Artificial bait for fishing (fishing lure)

I know its not easy to program even something small in, I was saying it would be easier then a lot of the bigger suggestions on these forums. I also have no idea if the fishing works, as its so hard to get a fishing pole, bait, and a hook. I know its possible, as ive found the hook in-game spawning in normal houses. I don't even know how to get the pole or bait, will look into it then report back here.

Artificial bait for fishing (fishing lure)

Can we get a forum moderator in here to pass this on to the devs? its a great idea, and not something that's huge and would require a lot of work to add. It would make the fishing a lot easier. May I also suggest a tackle box that can be used as a storage container for fishing items? Do it exactly like the med kit, but only be able to store fish, fishing goods, etc.
  4. Well, I have 2 things to say. 1: I agree that the pace is a bit slow, however you have to remember Bohemia Interactive isn't a huge studio. They have little staff, so obviously things are going to go slower. 2: I also agree vehicles should have been a bigger priority, but these guys are right. I would rather have good, working vehicles then glitch buggy ones. Once they add vehicles and fix the problems with zombies/add more zombies, this game will be damn near flawless.

Ability to Store any weapon in a backpack

I like the idea of having the ability to, but not so easily. Maybe add a collapsing/folding stock as an attachment for m4 and other guns? This stock could be found just like any other attachment, and added to most guns to allow them to fit.

    Awesome New Hand-to-Hand Combat Feature

the stance itself looks cool, but when your running the arm looks stupid

What items can you use to skin a animal?

1: your right 2: what about the sks bayonet?

    lose the flashlight

I agree completely, I also have never used the flashlight and always am looking for a compass from the beginning. Also, if you were wandering around in the woods in real life you would be way more likely to have a compass on you then a flashlight. I support this idea.

to the friendly guy i shot

Well, I shot my first friendly guy. I was at the police station, idk what town, and when I came downstairs he was sitting there with his hands on his head. I quickly pulled out my mosin and aimed it at him, and demanded in the mic that he respond. I was asking if he was friendly or not, and he wouldn't respond. So I shot him, then looked through his stuff, only to find a can of beans and some rags. If that player sees this, im sorry. I shot him out of panic, as I had been killed earlier by a guy at the NE airfield who did literally the same exact thing I did. Except I was talking when I had my hands on my head. Anyway, what would you guys have done in this situation?

    Map loot markers

I agree, something needs to be done to make in-game maps worth something. I know it is slightly unrealistic, but why not show your location on these maps only? you cant see your location on dayzdb, but if you could in-game they would be worth keeping. First time I found one I was so excited, thinking I was gonna be able to find all the military bases and stuff easily. Was sadly disappointed.

to the friendly guy i shot

The first one makes sense, I didn't think of that. I did wait for a little while though before I shot him, I waited long enough that he would have had the time to quickly type "friendly" or something of the sort

Weapon condition, ammo spawns and bandoliers

I agree with everything you said completely, except for the ammo clips idea. You have to remember that in a zombie apocalypse, people most likely didn't see it coming. The military bases would have scrambled to get out and start shooting, they wouldn't have worried about picking up every single clip. same with all loot. otherwise you wouldn't find random items all over the floor of a house. Other then that though, all great ideas, would make guns more realistic and would reduce Cod Kiddies!
  13. I disagree with you on this, think about this. it takes a very long time to run across the map. most of the time you would spawn very far away from your tent, and most likely the bandit that killed you or somebody else would come along and loot it. it kind of ruins the point of storing things in it if it goes away anyway when you die. My idea is make it like a gravestone in Runescape. Give the player a certain amount of time, say like 15 minutes to run back to their tent and get the items before the tent disappears. During this time it can still be looted by others. Have no waypoint or anything showing where the tent is, so if you were in the middle of the woods it would be very hard to find.

    New building (hardware store)

I love the hardware store idea, but the pawnshop idea is even better! every town near me in real life has at least 1 pawnshop and hardware store, so they should be implemented. as you said the hardware store would have tools and lots of things used in crafting, the pawnshop would have mostly things you don't have a use for, but also occasionally spawn guns and other rare items, just like a real pawn shop would have. Great ideas guys!

