The balance of the map is much better now than it would be if they done what you're suggesting...IMO I find the balance of the map to be spot on for what you would expect in a real apocalypse, it fits the story of the military basing themselves in airfields. People wouldn't explore the map if they made the changes you suggest, the game would just turn into a race whenever you spawned to run to NWAF as quick and direct as possible to get involved in the looting and PVP. The game would be terrible. At least now there are things like the odd military buildings and military bases in the middle, and Balota airfield to convince players to migrate around the map.
-
So you want the NWAF to become the old NEAF? Except worse because there won't be any other military spots to get loot, so it will just turn into a massive sniper den full of server hoppers?
-
How about you approach every situation with a survivor's mentality? He could have survived that encounter without getting involved in combat. He got greedy and got killed. Even if he didn't go and loot the body it would still have been a risk. The worst part is that he didn't even kill quickly, he took so many rounds to kill him, that anyone in earshot instantly smells an AKM for grabs and comes over to him.

It's fun blowing people to bits though.

I'd like to hope this is something that will be put in, but would be a long way down the line. The game looks buggy enough as it is for now.

wat Weapons are meant to be easy to use and service AFTER training. If I gave you a SA80 rifle and told you to disassemble it completely and clean it without you having any prior knowledge, you would probably fuck the gun to bits and make it unusable. Loading bullets into mags might seem intuitive at first, but if don't do it in the correct manner then your gun will jam every couple of rounds... Rags R OP

Apologies, I hadn't read that post. If we aren't military trained soldiers, then how come we inherently have the knowledge for things such as loading bullets into magazines correctly, or operating a variety of weapons, which I can guarantee a civy wouldn't be able to do? I understand there are limitations in a game, but if it's assumed we know how to fully operate a gun and add/take attachments, then surely it's implied we at least know how to hold the thing correctly? Regardless of all this nonsense, my original point was that in the limitations of a game, the sway should be great when standing, but should be minimal when prone. That's real, and fair. There are things like spread which take into account the inaccuracy of weapons which prevent 1km kills, which is much more realistic than turning shooting into a game using reactions to wait till your cross hairs are on them.

Surely if they leaked the source code then the devs have the right to ban their steam accounts?..
-
Absolutely this. I can tell from the OP's attitude that he will eventually be a KOS without communication player, and for that I hope many people hold him up, cuff him, break his legs and leave him stranded.

If you want to be in the driving seat in your player interactions, then don't let yourself be in a position which puts other players in the driving seat. That doesn't mean ignore their demands, because at that point it's too late. It means spotting people before they spot you. When you start playing the game in a way where you dictate how the player interactions go, you will quickly learn that there is a reason why most people demand you holster your weapon and put your hands up, you will probably start doing the same.
-
Be grateful that you have had so many (any) people try to hold you up. Normally all the player interaction you will get is an instant "you are dead" screen out of no where. But cry some more, my characters thirsty and your tears taste great.

But your first reply insinuated that "a real combat situation" introduces enough adrenaline into your system that you feel like you have had an adrenaline shot? If you hold your rifle correctly in a crouched/prone position, as you are taught to in the military, no amount of "natural" adrenaline will make you start swinging your gun around like a protein shaker. Just because you soiled yourself when a kid broke into your house for booze money doesn't mean everyone does/will. If this game is taking place in chernarus, where military service was compulsory up until 2004, then I would expect most characters to be able to hold a gun without sh!tting their pants.
-
Have you ever been in a real combat situation?.. What's the closest you've been?
-
I don't fully understand his point, if he is talking about someone with a normal adrenaline rush, then he is wrong, a normal adrenaline rush will not unsettle you so much that you cannot make an accurate shot. If he's talking about someone who's just had a shot of adrenaline however then I agree, you would shaking just trying pull the trigger.

This. You can do a medium pace jog for a few km and still fire absolutely fine. The only time it's difficult to control your weapon is if you're trying to make a 100m+ shot after sprinting as fast as you can, and even then it only takes about 10-20 seconds to steady yourself. IMO there should be a bigger difference between standing/crouched/prone. Crouched there should be next to no sway, and prone there shouldn't be anything noticeable.

Does AKM have toggle option for single fire?

The fire mode seems temperamental at best, I've had times where the M4 stays on full auto even after pressing T. -
Go get better at trolling and then come back. You can be a "sniper" role with an Amphibia, you just won't be a very good one considering how poor that gun is even at point blank.
-
1. You stated that a AKM is not a sniper. It isn't a sniper rifle, but you don't need a sniper rifle to be classified as a sniper. 2. The only distinction between a AKM with a scope and a sniper rifle is that the sniper rifle is not full auto, and has much greater accuracy and stopping power at distance. By laughing about him "sniping" with an AKM, you're immediately implying that sniping is only an activity for people trying to achieve kills at long range. 3. Many people seem to be COD fan boys, you certainly do. 4. Thanks, I try.

This is a survival game first and foremost. You should play the game in a manner which gives you the best chance of survival. One very viable strategy is to kill people for their supplies or to eliminate a possible threat. What I dislike is people who intentionally go out to kill people for no reason and it doesn't benefit them. If you're in Berezino sniping noobs with no gear as they spawn, you're not killing to get supplies and benefit yourself, you're killing for the sake of killing, in which case this is the wrong game for you.

1. Spawns on the coast are the best, just run inland, you can work out your rough location by whether you hit a railroad or a road first. 2. Run along roads and use road signs to find out what town you are in. 3. The iSurvive map is in my opinion the best, it highlights some of the best buildings to loot. Police stations, Fire stations and Hospitals are a great place to visit for gear and supplies. Piano houses (large with green roofs) and corner pub buildings are also great for loot.

No, I was fortifying your point, perhaps I should have said "agreed". Yeah, bad grammar there, sorry.
-
Agreed, a marksman doesn't care about the distance his target is, the only thing that matters is hitting it.
-
The only time I've ever been caught off-guard and killed at an airfield is because I checked the coast was clear OUTSIDE the barracks building, and didn't check inside because I saw the door was shut. Opened the door without staying in cover and pieing it, ending up getting drilled full of lead. Best advice anyone can give you is to take your time and don't let your guard down ever. Even if you are the only person on a server, it's good practice to stay frosty and approach all situations with caution. Stay as low as possible at all times, crouching makes you a lot harder to hit and a lot harder to see. Yes if you're in a forest moving between towns it's safe to sprint around, but I wouldn't recommend sprinting around towns at all. The two most valuable items you will ever use in DayZ are your eyes. You will save yourself grief (or inflict it on others) just by looking at your surroundings properly before leaving cover.
-
A sniper is a marksman who often operates alone and engages the enemy from concealed locations. Also, distance isn't a defining feature, unless you're a COD fan boy and think that sniping is only about getting head shots from the biggest possible distance.

Can't say I agree. Yes fresh spawns will be desperate, but all it takes to deal with them is to point a loaded gun at them if they come within 10 metres.
