The new 3pp camera and FOV Slider

It looks like the "problem" has been solved for us. Patch .58 kills the over the wall "peek". Works fine for me. Walking into houses the 3pp view gets kind of "crunched". But, I'm flowing with the developers. So I'll adjust to whatever they decide. Because that's what you have to do with video games. We can complain as much as we want. But, in the end, we have to work with whatever the developers implement. Happy gaming, serb8. I hope DayZ works for you. May you have many hours of fun playing DayZ.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

I get it. That's a lot of writing, but it still doesn't support your premise. Sure there are weapons that are better then others. Yes, double carrying isn't necessarily the best choice to make. Regardless of your imaginary "basic game theory", there's no reason weapons in DayZ shouldn't spawn with some ammo occasionally or a partially filled clip on occasion. Most of the time, weapons are already spawning with no ammo at all. But, making that the norm doesn't even come close to being even slightly realistic.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

Huh? It makes no sense that you came to that conclusion. So, you find a gun you don't like but it has ammo. That's proof that weapons shouldn't spawn with ammo? Wow. So, I have a plant in my house that dies. I guess I should never have another plant, eh?

The new 3pp camera and FOV Slider

Oh I see, it's BS because you say so. Got it. I'm sure when the game is released there will be plenty of servers for everyone's 1pp or 3pp choice of play style. No need to be an ass and insult people who play differently. I play as "mrGreenJeans" in DayZ. I'll look for you so I can take your head off. Maybe your ego will fall out and run away to a better life.

The new 3pp camera and FOV Slider

Of course you wish they'd remove 3pp from day one. Because you're selfish like everyone else who thinks they know better then the developers. The debate is overblown and overrated. The 3pp view gives a false sense of security. I've used it the whole time. But when it comes time to confront another player, you still have to expose yourself if you want to defend yourself or engage the other player. At that moment, the 3pp view becomes irrelevant. It no longer matters. For people new to DayZ, the 3pp view helps you get acquainted with the map and the environment. It should always be a choice because there will always be new players coming to the game for the first time. If you don't like 3pp, don't play on 3pp servers. The solution is so fricken simple it's become a running joke watching people complain about 3pp. Jump on a 1pp only server if you don't like 3pp. Jeeez!

    Prison island spawning

Personally, I'm looking forward to spawning on the prison island. I have to go there. I've been busy playing with new friends and getting better acquainted with DayZ. Which is why I haven't been there yet. I may be subject to more KOS by spawning there. But part of what makes DayZ "fun" for me are those tense, omg, wtf moments. Like when you're making you're way through the map and suddenly come upon armed players. Wondering if you've been spotted or not. Plus, spawning on prison island creates a new situation where surviving is key the moment you spawn. Please share your thoughts on prison island spawns. What would you do to survive spawning there? If you've been there before, how did you survive? Or did you?
  7. I think patience is still key here. I believe the new renderer will make a difference. And expecting smooth play before beta is putting the cart before the horse. How a game that hasn't even been released yet has become a "joke" speaks only to the impatience of those calling it a joke. I was playing H1Z1 for the first time last night. Loved the creepy music and everything, but when two players suddenly vanished in front of me I knew I was dealing with a game still under development. That game has a similar disclaimer before the game starts just like DayZ. While playing I overheard a couple players complaining about the game. Just like players do here. So the "joke" is on you if you expect a game in development to be working smoothly. Just saying.
  8. Haha, Steve. You're right. You were just sharing your experience. I apologize. You have my beans.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

Our "chats" would be nicer if you didn't live in a bubble while insulting your readers with unfounded garbage. Trying proofreading your words before hitting the "Post" button.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

Are you serious? What utter nonsense you spew. All guns would be lying in the street completely empty of ammo? When was the last apocalypse you survived in that involved people running into the streets chasing down "zombies"? By the way, they're not zombies, they're infected. And no they wouldn't be eating you, they would be infecting you. Get the facts straight. "AND I don't know anyone who wouldn't fire off all the ammo before they got ate." Why would you fire off all your ammo? Are we to assume the ONLY ammo you have is already in your gun. No one would ever have additional ammo? Chances are there would be spare ammo near the weapon. Which makes this whole idea of "rare" ammo stupid and unrealistic. The people I know who own weapons have spare ammo. Next time you survive an apocalypse, please stop by the forums and let us know how you did it. Until then, stop suggesting silly ideas based on unsupported logic. You're just making yourself look dumb. Then again, you do give us the opportunity to point and laugh at you. So, by all means, keep suggesting silly ideas based on a total lack of experience. It's fun to read!
  11. That's great, Steve. Now that we have your ONE playstyle covered, the developers can relax knowing that Steve is happy. They should release the game now and call it, "Starve1Z1".

    Developer Appreciation

Who ARE you people? Bugs could and should be fixed now? Why, because you say so? Are you retarded? The only time bugs SHOULD be fixed is when the game is in beta or later. All of the content that's planned for DayZ is not in yet. It's been said a thousand times that you can't fix everything when there's still content to come. What's wrong? Has your patience run out? If you can't stick it out through the whole development of DayZ, then you're wasting everyone's time with your whining and complaining. Send bug reports and leave the development to the developers. You know, the guys that know what it takes to develop a game? Yea, those guys.

