So picking up from my past installment, I made it as North as you can go. Surprisingly I ran into 2 other players up here! One was very friendly and the other was very quiet so I got away quickly. I headed along the end of the known world West from there. Then South just a little bit to one of the towns just near the edge of the map. Arriving in this street and something caught my eye. Just at the top right, on the road just under the power pole... This is what I found... on the road... pristine... full mag... It took me about 5min to pick it up as I was looking for an land mine hidden under it. But, turned out it was all good... score! Random... but definitely score! Back to the edge and heading East this time Just one for the 'it's too hard, there is no way to survive' haters; Energized, Hydrated and Healthy. More food than I can carry and 4 pouches of water plus one military bottle. Zombie just standing in no-man's land And another one... I suspect they must have chased someone out there... I imagine I would be fairly hard to find since I don't even know where I will go each day. Also, where are you from? I am in Oz so if you are US I would be travelling in different hours.

And another chainsaw... I thought these were rare? Heading North towards Devils Castle Then this place... After leaving the above city, I found a quiet house to chill and called it a day.

We pick up the story just before my last post, with me making it to NW Airfield and managing to get VERY geared along the way. I say 'very geared' on the basis that according to 95% of the mumma's bois on this forum, there is not gear, no food and no guns. Therefore making it to NW is impossible. After picking up some gear in the hangers, I stumbled across this Later that day in a nearby town, found this. I also found a land mine. I took it into my hands and this happened. If it had that affect on another part of my anatomy, my wife would have been very pleased... But instead... Back on the coast and found a zombie house! Someone had fun And then found a magical floating bush. And hats... hats for every man, woman and child.... and dog.... and zombie Followed by many many books.... A while down the road, I had a drink and spotted something out the corner of my eye... can you see it? What about now...

I managed to travel from the coast to NW and beyond. Over that trip got quite well geared. Then I just HAD to go screwing about with a land mine didn't I? BOOM! 'You are dead'

Soooo, on another server I picked up a character I had from a while back. Here is the story in pictures: I discovered how to make leather water bottles. I made 3 out of one cow and over my travels gave out 2. Met some friendlies and had some fun times Spotted a suspect tent Found a frozen zombie... Found a bear trapped police station Then, after I got geared with an AKM and one mag, a Blazer, silenced 9mm without a mag I went to NW Managed to get through most of the airfield and to the fire station without much effort. Was pinned on a roof for a bit by a zombie but took him out slowly with the one round at a time 9mm silenced P1. Then I got to the building next door, 2nd floor on the ground under the bed I found some AK ammo. I lay down to pick it up and.... 'You are dead' Back on the coast, I headed straight inland and found a house right near the coast PACKED with starter gear. A million books but also bats, wrenches and knives. Everything a bambi needs to get a head start. I was going to try and make it back to my body... but CBF. A new adventure awaits...

To confirm, you are hoping that there is a hotfix to resolve the issue of rare items, being rare? Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, k. In terms of character wipe, haven't had one happen to me recently but really no point getting so worked up. This is hardly something to bother devs with. It's just part of Dayz you. You spawn > you are bold and care free > you find stuff > you start being more cautious > you find better stuff > you become attached to your stuff > you die and start again. Sometimes that black screen with 'You are dead' is a relief as once you are geared, there isn't much more to achieve.

I have planted and activated both a bear trap and a land mine recently. In both cases, I retained all my limbs and face. With the land mine, unless if has been activated before, you have 3 seconds to get away from it. Not the case with the bear trap, but I just backed away and it didn't go off. I suspect it gets trickier if you are planting a land mine that has previously been planted and activated as I understand that you no longer get 3 seconds to get away and therefore, chanced of your hit box triggering it accidentally are high. Not sure if condition affects them.

Far out, since 0.55 I must be taking some pretty heavy Hallucinogens as I find food everywhere,even the coast. Search properly and systematically.

The consumer can complain when they are complaining about a product not doing something it never promised to do.

That just means your crap at the game. I am far from an experienced at DayZ compared to most people on here, but since the patch I have died 4 to 5 times and in all cases but one, I was hydrated, energised and healthy within 2 hours plus had at least enough storage for the basics like bandages, water, some cans of food and a tool to open then. In the case I didn't get that much gear, it was because I joined a group of players, one of which decided to execute me for my hi cap vest. Gear is harder to find, but it's everywhere and you can survive food wise if you are smart. One time I managed to kill and slice up a cow with a meat cleaver. Risked having the steaks raw, used the guys to keep me warm until I found a jacket and real food. Moral of the story, this is a survival game and not everyone can survive. Those who are smart and adapt will live, those who don't and are just after COD PVP will not.

