they apparently split rented and unrented servers into separate hives. don't know how you got 4 characters though, unless some are 1pp or private. you're not the only person annoyed at this. I have buddies who have camps on usually different servers (because different time zones etc) and now it'll be a pain in the ass coordinating with them so I can have one character that can visit all the camps. yes I know you can usually tell by the name, but not always. a filter in the server list just would've been nice, and appropriate.

find a rope or some clothes to tear up. I killed a cow with I think 3 arrows last patch and yeah about the murdering yahoos, I suggest a voodoo doll

you'll find single tents absurdly close to a major looting spot, or giant camps so freakin far away from everything that only having a car would make taking their svd less trouble than it's worth. lately I keep my stuff at other people's camps. :-)

yeah that happens at dusk and dawn. you turn a bit and go blind for 10 seconds like you have a head injury. it's annoying as hell. I just find another server or keep looking down

just no. there's too many circumstances where you have to log out NOW with no warning, and real life happening shouldn't be a death sentence for your character. that's just silly. don't get me wrong - I like the IDEA. but just too many factors often give you no choice where and when you log out, and once logged out you may not be able to play again for days or more.

pewpewing other players just doesn't interest me, and it's not what I bought this game for. when I run into an unexpected stranger I either try talking or just run, depending on how he reacts to seeing me. while the survival horror aspects of this game get fleshed out, I entertain myself with 'missions'. mostly finding things for people and the occasional medical emergency. and I set rules for myself for roleplaying purposes, like no canned food and making zombie bites (when they make me bleed) fatal.

51 years old, with 2,793 hours played (zero hours pvp)

it should be a game where you have to make decisions: deciding what you really need to carry because weight has consequences. deciding if it's worth attacking someone because getting hurt has long-term consequences, and character death punishes you in some way. deciding if using a gun is necessary in a situation because ammo is so rare. etc etc. that's the game I'm hoping for.

shooting at people who were minding their own business isn't really "combat". most would call that just being a dick.

yeah someone 'traded' you some apples for your stuff. I've been doing that lately when I find someone's tent/truck (I give better than apples though). if I have time I spell out "HI" in chicken feathers or earthworms. :-)

rain's not nearly as deadly now as it was. hypothermia takes a LONG time to happen now compared to before, and doesn't kill you as fast as a snakebite anymore. get under a tree, build a small fire, and you'll be warm and dry in a matter of minutes.

you can easily keep yourself energized and hydrated without touching a single can of anything. hell, it's possible to get enough kiwis to live on.

pristine rock for trade. looking for fal mags or a smersh vest. must also be pristine.

there's a reason why skiing and then trying to shoot straight is an olympic sport. I'm sure it's because it's so easy.

I'm seeing a lot of tripods lately - I'll grab you one. haven't seen a pot in a while but I left one or two at mookie's camp a while ago - I'll go see if one's still there. going there anyway to drop another fal I found (seeing more fals than pots lol). [edit] annnnd of course now that I'm looking for tripods those are super rare now too. lol

finding antibiotics at a clinic would cure that in minutes. for a while I tested using a sewing kit to heal wounds and you get infected wounds pretty often doing that. you probably got infected by using rags that were dirty. only use pristine ones for bandages. you can make dirty rags pristine by using alcohol on them. I'm usually carrying antibiotics and charcoal tablets.

- only drink from wells, or water you've purified with water purification tablets - don't eat raw meat, burned meat, or the wrong (blue) berries - lol don't drink the alcohol. or the windex. or gasoline - basically same rules as real liife how to make a fire and cook: - knife in hand, walk up to a tree - take 2 bark, and 3 branches - with the knife, cut 2 of the branches into thirds (giving you 6 sticks) - combine 1 bark with 1 stick to make a fireplace, then add 4 more of the sticks to it - combine 1 bark with the last stick to make a drill firestarter - place the fireplace somewhere - put the firestarter in your hand and use it to start the fire - this fire will last long enough to cook 3 pieces of meat - put food (meat etc) on the long stick you have left and hold it to the fire - go to your inventory screen, and watch the meat - when a piece is cooked (the change is obvious), swap it for a raw piece - don't let it burn, because burned food may make you sick (smaller chance than raw but still a chance)

kill a chicken, make a fishing hook with the bones, and go fishing. endless supply of food.