    Prison island spawning

Excellent point. I'm not that crazy after all. Hehe. I don't believe in being armed super fast either. But I don't think it should take several days either. I believe if someone makes a point to move around the map - moving inland for example - then you should be able to find enough gear in a few hours. At least within a day. Given that Chenaraus is a large map when traveled by foot, it already takes a long time to move around the map. If nothing else, players should be able to survive because they're not staying in one town, but are moving around. Searching for animals to hunt, food to grow, etc.

    Prison island spawning

There you go. A great example of how the prison island can be adapted through role playing. Anyone who's seen some of the DayZ videos on YouTube know that role playing is one of many ways to play DayZ. Good job, Deathlove. You have my beans.

    Prison island spawning

Prison island is supposed to be end game? There's that phrase again. End game. We're right back to people criticizing an idea because it doesn't fit their particular play style. There seems to be only three types of posters in these forums. 1. People posting ideas to help developers see what they'd like to see in the game. 2. People posting ideas and criticism based solely on directing the development of DayZ to fit their personal play style, screw anyone else. 3. Developers correcting the idiots who have no clue on how games are developed, but insist they know better then the developers what's good for DayZ and all apocalypse based games. If you don't like someone's idea. Suggest another one. Preferably one that respects all play styles. I know that's asking a lot. But, it would improve communication between us and possibly forwarding useful information to the developers. Here's some beans. Don't rush. There's enough for everyone.
  16. What is the "correct setting" for rendering resolution?

    Prison island spawning

I thought DayZ was about survival. I've suggested that this be a random/occasional spawn. Not a constant spawning point. Yes, it would be a dreaded spawn. But, imagine the thrill of spawning there, finding some food to energize with. MAYBE finding a weapon. But, surviving long enough to find supplies. Maybe a weapon. And getting off the island...or not. I've spawned many times in earshot of gunfire. Knowing I've spawned near a gun fight. That's not exciting? So, what I'm hearing here is that no one should spawn anywhere where you might have to think fast to survive. So much for a survival game.
  18. Are there settings we can change to improve our experience? I found instructions to lower settings in the DayZ config file that seemed to help. But, what is your advice on what we can do to improve our experience? Thanks in advance.
  19. vfxtodd

    Prison island spawning

Ok. Yea. Let's force players to survive for DAYS before finding weapons or supplies. But, God forbid you have to swim to shore from an island to survive. Silly me.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

Personally, I think the issue of ammo and weapons spawning is not as complicated as some people are making it out to be. Chenaraus is 225 sq km in size. That's pretty damn big, in the realm of most video games. Yes, there are other survival games out there, but we're not talking about them. Randomly spawning ammo and weapons around Chenaraus creates the rarity people are looking for. Not knowing where ammo and weapons will spawn after server restarts forces players to expand their travel plans. Problem solved. I think your poll was incomplete. A third choice of "sometimes spawns loaded weapons" would've made the poll complete to me. One day you might come across a loaded weapon along the Eastern coast. Another time you might find a loaded weapon far north towards the top of the Chenaraus map. How about spawning everything randomly around Chenaraus? Food, ammo, weapons and tools? You might spawn and have to survive only on apples, berries and the occasional rabbit. Throw in randomly spawning players around all of Chenaraus. Now, you not only don't know where you'll spawn as a fresh spawn, but you don't know where the food, ammo or weapons are spawning from where you are. Now you really have to survive on whatever you find around you. Server hopping? How about making a player spawn at a completely different location if he switches servers? Wouldn't that be helpful to balancing DayZ? Personally I think random spawns of everything, including players, will go a long way in keeping DayZ a survivalist experience without favoring any one play style.

    Prison island spawning

I wasn't think of it as being a constant spawn location. It would be a rare spawn spot. I don't code games but if it's possible to make it a rare spawn area, that might give the player that little bit of fear they're looking for in a survival game. If it's a dumb idea to you. Fine. Not that these forums are suffering from a shortage of dumb ideas.

    Prison island spawning

I read somewhere in the forums that a prison island spawn was going to be tested. Yes, I wouldn't want to just spawn and easily get armed either. I think it would be best if you spawned away from any weapons. The reward would come by surviving getting to the opposite end of the island where you might find support or not. If you get to the other side, you still have to look hard for supplies, etc. Use server restarts to randomize the spawning of loot so that you never find loot or supplied in the same places. Making each time you spawn a new adventure. And if you spawn on prison island and don't find anything useful. Then you'll have to leave the island to survive. That's what I like about the island. It's a new way to experience DayZ.

    Prison island spawning

It could be another way to add various survival methods to DayZ. Maybe it could be implemented as a server type. Prison island server, etc. Either way, I'm looking forward to trying many different play styles. It would add longevity to the game for me. You could have a gardening server, for those who want to garden as a means to survive. Whatever.

    Scoped blaze versus scoped Winchester

I like the Winchester m70 with hunting scope. I can take out a zombie with one round.

    SurvivaL Please ...

Another idiot chiming in. DayZ is a survival game that can cater to multiple play styles. There is no contradiction in the quotes you picked. I'm guessing English is not your primary language. If you're going to criticize what someone says, at least try a little harder to make some sense. Maybe take another class in English. Unsubbing from this thread.
