    I'll actually answer this question. Yes there is a full hive wipe- everything public and private will be wiped so after Wednesday you'll be a fresh spawn. Loot will be changing, jails (camo buildings), little guardhouses, humvees and vehicles that you can't interact with (military trucks, pick up trucks, tanks etc) won't be spawning loot. There's a cap on the number of items a building will spawn so no more loot bombs. There's a limit on the number of each type of weapons- I'd heard 8 winchesters on the ground at one time (obviously doesn't count when in a players inventory). Loot is respawning but it spawns slowly so you have to move around the map.

  4. Animators animate. That's their job, it's what they are trained to do. Most can assist in texturing, modelling and rigging but will rarely be expected to do such unless in extreme circumstances.Programmers programme, sound technicians work on the sounds, environment artists work on the environment. Each one of the groups may be able to do some of the work expected of another but won't generally be asked by the company to do that because that isn't the reason they were hired. You do not hire an animator and then tell them they are expected to recode the engine on the game. Adding different emotes and actions dies not detract from the development of the game as a whole and will only have been worked on by the animation team whilst other teams add in and work on the features you desire. You just need to get your head around the concept that different teams have different skill sets and tasks and are able to work on projects without hindering another department. +edit+ out of curiosity what do you for a job? I was trained as and worked as an animator for a while and now teach art in schools. If when I was working as an animator someone had said to me to programme x y and z then I wouldn't have been able to because that's not what I learned during my college and university education. If the asked me to texture a model or to build a model I could have done it, not to the same level as a modeller or texture artist but decently enough that it would have served basic needs. Likewise the guys that did programming wouldn't have had a clue how to animate walk cycles etc because it's not their area. The sane thing is true in my job now, I teach art. I'm pretty good at teaching it. I sometimes get asked to cover for teachers who are absent, just before the summer I had to cover a geography lesson. I'm not great at geography but the teacher had planned and resourced the lesson so I could deliver the facts she wanted. I couldn't answer all of the questions from the students because that's not my specialism. Did I teach it as well as she would have? No, because I'm not a geography teacher. Would the group have achieved high grades had I been teaching them geography all year? No, because I'm not a geography teacher. Different jobs, different skill sets, different responsibilities and expectations. All working together to get the game finished to a high standard.

    I certainly wasn't unarmed prior to leaving sinistok and heading south but either way I digress... The point in having the patches stay on experimental longer than before is to find and fix bugs that will be detrimental to gameplay. They pushed .55 out quickly and it received massive negative feedback so they spent a long time addressing loot issues before releasing .57 which veered too much in the other direction. With .58 they can't take the risk of it being so poorly received because that would mean 3 consecutive patches spanning several months have each had fundamental flaws limiting player enjoyment. It's simple business sense that as we approach the close of alpha and the start of beta you want the public reaction to the game to be growing in positivity not staying highly negative. I'm happy to wait as long as is necessary for the next update, heck if they want to scrap .58 and go straight into .59 then I'd still be delighted because I'm loving the experimental branch atm. Good things come to those who wait and all that jazz

    Quick question about 0.58

    That's Alpha for you. Have you played Exp? If so you will realise that there are huge improvements over the current stable build but having your gun randomly go away when people are close is a killer bug because a) it tells you when someone is nearby and b ) it will likely end up getting someone killed which means even more negative comments about the game spreading across the interweb. It's like the bug on stable where it makes gear stick to your characters hands and then you just lose it with no hope of getting it back. On stable, with one character i lost 3 MP5s, 2 CR pistols and my Winchester with scope which meant that for a while I was around NWAF/Myshinko tents without any weapon. Not exactly great places to be unarmed.

