stopped at an apple tree to top up, clicked only twice on it (unsuccessfully), and noticed an apple on the ground. couldn't pick it up so I went over to it and opened my inventory, and there were 20 like apples on the ground there. my first thought was 'someone's just been here', but the server was empty... [edit] lol I just switched servers and SAME THING. same tree, pile of apples on the ground under it. wut

Are you concerned about Steam reviews?
Red_Ensign replied to Just Caused's topic in General Discussion
I don't look at reviews at all. I usually just go watch some live gameplay on twitch to get an idea what a game's like. -
I get the same thing. sometimes it's baby blue. happens with leaves like you pictured, and some tree trunks.
-
yeah it is silly the way it is, and everything else that's called 'jacket' shouldn't be worn as a shirt either. yeah and the clipping is annoying. hopefully they'll fix this when it hits beta in 2025.

Survivng the Impossible Spawn - My challenging feedback to those with the agenda of making PVE easier
Red_Ensign replied to BeaverProductions's topic in Gallery
that's fine if you know exactly where you spawned right away and know exactly where the nearest apple tree is, and can sprint immediately knowing where you are going. I see visibility is very good in your video. but there are times when you spawn and the visibility is VERY short (from heavy fog or heavy rain or both, and possibly nighttime) and all you can see is the trees and grass right in front of you and you can't even tell which way the coast is. you waste precious minutes going in a direction hoping to see some clue as to where you are. and some of us spawn only maybe 10 times in a patch and haven't played in months and don't know all the spawn areas by sight to begin with. in short, yes it's entirely possible to survive, if you know right away where you spawned and where to run and what to do immediately. it's not the rain that makes it hard, it's the fucking fog. and the bugs with fire. -
they're zombies. they don't just beat you down and walk away. gotta eat some brains.

was in a tent at the sobors and heard 'hey', and 'come out with your hands up' (good sign that I wasn't gonna die outright). didn't have my headphones on, so I scrambled to get them on and say something. it was one guy, but another soon appeared. the first guy did all the talking. he said they weren't gonna rob me because he knew how time-consuming it is to get all buckskin gear. and aside from the clothes I didn't have much on me to take. they marched me to a house and tied me up. I just complied and they didn't even bother disarming me. before they left he asked if I needed anything, I said I was good, and they just left me to untie myself. these were the only people I've encountered so far this patch, and they turned out to be decent. so a tip of the hat to those guys, whoever they were.

sticks are op. especially with a pumpkin on the end.

are you sure it's that guy that shot you? maybe he was just bait. -
find a rain coat as soon as possible and just wear it, even if it has less storage. more storage is meaningless if you die and lose everything. being hot goes away if you stand still for a few seconds, and being cold takes forever to go away. so definitely err on the side of being too warm. apparently standing under a tree will keep you dry in the rain too, so you'll just die from starvation instead of hypothermia. lol fill your empty pack space with firewood and and matches or a hand drill. you can always drop them later when you need space, but it beats standing in the rain scraping a tree while you're freezing to death. hypothermia happens VERY quickly, and death comes very quickly after that. can't stress that enough. a stick seems to be the best melee weapon against zombies. when you attack a zombie in melee (with the stick) he's staggered back a bit, and then he comes back swinging, but if you press ahead before he recovers or pin him against something he doesn't get a chance to attack you. carry extra rags - you will bleed a lot. leather (leather from animals) jackets have 9 slots now, and leather pants have 9 too. and the leather vest now has 12 slots. if you find wire, snares now seem to last for more tries and yield more rabbits.

I'm looking for a tan boonie hat, for fishing hook storage (tan to match my buckskin gear). don't have much military kit to trade (haven't really ventured much into those areas), but have a good assortment of non-military supplies. [edit] my public camp is up and running, for those who know where it is. server is wa 2-4. as always, don't take the barrels and don't attack other visitors.
-
yeah I had that happen with a cow I killed

dude needs english subtitles

I hadn't been reading anything about .61, so didn't know that zombies can sprint forever now. that was death #1. death #2 was hypothermia, which kills you almost as fast as bleeding out. tried building a fire, and nope. dead. I'm on life #3 now. early on I got a raincoat and a stick and a shit-ton of rags to stop all the bleeding, now that I know what the deal is. found a scoped blaze and two stacks of .308. looking for deer.
-
between the two, the fal. winchester is better for mid-long range. and blaze is really better for pvp than the winchester. winchester is more for deer.
-
Where are you Guys findings hunting scopes on 0.61 stable?
Red_Ensign replied to chrhein's topic in General Discussion
I have a spare, and I'm near gorka. I'll trade you for some (don't need much) of that .308. sending you a pm now. -
got caught in the rain as a new spawn (coulda switched servers, but meh) and now I'm hypothermic. in the last patch going hypothermic would kill you in 10 minutes even if you spent that whole 10 minutes in front of a fire - is that still the case this patch? when I log back in I just don't wanna waste 10 minutes looking at a fire if I'm gonna die anyway.
-
I think I'm gonna like it too. you can't just go afk in the woods anymore or quickly outrun a zombie and grab the phone before he catches up, so I think people with kids and wives and other interruptions are gonna die a lot and maybe get divorced. XD
-
is hypothermia still a death sentence?
Red_Ensign replied to Red_Ensign's topic in General Discussion
ok thanks for the replies. I'll get a fire going soon as I log in. just wanted to be sure it wasn't a waste of time. -
good illustration of why overhead view should be nerfed more

all the extra loot I've had that I've been giving away because there's so much (even on the coast) says you're lazy and spamming one place. get off your ass and go other places. you'll find things.
-
when you bring up the server list, it should go to your favorites first by default.

would've been impressive if it was your first shot. spamming and getting lucky once is kind of a waste of everyone's time and space on youtube. and... 3 jerks chasing down a freshie and killing him... you and your buddies are kind of a waste of 3 good player slots.
