just 1. This should also be based upon how much body it has to go through, if im shooting at a downward angle say it would be harder for it to penetrate, as it has more body to go through. My other idea that is a little different is tracking. I think that anything that is shot, whether that be person zombie or animal, should leave a blood trail if they are bleeding. Also should leave footsteps too, but im going to focus more on the blood. This sort of ties into what I was saying about the amount of blood loss and location and all of that. This would influence the amount of blood being left on the ground. If I barely winged a person or animal, they would leave a very faint or small blood trail. However, if I hit them in a key organ or I hit them multiple times, It should leave a very easy to track and large blood trail. Obviously, if I got a decent hit on the animal or person they would not run far, and would probably be found on the ground not far fro where they were shot. But, if I winged them or it was a gut shot or something, they could probably run a lot farther or possibly survive completely. This would make the game far more realistic. As I said, this may be complicated for some, but others may understand easily. I personally am a deer hunter, so this is almost common sense for me but I understand for others this may be pretty complicated stuff. I tried to explain as well as I could, if I need to clear something up please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

realistic ideas for blood loss, damage, etc.

Good to hear they are discussing it. However, I don't know about the drain hole thing. It might seem like you die faster if you have multiple drain holes, but are you sure its not you just being hit more and more? and you die of shock damage or whatever instead of blood loss? I never heard confirmation of that, if you have a source you could post a link to that would be great. Also, like the idea of multiple rags/bandages too. would help cut down on people having an endless supply.

    Nothing interesting.

I agree and I don't. I personally have suggested some new items and features recently, and instead of getting actual feedback I get people who say stuff like "who cares", "no", and "wait till beta". It seems like the community is beginning to give up. This game has great potential, and also believe me I know that it takes a long time to develop a game, but they need to pick up the pace a little bit. hire some extra workers or something.

    [Suggestion] Strong side, Weak side.

Makes sense. I don't like the idea of one always being weaker than the other. assuming if they did this they would make right hand be stronger, since majority of the world is right handed. This would be penalizing left handed people. Also, I honestly don't see the point of this whole thing anyway. What other games have these people played that have left handed shooting? In video game worlds im so used to right handed it would be awkward even though I am left handed.