    Then I feel sorry for you. Most people wouldn't know it was an apocalypse immediately, the virus or infection or whatever we call it would likely not be fully understood for a while- the book World War Z goes into this quite well. Effectively there is a lot of misinformation initially and governments refusing to accept certain claims or else hoping that things will be contained and dealt with by other countries. The infection would also likely not be a quick illness, it's not like one minute you're fine and the next you want to eat someone's face, it's entirely possible that your mum or wife or whoever has been ill for a while. The government has probably not said too much about what happens after just that the victims become violent and need to be kept isolated... Well your wide who you have been caring for for a few days has just coughed loudly, you go into the room and she's struggling to breathe. You try and help her but she keeps coughing up blood and mucus and she looks terrified. Then she stops coughing and goes limp, her eyes glaze over. She's clearly dead. You're upset, you cry and hold her cursing the cruelty of whatever god you believe in and hoping that she's not really dead. You likely pray, you've never done it before but hey, why not try now, you make any bargain you can think of if you can just have her back. Just as you're about to give up all hope she twitches, her arm starts flicking and moving and she gasps a long and drawn out gasp. Blood is still around her mouth and her eyes are dark and hooded but she turns to look at you, 'it's a miracle!' You think. God answered your prayers and sent her back to you, you cry again, this time with happiness. As you go to embrace her she lets out a hideous wail and lunges at you, clawing at your face. You try and push her away, you don't want to hurt her because it's your wide but she's clawing and scratching any part of you she can reach. You scramble back to the door and manage to close it just as she lunges again, you slump down with your back to the door and begin uncontrollably sobbing as the thing that was your wife scratches and hits the door trying to get out, all the while hissing and screeching at you. So yeah, if that had happened if be pretty upset, and I sure as hell wouldn't find it easy to just kill her because as far as I know, as far as anyone's been told it's just an illness which makes people violent. Maybe it's like rabies. Maybe there's a cure.... If there's a cure then there's hope, she can still be saved. I think any person in that situation wouldn't immediately go and grab the nearest weapon and think 'oh Mary's pissed, better shoot her in the face'. You'd hold on to hope for as long as possible, it may take her attacking someone else you care about to see that actually there's nothing of her left. Seriously doubt most people would immediately be able to kill friends and family without any hesitation.

    Status Report - 14 Aug 2015

    That was never anything more than an image to illustrate and clarify the concept of zones, it was never going to look anything like that in the final implementation. I really enjoyed thins presentation, very interesting and exciting ideas. The idea of zombie hordes as a dynamic event is just awesome. Imagine walking through the hills around zelenogorsk and stumbling across a shambling horse of the undead... Going to need more than an axe to deal with then.

    Let's assume that the area the game is set in is relatively poor, a lot of the populace would be eating food that was grown by them and their community as it would be cheaper to get. With the civil war that happened shortly before dayz it's likely that most of these supplies were low in numbers either due to it being unsafe to farm or simply from existing loss of life. Then the zeds start arriving, people are forced to use up what small stockpiles they have whilst waiting for evacuation. Once the army or cdf arrive to evacuate the people those small stockpiles are left over, these are then raided by remaining militia from the civil war and along with weapons and ammo taken to the mountains where the militia are camped. The game doesn't currently allow for us to access the mountains so we can't find these stockpiles, nor does it include people who have left either by land or sea taking their own supplies with them. It wouldn't be an immediate end of civilisation as we know it, it would likely take weeks to get to the situation we have in game. I hope the game never gets as abundant in resources as you seem to want, I couldn't give two hoots about supposed realism, I want the game to be challenging to play not one were I can eat a can of beans and be fine for a day in real time.

    Obviously there is an incentive- actually engaging in a memorable experience/adventure/conversation etc. what you mean to say is there is more risk in not killing on sight. A minor difference but an important one

    Avoid airfields- full of bandits. Never walk in a straight line, always duck and weave.

    I've met players around novo, severograd, neaf, novoya petrovka even zelenogorsk. Usually I'll spend time scoping a town out before moving in, sometimes I will have spotted the other players and will observe and decide if I want to interact or not. I'm not advocating running up to every single player and yelling friendly at them but if they are just looting (especially without a weapon drawn) then chances are ill approach and then speak from a position of safety. I also play mostly private servers so it could be luck that communities on those are generally more balanced.

    So one person betrays you and that's it, not going to talk to anyone anymore? As for Shiva_O, maybe try speaking to people and you'll realise that there are many friendly players, or at the least players who don't purely KOS. Head out of the usual coastal deathmatch cities and you'd be amazed who you meet. I've had plenty of encounters with friendly people and spent hours in game having adventures with them and not been betrayed. It's all about how and where you approach people. I'd suggest giving it a go before claiming that all the content creators fake their 'friendly' videos.

