    Winchester ammo.

I was in Novoselky today and found Win ammo in a car. I usually find them in houses in the north. Your best bet is to look in the towns in the north. I know we've heard this all before, but it's true. Cars and sheds. Even in the houses in the towns just above Cherno has it. You can also increase your chances by getting on high pop servers. The loot cycles more often when there's more players on the servers. But, I've also had some luck on low pop servers, too. Basically, you just have to put the time into running around the map. Which can be rather boring, but necessary as well.
  2. Is this a sound glitch that gets fixed soon? I'm near Vybor at night trying to listen for people. But the ocean sounds are too loud to hear anything. Edit: Not to mention the fact that sun is taking a long time to set.
  3. I'm just along the treeline outside of Vybor military base. No walls, just trees around me. I wish the sky was dark already. Still has a tinge of blue for eternity it seems. Edit: Actually I don't think I'm outside Vybor military. I don't see guard towers. Gonna move.
  4. I've been all over Chenaurus for days. But, I cannot find a Winchester much less a hunting scope. Any ideas where the Winchesters have gone? And hunting scopes?

    Winchesters....where art thou?

I'm not bothered by getting off'd either. I, too, like the surviving and looting aspect of DayZ. Although recently the lag issues have been frustrating. The other day I was playing in DayZ's night time setting. It was cool. I was on a high pop server, and I was around Vybor. I knew I would see someone coming soon. Sure enough, a player ran right by me and took up position in a bush not too far from me. So, I sneaked up nearby him. And right when I was making my move I was hit with an immense amount of LAG making it impossible to defend myself. Why the lag suddenly spiked at that moment, I couldn't say. But...it got me killed. So for a few minutes I was upset. But, I let go of that, and started focusing on making my way North to gear up again. For now, those occasional pvp experiences can be very visceral and exciting even if I die. But, when lag takes away my choices it can get on my nerves. Until base building and fishing become more common place in DayZ's development cycle, there's not a lot to do except loot and shoot. But, that's OK. DayZ is still fresh enough for me, that I'm happy to play through the development, and roll with the occasional hiccups and frustrations. Because most of the time, I do have fun on DayZ.

    Winchesters....where art thou?

This sounds a lot like my own experience. I've been playing all last week for hours at a time. I've been all over the map, east and west, and haven't found a Winchester since .58 went stable. It's clearly a lot more rare then any weapon since the Mosin. At the moment, I am carrying a wide variety of ammo but have yet to find weapons for all that ammo. Yes, this is a survival game. And yes, I am finding enough food to survive and keep running around the map. Besides the rarity of weapons, I am experiencing a lot of lag and frame drops in the past couple weeks. My settings are at their optimal. Some servers are worse then others. But, my experiences are worse then before when I had all the settings on HIGH. I wish they'd bring back the infected/zombies. At least with the infected I could get some shooting practice in while traveling the map. I know the game is still under development, alpha, etc, but I used to have a lot more fun before. And even on full, high pop servers I'm having a hard time finding anyone to talk to. Except when I get shot at. At least then I know I'm not alone. LOL.

    Winchesters....where art thou?

So, I'm guessing maybe searching deer stands in the eastern half of Chenaurus? I've been all over the western half and have yet to find a Winchester or hunting scope. I don't know. I'll keep looking.

    Winchesters....where art thou?

Yea, I've been finding PU scopes. Even found 1 pristine PU scope the other day. Mostly damaged PU scopes though. Anyway, I haven't seen any Winchesters in .58. I would be curious to know if anyone is finding Winchesters on stable .58.

Remember when one bullet killed you?

