in streams and videos I keep seeing people going into their inventory while running and the character keeps going, but when I go into inventory (or get a message like 'cannot render stupid bike helmet that's nowhere near me') my character immediately stops moving until I'm done. obviously I'm doing something different. how do I get into inventory and keep moving? thanks.

I do, and the character just stops dead and won't respond to movement commands until I exit inventory. I don't know if this might make a difference, but I have movement remapped to the arrow keys...

all the people bitching about you combat logging are are all 'honorable' players who would think nothing of murdering you as you log in or out. funny, that. -
*shakes head* your problem is trying to sneak in. when they do notice you, there's still all of them left and you're in the middle of them. just don't. go in standing up and get their attention one at a time and AXE them one at a time. if you have to pull out a gun, you did something very wrong and you're about to make another mistake.

the other day I was letting someone try my bow and it wouldn't fire for them, but it would for me. so I made him his own bow and that worked. (alpha)

did you plug it in? :-p sometimes ammo that's dragged from a weapon, even though it's in the pack, needs to be 'ejected' before it can be used or combined with similar ammo. right-click on the ammo and see if 'eject' comes up as an option.

pretty sure walking itself is almost silent. I can walk up behind any zombie and split its skull before in grunts.

how do you die every few minutes without trying really hard to do so? -
take a canteen or water bottle, choose 'drink all', and when you're finished drinking your character ragdolls (falls prone as if dead) to the floor, and sometimes slides across the room headfirst. happens every single time without fail (so to speak) since the last patch. you mean this doesn't happen to you? or do you never drink from canteens?

when you ragdoll after drinking a canteen (alpha), it aggros every zombie nearby even if they can't see or hear you. try it.

Sometimes you have to go to extra lengths to find friendly people in DayZ. In this case I had to sing.

lol was waiting for one of them to shoot you in the face at the end. with a group that size, and especially in this game, statistically there had to be at least one kos jackass. nice try though - have some beans. -
