    Biggest Douche Bags

I just spawned, literally. I walked for about 30 minutes and was in Elektro when 3 guys filed out of a nearby house and surrounded me, all sparing camo clothing and heavy rifles. They shot out my legs and tied me up, then strapped a burlap sack over my head. I browsed the forums as they dragged me into the forest for 30 minutes. Then, they took off the burlap sack, shot out my legs again, healed me, filled my health, shot my legs again, healed me, stripped me clean, spun me around, force fed me rotten fruit, and then left me at a complete lack of means of suicide so I had to wander for 3 hours before I found a zombie to kill me. I just got off work. If you have encountered a douche bag of bigger proportions, I will piss my beans all over you.

    [Suggestion] Ringing in ears

It would be an inconvenience but it is something that seems logical to add. This would add a whole plethora of new items such as earbuds, earmuffs, etc.

    Methods of Response

Hello. I decided to create this to give new players primarily a rational and strategic way of meeting new people. As most new players know, KOS is abundant in this game and douche bags are a will-find. Socializing in DayZ is a key part of the game and its atmosphere, so as an experienced player, I want to share what I feel is the correct way to approach other survivors, and different styles of doing so. Method 1: The Methodical Approach The Methodical Approach is the most lengthy but effective way of approaching a player. This method should be used on survivors that have high tier gear and are at the level that they are at first instantly classified as a threat. As soon as you spot a player and use this method, you must secure a good distance between you and the player but one where you can easily keep an eye on them. You must be able to navigate without drawing zombie attention or the persons attention, which can be hard in urbanized or dense areas. There is no set time you should watch them before approach, but you want to get a feel for how they play. After using this method like I have for a while, you will find that even watching them loot can be a good tip on how they will deal with encountering you. Here are some things to watch out for: -Ignoring of loot. This can mean that they are out less for looting and more for combat. This accompanied with combing an area, not moving in one direction to determine set travel, can hint that this player is out for blood. -Firearm or weapon drawn and ready. -Full camo-clothing. As you use this method more often, you will find more ways of noticing if the player is hostile or not. If you determine the player is hostile, you should either extend your monitoring of the player to get a final judgment, or leave them. Remember, don't be to frantic to meet other players, it will get you killed. If you determine the player is friendly, find the best method to approach from a distance. Do not encounter them around a sharp corner or in close range. Preferably get in their field of view from down a street, across an airfield, etc, and 'q' 'e', which is the universal symbol of friendly play-style. If they respond, wait for them to run towards you, do not go towards them. If they shoot you, so be it. If they come over and begin speaking, then mission accomplished. Method 2: The Aggressive Response This is my least favorite method but is usable if you are in the city. Get in talking distance and call that you are friendly and tell them to holster their weapons. Use a tone of voice that demands authority so they feel that you are armed. They will either respond with hostility or with cooperation, which is mission accomplished. This guide was mainly for method 1 but if people want me to list out more methods I will. All in all, you dev's are doing a great job. We fully back you guys up!

Listing the caliber is unrealistic. It would be cool if they incorporated that into a skill where if you got a certain firearms skill the caliber would be listed in the guns desc. as you would have higher knowledge of firearms if you got a higher firearms skill. What are your thoughts on this.

What DayZ Players Say Before They Die

I always say "You messed with the wrong muchacho" and then switch to a dead travel to make the 1 hour trek to NWAF xD

Stereotype bout sums it up. I should have taken more into account that KOS'ers are not always fully kitted but can be fresh spawns with chopping axes. They are just more unpredictable unlike kitted players that I have had to deal with in the past.
  15. Anything but Logitech. They suck, and i know this because I use one. It was only $80 on black Friday. I would wait till a sale and get a Razer. I know its an overpriced and mainstream company but they are slick.

Not at all necessary. This is what bogs down development, useless suggestions like these.

    "Safe" zones

In DayZ, safe-zones should be non-existent. If players take over an area and call it safe due to heavy protection, that's another story.

    First Day of DayZ disappointment

Thats how it was for me. At first, I didn't find anyone, and when I did, I was way to happy to see them and trusted them to much. Guess what it got me? A black screen as well. Don't be so needy to find other players. You can get lots out of the game without social interaction. I personally made sure to secure 3-4 good guys to play with via Steam instead of foraging for other survivors in-game.

    Varied Foods (Non-Canned)

BEFORE YOU GO JUST ANOTHER FOOD SUGGESTION, PLEASE READ! Sorry for the caps! Ok, so I know most of you are going to blow this off as just another food suggestion, but just hear me out! Here is my plea! Stand up, stretch, and go to your pantry. What do you see? Well, I see boxes of cereal, Cheetos, chips, granola bars, 3 pack of soda, vodka, and an assortment of other things. And packed in the corner are 8-10 canned items. Look in your pantry. Post pictures if you have to. The point is, more common than not, houses are packed with non-canned food items. I know the can of beans has been the symbolic food item for DayZ since the old days, and I am not here to butcher that legacy. But I want to make a much more realistic proposal for food in DayZ Standalone. DayZ SA, even in these days of alpha hardship, captivates us all with its realism that will only expand as the game develops. So if we are going for realism, more non-canned foods are just another convenience for realism. I came up with this idea two characters ago. I was rocking camo clothing, a gasmask, and an attachment rigged M4 with 3 clips. I was hunting down another heavily armed player who had taken pot shots at me earlier on and had been in pursuit for 30 minutes or so. If you have TRULY been absorbed in a task, you would realize like me that "You are hungry" sometimes goes under the attention radar. But I finally noticed, quickly took a seat under a tree and popped open a can of spaghetti with my screw driver. I demolished the contents and then moved onto my next can. My screwdriver was broken. I sort of flipped. I quickly dashed into a nearby town and searched house after house. Yes, I must have found at least 15+ more cans of food, but through every place I looked I couldn't find anything to open my can with. After at least 45 minutes of searching, I found a can opener and plowed in, just as my stomach was about to kill me. Now here is how this should have happened if we where in the realistic zombie apocalypse. I was rocking camo clothing, a gasmask, and an attachment rigged M4 with 3 clips. I was hunting down another heavily armed player who had taken pot shots at me earlier on and had been in pursuit for 30 minutes or so. If you have TRULY been absorbed in a task, you would realize like me that "You are hungry: sometimes goes under the radar. But I finally noticed, quickly took a seat under a tree and unscrewed a bottle of trail mix, demolished the contents, unwrapped 3 granola bars, plowed those down, and topped it off with a can of beans, the most fulfilling part of my snack. Even though my screwdriver broke, there are plenty of other less fulfilling but still achieving foods to chose from. I engulf a few cans of soda and then go on my way, pursuing the prey. Again, I am not looking at this from the "I hate having the burden of opening cans and finding tools to do so" view, I am looking at this from the "If this was a real life situation" view. So here are a list of things that I feel would make this games foody-side more realistic and enjoyable. Trail Mix: The perfect on-the-go snack, packed with nutritious nuts and treats that will keep you going strong! Granola Bar: A small, energizing, honey-flavored, long-lasting granola bar. Beef Jerky A protein-packing chewy food stick of expired beef jerky. A bit stiff but still flavored. Packaged Donuts: Stale and crumbly, but they sure do bring back memories. Packs of Crackers 3 Types: Peanut Butter, Cheddar Cheese, and Whole Wheat. I had fun writing this and making a list, and I hope you guys are open to this idea! All in all, DayZ has lots of potential and you dev's are going a great job. My beans (and maybe soon my crackers xD) go to the development, and all the development, raging from the Forum Staff to Dean himself, the mastermind of this incredible game. Post your own ideas for non-canned food and put pictures!