I don't think one hit kills are realistic at all. Especially if you're shooting from far away, there's no way of knowing how accurate your shot was. Players get shot in the legs and go down and have to crawl. But, as others have pointed out, it depends on the ammo you use and the distance from where you're shooting from, coupled with where you hit your target.
  10. Ive been on .58 stable for a few hours now. I'm on a full server of 50 players. Had two friendly encounters. I gave one guy some ammo then left. I ran all through Cherno but not one shot was fired. Is everyone going north now?
  11. Ahh. Ok. Funny thing, I was writing this post on my iPhone while I hid my character inside a tree, just outside of Kozlovka. While I was typing I could hear someone run by me. I put down my phone, came out from the tree but could see no one around. Maybe they ducked into a tree. Haha.
  12. When people lower themselves to prepubescent ramblings about where a product SHOULD be in its primordial development, I have to wonder what they're doing with their personal time. Is my life so empty of value and activities, I have to attack the progress of a video game not meeting standards I have no idea of their meaning. I could give a flying fandango about "roadmaps". DayZ is a product being developed by humans, not gods. They can't alter time and space to force the progress of development into a specific time frame. That would be...what's the word?....Unrealistic. I'm watching a new rail line being built in the city I live in with great anticipation. I look forward to its completion because it will allow me to travel to parts of the city without having to deal with the insane traffic of Los Angeles, California. I heard that they are "ahead of schedule". They recently tested the tracks by running a train over the tracks across the new route. Originally, the "opening" date was summer of 2016. Now, some people may assume that the rail will be opening SOONER because of the mere mention of the "ahead of schedule" statement. Should I realistically expect the system to be available sooner? I think not. And who knows what issues may arise, now that they've started the testing phase. I've never built a railroad system in my life. I have no idea of what issues are involved in the construction of such a system. What if, for some reason, the opening gets pushed back to winter of 2016, or later? Should I get angry? Should I cry foul? No, I don't think I should. It opens when it opens. Before I know it, it will be opened. So, I wait with great anticipation. Looking forward to traveling across the city and avoiding insane traffic delays. Fun times lie ahead. For my city, and for DayZ.
  13. I notice there's almost always activity / PvP action in the eastern half of Chenaurus. But, is it worthwhile to head over to the western half of the map for activity? I'm not looking for PvP as much as something new to do. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Thinking about heading West...

Is there any loot that shows up more in the west? Or is loot pretty much spread all over? Just wondering if there's anything different to explore in the west.
  15. Who cares what other games are doing. You don't know when the other games started their development. Plus, does it really matter? Games like COD have specific release months that are the same every year. They also have three developers working on new versions every three years. Even if two games have similar premises doesn't mean they have the same requirements for stable gameplay. I have no expectations of DayZ except when it's released in a 1.0 version. Expecting any game to be "ready" before its release is quite unrealistic. Just saying.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

I think weapons and ammo should spawn a variety of ways. Sometimes they should spawn with some ammo. Sometimes with a clip in a nearby house or cabinet/drawer inside the same house. Sometimes no ammo at all. But, no, I don't agree to weapons or ammo spawning only ONE way. The key factor being that the way weapons and ammo spawn should be random each time. Randomly spawning weapons and ammo in a variety of ways, keeps players on their toes and prevents any single player from acquiring an advantage. Such as server hopping. With every server spawning everything randomly, server hopping would become a waste of time. And the game would retain a built in balance. It's a simple approach that requires no game theory in practice. I don't know if that "fits" into your game theory way of thinking.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

I really don't see the problem with weapons and ammo spawns. Randomly spawning weapons loaded, partially loaded, ammo nearby, etc makes for a simple solution. Except I think police stations should spawn with some weapons and ammo. After all, it is a police station. Since no one here has actually survived an apocalypse, insisting on specific types of spawns isn't realistic on any level. Random spawns keeps it fair because no one player has an advantage. Another idea could be spawning ammo inside drawers and cabinets. Make the cabinets and drawers so they can be opened and closed. This makes the player look throughout the house for possible ammo.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

That's great. But, helping with rules in board games and RPG's has a limited application to a game like DayZ. I'd rather leave the game theory to the developers of DayZ, thank you very much.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