Why is it so hard to install and run?

Hi there, you say that the standalone is 20 so you don't want to buy it, but do you know that in order to play the mod, you have to buy ArmA 2 and ArmA Operation Arrowhead? The mod itself is free, but the games needed to install the mod onto them or not. I know that in U.S. money, Arma 2/Operation Arrowhead are a total of $25, and the standalone is $30. so there is a very small price difference, I personally suggest standalone as its 1) easier to download/play and 2) it will eventually be way more advanced then the mod is currently and have way more features. as to your beta question, a beta a pretty much finished game, but not 100% finished and released yet, mainly so people can test out the main parts of a game. Dayz is currently in alpha, meaning that the game works, but does not have all features implemented yet, and they will be added later.

    an objective for the players

is that how a real life zombie apocalypse would be? would there be"minigames" scattered around so you could just take a break from surviving to go play them? the whole point of the game is to survive, that is the objective. we don't need to give it another one. Also, they plan on adding more zombies, this is one of rockets top priorities. If you really want to though, team up with friends and you can play your own minigames you invent (such as soccer once ragdoll is implemented) or come up whith your own objective (see who can run across berezino and back and live, or something stupid like that :) )

How long do you reckon SA will be like the mod?

almost nobody here has answered your question so I shall do it. I agree things move a bit slow, but you have to remember that Bohemia is a smaller studio with less staff. They said that the game should reach beta version at the end of 2014 or beginning of 2015. Vehicles are planned to be added in the 3rd quarter of the year, starting with simple stuff like bikes, ATV's, maybe some small cars. in the 4th quarter (so pretty much end of the year) they will get into advanced vehicles such as helicopters, planes, boats, trucks, etc. As far as I know, the roadmap for 2014 made at the beginning of the year is still somewhat accurate. Hope my answer helped  :P

    A bow slot

its a good idea, maybe include the crossbow and any future primitive weapons in this slot. however, its kind of unrealistic. You already have a melee weapon, a gun, and a backpack on your back, there really isn't room for much else. I agree that nobody wants it as primary weapon, but it just seems unrealistic to have that much stuff on your back.

How to avoid confusion when adding more ammo types

I agree with the gun description version, but putting in the ammo description makes it too easy :|
  20. Well, I guess then my question is what's wrong with the core game mechanics, and what do you suggest be done to fix it? No offense, but you cant tell us there's millions of problems with the game and then not tell us what.
  21. yes, the weapons mechanics for melee and zombie pathfinding do need to be fixed. I don't have a problem with the guns mechanics though. It would be kind of good if it would be, as you said, "insanely difficult" to kill hordes of zombies, as this will make you want to avoid them, adding more of a stealth element to the game. In a real zombie apocalypse, would you attempt to kill 15 zombies at once, or would you run/hide and try to pick them off a few at a time? This game is meant to be like a real zombie apocalypse, so I say the more realistic the better.
  22. Yes, your 100% right. human influence will always make the game be a great game or a terrible game. However, that influence doesn't have to be a threat. If the zombies numbers were increased dramatically and actually became a huge threat, the players would start to team up and help each other survive and fight the zombies. Obviously some people would still be bandits, which is a good thing, again making the game more realistic. The environmental factors will also make it more realistic, so that will help too :D

    release time for vehicles?

Hi, im simply wondering when vehicles will be released for Dayz Standalone. I know they aren't expected until late 2014, but do we have a more specific time yet? Vehicles should have been a big priority earlier on, as nobody likes wasting hours just to get from place to place. Any info will be appreciated, serious answers only please. Thanks!
  24. Well, I agree with you, however people will not be the "main threat". I saw the argument about biggest/main so im not gonna go there, but zombies should be more prominent then they are right now. It's a zombie game, not a people game. as you said, people will always be a threat, but the zombie threat needs to be the main priority.
  25. That's good to hear they are worrying about performance issues first and not just throwing them in there, I can barely run dayz and med settings as it is :P . Also, I really hope they will make the zombies more like what both of you said, it would make it way more realistic and also add more of a stealth element to the game.
