  1. Yeah on the latest exp. update it's set my sprint to shift + w and won't accept wx2 when I try and reconfigure the settings.

Why are social interactions so scarce?

I had a great encounter the other day. Spawned by the factory below berezino and was running there to meet a friend. On route I met a guy running the other way who started shouting over direct. I said something to my friend along the lines of 'oh another idiot who's trying to be annoying.' As he got closer I realised the guy was singing a song about a zombie and then started following me. I started singing 'I know a song that'll get on your nerves' and carried on running. My friend met up with us and we started punching out the zombie chasing this guy and he started shouting out MMO terms like 'tank him' etc. We started joining in and it ended up with us recruiting another guy into our 'dungeon run' into berezino which soon became us trying to herd a cow through the streets of berezino. Strangely, on a full pop server, we encountered no one else or got shot at before we all died of starvation after the most amusing experience I've had in the game.
  3. Don't forget the weapons in dayz aren't brand new, well maintained weapons. They are generally something you or the person you killed have scavenged from a house or deserted military base. Who's to say how long they were sat in the barracks for befor you stumbled upon it, or how long that gun was in the back of that rusted up pickup for? Could well be they were there for weeks, exposed to the elements, slowly degrading before you picked it up and carried it for another couple of weeks, never once cleaning it or oiling it. There's a back story to everything in the game, players, mobs and loot. Will gladly point out I've never held a gun in my life so don't actually know anything about maintenance of weapons or their shelf life. But thought it was worth thinking about that the gun may have been outside since the outbreak (or possibly longer) with no attempt at cleaning it.

    haven't seen a police car since 0.49

I'd found stab vests and mp5 mags in there pre .49 but not been there since wipe

0.50 has it come too soon?

Hicks has said himself that .50 is just a number and has no relation to the actual finish line as such. Check out the interview M1ndr did on YouTube, it's at about 5mins he makes this statement.

    When do you demand Vehicles?

@ big mike. They were implementing the truck first due to the number of things you'd need to attach to get it working. Kind of like how the m4 was added before a lot of guns to test out the attachment system.

    a logical question

I've killed someone from 200 m with a double blast to the chest recently, must have been really bad lag/desynch that cause your issues, or he had untold amounts of clothing in his jumper/vest as iirc that can allow you to absorb more damage
  12. The same thing was happening on exp. got really irritating.

Favorite things about .49 so far

If you just double click the item in question it should update the look of it. Certainly worked for me 90% of the time

Favorite things about .49 so far

If doors are giving you trouble switch to first person (as in camera angle not server) and it should work. Had it a few times on those green building with white bottoms that you have to go up stairs to get in. They never used to spawn loot but do sometimes now. Basically in the porch area the door wouldn't come up as an item I could interact with until I switched camera. Annoying but at least it worked. Love the door sounds, melee is better (no gimped hit boxes). Cold is annoying, especially if I can't play for long and it's raining because the second my character steps outside he's instantly soaked and I've never had an option to dry clothes. The loot respawn is annoying at times too, I know in exp I often died as a fresh spawn because I would be running through towns that had absolutely nothing in, not even trash. Hopefully this won't be as much of an issue on stable because there are more servers.

    Gunshots sound issue in .49?

Been present for a while now just becoming more commonplace as the servers are becoming more burdened with loot spawns, wildlife etc. Rocket explained the apparent issues that cause the missing sound in the pax seminar. It's to do with clients being out of synch iirc.

    MASKA helmet?

Yep, they look quite good. I had a really lucky spawn at riffy. Got a hunters pack, brown pants, olive tactical shirt, sks, magnum, shotgun and loads of food from the ship. Then ran over to NE and found the head gear. No ammo though haha.

    MASKA helmet?

I found one of those Gorka helmets in the NEAF, along with a green balaclava. No visor though.

Early Game Survival and Group Size

Personally I'd put an option of 'potential threat' under how you view players because that's the main thing I think when I see someone. They aren't a rival or a friend until I've made contact. Until then they are just a possible threat, if I dislike the look of them (the way they act in game) or can otherwise come to a conclusion about their play style then it will greatly impact on how I deal with the situation. Certainly for me, they aren't business partners or prey, mostly because unless I'm a very new spawn I have no need of their gear and I don't KOS without reason. As for group size, solo play should be doable but you won't be able to carry all the gear you need to survive off the land without a base camp somewhere. Therefore 2-4 players should be optimal, enough bodies that you can hold down an area if needed, people to provide overwatch on loot runs, people to go scavenging, people to get certain items like firewood, worms etc. ideally I'd play with 4 players, 2 to go hunting for food, 2 to go on equipment runs into towns (preferably 1 over watching).

    Fun Times in the NWAF

It was an airfield, people's mentality changes at military locations and you will be very hard pressed to find a friendly player in one. Occasionally you would at the old NEAF because there was a higher chance that you would meet a new spawn there but don't hold your breath on it. Basically it's because to be at an airfield you will, 99% of the time, be armed. You will also likely be looking for similar gear to other players therefore are competing with them for the same goals. Lastly, paranoia is an amazing thing. Most players (myself included) adopt a very aggressive mindset in military locations and will therefore assume every other player will be thinking the same way so no one talks, no one takes risks, they just seize an opportunity that they find.

Haven't heard about this happening yet...

Never heard of it before, although I did witness a guy in the novo tower eating his lunch whilst 'hovering' several foot over the top of the roof. Weird thing was, I could see the campfire he'd lit and his shadows moving in a room in the middle floor that you can enter. Shot him to see if it would register and I could see him go prone and look around but the character model was still flying. Laughed a lot at that and then left a clearly terrified player with no idea that his every movement was being displayed. Also seen weird glitches with the burlap wrap they put in where it was hovering in the air above my character. Meant I had to remove it or my position would have been given away. That's happened on a few characters now...

Direct Communication not working, Including Chat!

I know if my game crashes for any reason I need to restart my computer or my mic won't work in game (no direct chat option is available) despite working fine for raid call. If I simply unplug my mic and plug it back in then even the head phones don't work. Quite frustrating, especially if I forget about it.

Mistakes you see people do all the time in DayZ

I was going to say just this. I have been able to follow people through towns just by the doors they have opened, it also has me on edge when I go somewhere and see it looted so i become more cautious and notice people who continue to run about blindly, aggroing zombies and standing around in the middle of roads looking in car boots. In a related note, it irks me watching videos of people who see doors open but don't take care and just charge straight into a building regardless of what may or may not be waiting, in game it doesn't bother me too much because it will often work to my advantage but in videos I watch I get angry at it lol

This error happens to anyone else?

I have an amd GPU and 8 gb ram and have never had or heard of this issue before you posted here. Likewise my housemate has never had either problem, don't know what spec he had but it's better than mine.

    UNDER CONSTRUCTION

If you crossed the railway to get to the hospital the second time it is certainly the same town (for a war memorial opposite the hospital). It's a bit spread out at the moment because as the name implies, it's under construction, so expect it to be renamed once it's finished

    Haunted Elektrozavodsk

If it says your legs were broken then 99% of the time it's a glitch where the server and the client have conflicted ideas about where your character is. Usually when this happens on stairs or ladders it results in your death. The footsteps could well have been a zombie near the building (they make footstep sounds even when stationary, guess it's then shuffling about) or a glitch sound like the global ammo and drinking sounds
