I was under the impression that private servers were able to enforce any rules they decided upon, that's why role play servers only work on private. I'll be honest I haven't read through the document but that was my understanding of it from experiences with servers like the gents of novo and dayz rp
-
Let us not forget, it is only the few 'official' servers and not every single public server that will be changed. It'll be around about 20 servers at most that change so it won't possibly drive away thousands of players.
-
There used to be a terrain glitch where the ground formed a pyramid on that spot, the sign basically just commemorates it hence the triangular drawing.
-
It may be that one server was private or 1st person in which case it would be a different character to a 3rd person public server. This does happen from time to time, even on servers which I've played on previously, usually because the server is experiencing connection issues. If this happens in future don't move, immediately log out and check that you are on the correct server type and log back into a different server.
-
If it's private it perfectly fine for server owners to have these rules. Sometimes you'll have the ingame name appear in the bottom if you have been force fed or tied up for example. Otherwise reporting the incident to the admins along with your ingame name and time of death will allow them to check the server logs.
-
That's fine, people are dicks in there all the time but you'll get a server ban within about 30 minutes from the admin.+edit+ I assumed you meant 'log into novo and kill people' which would get the server ban. If you just meant join the server and play normally outside of novo then you'll be fine. You do get a few people who gear up to then shoot guys in novo but not too many and the admins are active and quick to respond. Check out the gents Facebook page as well, easy to report any issues there and you'll get info about events on any other servers in the hive.
-
Gents of novo server is a good one. Novo is a safe zone and everywhere else is whatever you want it to be. It's not about rp or pve it's just a safe area to meet, chat and trade. Always popular servers too

I have an i7 @4.2, a 989ti etc etc etc and average 20-30 in Cherno/elektro with dips below 20 on occasion with all settings high or very high. Sure fire way to improve your frames is to wait for he game to be completed and optimised. You can do some tweaking to config files and turning some settings up can shift workload off of the cpu but otherwise it's just the nature of the beast. Lastly, all this info has been posted hundreds of times, a quick search will provide links to different guides including one from SMoss with a breakdown of different settings.

My friend had this a while back. Ended up deleting som of the files from the game folder and then verifying the integrity of the files through steam. It registered bits were missing and reinstalled them.
-
It would cause way too many issues with clipping through items IMO.

Meh. Whilst cool in that there will always be reliable 1pp servers I genuinely don't see what the point is? Will it make more people play 1pp? Nope. There's still going to be a multitude of regular servers out there to play on. Will it increase the 1pp community? Probably not, there are already some great 1pp public and private servers so I don't see that having official ones 1pp only will instantly increase the player count

DayZ Dev team communication with the community
stinkenheim replied to Yuval's topic in General Discussion
I've always been pleased with the amount of information the Devs share with us, but I will admit the last week or so has been phenomenal. The Q+A session with Hicks at the weekend through to constant videos and muses in the dev tracker has been fantastic. Cheers to you guys. -
Yeah but with the amount of money they made they could all have added cloning machines to their lambos and now everyone of us players has a clone of Hicks watching them in game and sabotaging their efforts. That's why I haven't found a hunting scope for my Winchester yet with my latest char and exactly the reason that every time I hear gunshots I can never find the people.... Bloody tricksy millionaire dev clones!!!
-
Since when has worth or threat level ever prevented a MLG l33t player cockwomble from killing a bambi lol. It's different, it's powerful but it could be cool. Grenades will likely still be more dangerous to the average player because not many people will want to carry a 1 or 2 shot weapon over their M4/AKM and a handful of grenades in a bag.
-
Thanks for the response dude. Yeah I didn't even think about weight tbh as I wasn't sure of the overall impact that it would have in game. I'm liking the alternative options you guys are throwing out and once duping/loot cycling bugs are more under control it'll be a great addition. Certainly wouldn't like hearing this going off in a city when I'm running around with a crowbar trying to find a can of beans lol

Hopefully they fix the issue where window frames are being hit even when the gun is clear of them... It's irritating to see a perfectly lined up blaze shot hitting an invisible piece of wall but at least the bullet doesn't explode into a massive ball of death in that situation. If they make the projectiles 3 or 4x1 slot items then it's not too bad, that'd only be 14 rockets able to be carried by someone and they wouldn't have much room for anything else with that many. Also hoping that damaging one when shooting at someone would give it a chance to explode or at the very least misfire in someway.

Haven't played in a while, what's the current state of this game?
stinkenheim replied to Danp1121's topic in General Discussion
So vehicles, persistence, storage items, animals, illnesses etc don't improve the game? While I agree the survival aspect is limited at the moment there are elements there. I'm hoping the new tech paves the way for updated aspects that have been developed in house to be quickly implemented. I will point out though, your original comment included nothing to do with improving the game, merely that you would have noticed no changes from the first release of it. :) -

Apart from the different items, changed town layouts, different status ailments, changed sounds, new locations, vehicles, tents, heli crashes etc then yeah... basically the same game. -
Not really helpful tbh. The hive been suffering attacks for the past day or so and BI are working on it. I've had few issues loading characters atm apart from on one or two public servers so it could be an issue affecting certain gsps more than others. Devs are working on it atm and loading into another server may restore your character but it's not guaranteed. It could well be the server never saved your info to the hive because of the attacks
-
Really!?! I mean seriously, do you genuinely think that it is part of bohemias business plan for dayz to suffer serious ddos/attacks on their hives?? Here's a tip, if you don't know what you are complaining about and haven't read anything about what caused the issue then don't comment. Sorry if it seems harsh and rude but frankly it's ridiculous to come in here slating BI for something they have minimal control over. It's not a random bug, it's not loot issues or anything of the sort it is some cockwomble deliberately attacking their systems. They are working to fix it, they clearly thought they had fixed it based on eugen's tweet, if it's still ongoing then do something useful and report it.

In fairness the original plan was .59 exp last week, turn around would likely have been 2 weeks on exp with hotfixing etc ongoing leaving 2-4 weeks for the .60 build to hit exp. Keep in mind the .59 patch will see a lot of tech changes it's not beyond the realms of possibility to think that follow up patches may speed up a little as they can implement in house systems that have been requiring new tech (for instance the fall/landing/limping animations that require the new animation engine). Having said that, if you read the dev tracker tweets, Eugen has said that they are planning on more polished exp updates from now on so 90% certain that there will be a longer turn around in the future but there may be more content in those updates. -
there have been connection issues with the hive since last night. Possibly a DDOS attack. The devs are aware and looking into the issue. For what it's worth, I've been able to play for several hours today with no issues apart form one server (a public one) where my character loads as a freshspawn every time (other public servers load my normal guy) so it could be currently limited to a few GSPs.

sheds and outhouses normally, they are really small and look a bit like a pen so you may have ignored them. When you find one, put it with the battery in the V3S 'inventory' section for parts.

I have a 32" 4k monitor and dayz supports the full resolution for it.

Actually he means that the compass will show up in your hotbar and will show the direction that way. No need to open the menu and inspect the compass.