    Using the phone could also be an interesting way of adding in some background music, you could find headphones that you could put attach and listen to music stored on the device...

    PSA: Game development takes a while, but...

    Q1 2015 Basic vehicles- in game Advanced loot distribution- was implemented but suffered severe issues- being reworked. New renderer- missing New Zombie AI- in but still suffering from issues Basic stealth system (zombies and animals)- in Diseases- in Improved cooking and horticulture- horticulture is in, not much word on cooking afaik Advanced anti-hack system (Dynamic BattlEye)- in, or at least in progress. Huge reduction in hackers in my experience. Q2 2015 Advanced vehicles (repair and modifications)- in exp Advanced animals (life cycle, group behavior) Player statistics- missing New UI- in exp Player stamina- missing Dynamic events- been in for a while but suffering from issues World containers- in exp New physics system- missing. not much has been said about this afaik Q3 2015 Traps- for animals or players? If animals then in (also bear trap/land mine- do they count) Barricading- lock picks are present as earliest form of barricades Character life span + soft skills Animal predators + birds Aerial transport Console prototype Advanced communication Q4 2015 Animal companions Steam community integration Construction (base building) Beta version, expected price €34.99 / $43.99. Unsurprisingly the majority of Q3 is missing but most of the things from Q1+2 have been implemented or at least early versions are there. Sure the game is behind where the devs wanted it to be but look at the issues with CLE, it took so long to understand what was going on that it was bound to slow down certain aspects as the teams focused on ensuring it worked better. Look at exp with the limit on item spawns in buildings to prevent lootsplosions, great move IMO.

    I've seen a player holding a chemlight from about 600m away in novo hospital (I was in the hills by the radio tower) in .57 stable.

    An annoyance/question

    I've lost countless weapons, mostly mp5s although one play session I lost my blaze, cr75 pistol and mp5 making me completely unarmed lol. What I've found is that using ladders with the item in hands can cause it to show in your inventory without being there meaning you can't equip it. Pressing f2 normally allows you to put it in your hands again but it will vanish when you log. I've taken to pressing f2 and then stripping it of all attachments to save hunting all but the weapon itself

    UN Helmets and beret spawn fix info ?

    Not really the point of this topic is it? Surely if you have an issue with them then you could start your own thread? I've not had any run ins with the UN clan as far as I know but I've met loads and loads of people who fit your description of 'being a dickhead' because a large majority of the player base will ahoot anyone they see regardless of their affiliation to any particular clan. As for the OP, haven't seen any this patch come to think of it. If I do I'll be sure to pass on the info and I can trade it if you want?

    DayZ Stream Content

    The majority of streams I've watched have been rolling around the coast/slightly inland and getting into fights because that is the mindset of the majority of players (not necessarily the streamers). I've watched a few of Jamjar's streams where he has been around NWAF/Vybor etc and there frankly aren't enough encounters of any kind to make it enjoyable for either party (streamer and viewers), don't get me wrong it's great if you have a community and want time to interact with them but as a new streamer you are unlikely to have the viewer count to keep it interesting. So yeah, I'd say not Berezinho on the whole because most streams seem to gravitate there if there isn't any action. Bandit hunting is always good to watch, M1ndr does quite well out of that but to be honest one that I rarely see is someone being a true bandit. Not just camping triple yellow and sniping people but making them do crazy things, robbing them, dressing them up etc. It should be entertaining to the viewers as it shows interactions and possibly gunfights, it'll be more entertaining to you hopefully than just pvp and its not the go to setting for stream content. What mode are you playing, 1pp or 3pp? In my experience good 1pp servers are few and far between (by which i mean underpopulated) but the action seems to be spread out across the map a lot more.     Can i use the M4

    There is going to be a wipe with the next update, that's already been confirmed. I'm also more likely to believe Hicks saying an item spawns than a random person on the internet with no affiliation to the game, that's no offence to you but I'm sure you can understand why the lead producer would be a more reliable source of information. You seem very upset about the m4 situation but the game will go through numerous issues with the availability of items before release. Some items will be removed from loot tables for months at a time others will go from extemely rare to far too common, it's the nature of the game. If people are duping or hacking then I say 'superb' it means the devs can tighten up the loopholes to stop those exploits from making it to the final release.