"Your arguments so far have been based upon ignoring past evidence that doesn't fit with your view of what you want and ignoring game theory because against it doesn't fit with what you want." You keep bringing up "game theory" in an obvious attempt to assign validity to your points of view. And points of views are just opinions. You say I'm ignoring your (imaginary) game theory because it "doesn't fit with what you want." When in fact, that's exactly what you're doing. Now you mention "past evidence". Past evidence from where? What past apocalypse have you survived to base your opinion/game theory on? The only "past experience" that's relevant to DayZ is that of an actual apocalypse. Since we have no real past apocalypse to base DayZ on, we have to tap from our imaginations. Which leads us right back to our opinions. The developers of DayZ are designing the game based on their opinions of what life in an infected post-apocalyptic world would be like. This bullshit game theory you keep digging up, like a dead body, has no relevance in a game that's being designed around an imaginary situation. Being an imaginary situation is a great setup, because it opens up the possibilities of what could happen in this imaginary situation. Choices are more vast and open as well. You use your "game theory" in an obvious effort to control the parameters of what you think should be considered for the world of DayZ. To suggest that I'm only interested in what I want is laughable, and just makes you look arrogant. I'm here to share ideas like everyone else. However DayZ turns out, I'll have to adapt to whether I like it or not. I'm content to leave it up to the developers to how DayZ turns out. I think they're doing a great job so far. I don't need delusional concepts like "game theory" to consider what DayZ needs to become a good game.

The new 3pp camera and FOV Slider

As scriptfactory said, "Source?" The 3pp view is a completely different experience then 1pp. It provides a wider view by default. Anything about the 3pp view can be shoehorned into an "exploit". If it really bothers you, then just play on 1pp servers. And let people who prefer 3pp have their own experience. There's nothing that is more of an "exploit" then someone trying to alter another player's experience because they don't like what they're experiencing. The simplest and most obvious solution to this stupid 1pp/3pp debate is to create separate servers for 1pp and 3pp. Stop trying force someone else to adapt to your preferences.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

Going "backwards" is your opinion. I don't care about the mods. It doesn't matter what the mods had. We're talking about DayZ here. You're CHOOSING to include the mods in your reasoning though they are completely irrelevant. I still believe weapons should sometimes spawn with ammo and sometimes not. As the game is now, I never find ammo anywhere near its related weapon. I'm looking for the best, most balanced experience in DayZ. I could care less what happened in the mods. If there are similarities in DayZ to past mods, that's life. Just because YOU may not like certain features in DayZ doesn't mean we're going backwards. That's just YOUR opinion. If your opinions really matter, you'll see them manifest in DayZ. Until then, play the game or do something else with your time. You're not helping anyone by comparing DayZ to past mods.

    Should guns spawn loaded?

I have yet to experience any of the situations you mention above involving guns spawning with multiple clips or excessive ammo, except in the rare loot explosions. I've had situations where I would be fortunate enough to come across a weapon and I find a few bullets. But, never multiple clips and tons of ammo. I'm happy finding ANY weapon much less some ammo. Comparing weapon quality is pointless. I might find a Shotgun but wish I found a Mosin. So, I hang onto the shotgun until I find a Mosin. Either way I'm armed. Chances are I'll find ammo for the shotgun before I find a Mosin. The bottom line is that I'm armed. Your focusing on weapon quality is such a moot point, and it's never been an issue with me - ever. I'll keep playing DayZ without ever worrying about what weapons I find. Because ultimately I am able to arm myself quite well in DayZ regardless of the weapons I find.

These new bugs are the real game breakers!

There's this feature called "Feedback Tracker". It's where you report bugs you experience while playing DayZ. Listen to what Survivor said. When patches are released, there's always a high likelihood that other features will "break". Of course it's "game breaking". Games are broken constantly throughout their development. Posting this thread tells me you're not paying attention to the fact that this forum is here to help the developers "develop" DayZ. Now, be a good little alpha tester and report your issues through the Feedback Tracker. Oh, I have an extra can of Tactical Bacon. Here, you can have it. Cheers.

Can you sneak/make no sound when walking?

I'll be curious to see where this discussion goes. Will the people who want 3pp killed turn around and support silent footsteps? It's one thing to have "quieter" footsteps, it's another to approach someone in complete silence. I would find quiet footsteps ok, but not silent ones.

The new 3pp camera and FOV Slider

Do you work for Bohemia? Can you point me to their "vision" where they mention 3pp view going against their plans for DayZ? You talk about it in a matter-of-fact like fashion I'm guessing you're sitting in on the company meetings about DayZ. So? Where's the link?