My hope is that you can push cars. So if you and some buddies find a non running car, you can push it to a different, secure location and then start hunting the parts for it. Also hope mechanical symptoms are realistic. Flat or ruined battery will mean when you try to turn it on, you get nothing or dim lights and clicking. Crank it, but no fire could be fuel filter. Overheating would be caused by missing fan belt or ruined radiator... Or no water. And being able to improve parts would be ace. Make a fan belt out of rope. I can only hope anyway.

I don't know if it's a 'nickname' as such, but I was called a player 'homo Dean' when he knocked me out and then did the following. SMACK, I'm out cold. Wake up and I have been handcuffed and he kneeling in front of me. SMACK, Out again Wake up and he is infront of me but with no pants SMACK Wake up, I have no pants and he is infront of me SMACK Wake up and we are both in just underwear SMACK Tea-bagging... He was the Dean character so 'Homo Dean'

Soooo, got a bit lost today and decided to head to the coast. Ended up in a spot i had never visited before; the cliffs East across the water from Chero. Decided that I will head West through Chero. For some reason I am always drawn to that little supermarket on the very West side of the map. Pfft, what a spanner. Glad I didn't vote for him... Decided to go around the North of Chero, rather than going through it. Stopped at a hunting stand to clear some zombies and scope out the city. After an uneventful trip, only plagues by a few zombie encounters I decided to finish with a BANG! Time to eat some peachs and bacon, then retire.

I'd say its at its best stage so far. Zombies are challenging, you have to LOOK for food and ammo/weapons don't grow on tree's. The game is FINALLY shaping up to be was it was intended to be. A post-apocalyptic survival game. The ONLY issue is that zombies have decided to be ninja's and make no noise as they sprint up on you. I also miss that slow, slightly defeated job they used to do when they got tired. But aside from that, the game is finally awesome. And there is PLENTY of food, if you actually take the time to find it. I am currently energized, hydrated and healthy. Got a few cans of peaches, some tactical bacon and loads of spaghetti. All that was found searching through quieter towns.

Generally ping is a good indication of how well you will run on that server. I'm in Australia so always play 'AU' servers.

Heaven on a biscuit is the regular server, Hell in a hand-basket is their HC server. At the moment, I am on a public server, part of the name is '127157-Survival' and am near the coast heading towards Cherno. Once this player dies, I will be jumping onto a private server again as generally I find the people playing are more sensible with less KOS.

Lag aside, the rest sounds like the characteristics of playing a survival game. Up until .55, surviving was an 'inconvenience'. Your character would get hungry or thirsty as your ran around with an AK in hand and a Mosin on your back, fully geared with a mountain bag full of food and ammo. killing zombies with one blow to the head and having epic pvp battles. Now you have to survive. You can no longer just run through a town and outrun the zombies or run in circles and bonk them on the head. Lag wise, I experience is now and then. But nothing serious like what you mentioned. Are you trying to play on local servers? Maybe try playing on servers with under 20 players and that are local to you. See if that helps.

Yeah, if people bump into me on a server and mentioned the thread then sure. Though atm I am on a random server I don't know the name. Usually I am on a private server, Hell in a handbasket I think. I don't give away my location to specifically meet with people though as that's just asking for a black screen with small white writing, 'You are dead' My player interactions generally fall into two groups; 'Initiated by me' and 'Impromptu' The ones initiated by me are usually when I see a player and stalk them to see what they are about. Usually this is a case of waiting for that player to bump into one other player and watching the result of that interaction. If they interact without anyone dying then I will make contact. Impromptu is when I am surprised by another player. Usually in these cases if I haven't been shot in the first 5 sec I see if they want anything and then get out of the situation asap. These interactions are also sometimes when I see a player sprinting across a field with half a dozen friends looking to nibble on his face. I will try to pick off a few from a distance. But in the new update this results in me ending up with some new friends too. :p

I have no idea what people are in about. Since the update, I've found a mp5 and heads of ammo, enough food so I am energised and healthy. All my clothing is pristine, I have a press vest and am enjoying the challenge of being stealthy to avoid zombies. And I have changed server only once. Not sure if I am playing a different game or...?

Something.... something has changed. I've been travelling for weeks and I only say the undead occasionally. But now, they are everywhere... and they are STRONG! Twice I've been stranded now with no way out. I've been much more quiet, and move much slower now. Can't take any chances any more... This is now the only way I feel close to 'safe'... In related news, MP5 mags FOR EVERYONE! Damn, finding them every 5 seconds now.
