I'm guessing this is a PS4 issue. But, whenever I log off a server for the day, or leave a laggy server, I never respawn at the last location my character was at. I always respawn where freshies would spawn. Why is that? Is that being worked on?
-
I notice some servers in the server list have an icon that is a wrench with a green dot next to it. Can someone explain to me what that is? Thanks in advance.
-
Ah. Ok. Thanks.
-
I understand that. But, it also happens when I log out for the day. Come back the next day and log back in. Do I have to pick the same exact server to log back into even if it's the next day?
-
I've looked at the community server list, but I have no idea how to tell which ones are good. Are there some community servers with decent loot? My biggest pet peeve with DayZ on PS4 at the moment is that it has such horrible loot economy. Thanks.

I have frozen twice in DayZ. Once, I was completely alone, not interacting with anyone or anything. The second time, I was talking with one player trying to decide if he was trustworthy when I suddenly froze. I logged out, and logged back in. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the guy not only left me alone, but he didn't take any of my gear.

Server goes down, I respawn nowhere near my last location
vfxtodd posted a topic in New Player Discussion
In the past, when your server went down, you would respawn around the same area you last were. The server I was just on restarted. So, I jumped back in - always choosing a server with Persistence ON - yet I'm now spawning where freshies spawn. Why is that? Why has that changed? -
I traveled to a town after spawning, and logged out inside of a house. Yet, when I came back the next day and logged in, I was in the middle of nowhere. Why is this happening? In the past, you would always log in where you left off. I play on PS4, but, I posted it here since I get the feeling that the PS4 forums don't really get much attention. Except from other players. Is this happening to players on PC or XBox? Or is this another lovely PS4 glitch out of many?

It's good to know I'm not alone with my experiences with DayZ on the PS4. Minutes after I spawn, my water health is already yellow. And I usually die from starvation in less than an hour. I played DayZ on PC a couple years ago and never had issues like what I have on PS4. Even when DayZ first came out on PS4 it was better. There was lag, but at least there was more loot than there is now.

All I've been doing is spawning in the middle of nowhere, whether I'm on Livonia or Chenraus, and dying of starvation. I go on Livonia servers, I spawn in the middle of nowhere. Nothing but trees and mountains in every direction I look. I start running, picking any direction, since I don't know the map. Plus, I can't learn Livonia since I'm constantly spawning and starving to death before I get anywhere where there's food or water. Same on Chenaraus. I just spawn and have no idea where I am. Yet, I am so far away from anything that I die of starvation there as well. I've spent the last two days in DayZ spawning and dying of starvation. Wow. What a survival game. DayZ has become DayZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz. It used to be fun. Now it's just frustrating and boring.

Tonight is the third time in a week where my character just froze. Nope, the game didn't freeze. Just my character. I still see the trees moving from the wind, and hear the wind blowing, so I know the game seems to keep running. How is it after all this time DayZ still has major issues. I wish devs would just fix a game before adding features. I like being able to vault walls. But, I'd be happier if loot wasn't so scarce and I was dying from starvation constantly.
-
Well, that explains a lot. So, how do I track fixes for the PS4 version? I'm starting to think I should wait until after the next patch. Though I know that patches sometimes fix some things, and break something else. It's the meta in game development these days it seems.

Too many zombies. I just came from a server, which I thought was Chenaraus, where I was having some success at finding food and supplies. When I was skinning a chicken, all of a sudden a zombie appeared and attacked me. Next thing I know, another zombie magically appeared. And I found myself fighting off two at the same time. Funny though, I didn't hear either one of these zombies growling nearby before the attack. I left the server when my character suddenly froze. The game didn't freeze because I could see everything else still moving and the wind blowing. This is the third time in a week that this has happened. It NEVER happened before. Game developers seem to be getting dumber over time. Every game I've played this past year has had more bugs than a rotting corpse. A year later, Battlefield 5 still doesn't perform well on consoles. Maybe it's a console thing. I don't know.
-
Yep. I use mainly Macs for film making. I'm experiencing issues with other console games as well.

Ive been playing DayZ for four years. The state it's in now is atrocious compared to the buggier versions of the past. My most common experience now is spawn (in the middle of nowhere - which is especially disturbing on a new map like Livonia)....run and run...and run....and run. Find lots of clothes and glow sticks. Not much else. And DIE from starvation. I know how to play DayZ. But, the loot economy is utter crap, DayZ used to have better loot frequency. I don''t mind spawning as a freshie. I welcome it actually because it maintains the survival side of the game. I don't mind just eating to survive. As long as I can survive and keep moving around and finding things, I'm ok. But, lately, I just spawn...run around and find clothes and glow sticks...and then die from starvation. I have NEVER had this kind of repetitious experience before. There are more zombies than ever. Now I start fighting one zombie, all of a sudden a swarm shows up. Shortly after I usually starve to death for the lack of ANYTHING on ANY of these servers. Livonia is a new map. I haven't learned it, yet. But, even still, I always spawn with nothing but trees and mountains as far as the eye can see. And 80% of the time I just die from starvation. I've never seen DayZ with this little loot or supplies. LOTS of clothes everywhere. And fricken glow sticks. Glow sticks? Really? That's what you're gonna find in a post apocalyptic world? Glow sticks? Sorry, but this is not the DayZ I came to love to play. This is horrendous.

I wish there was some way I could know if I'm joining a daytime or night time server. Right now, I'm just learning the Livonia map. So, I'd rather play in the daytime. Yet, I keep finding myself on night time servers. Any chance I can pick one?

UPDATE: After my character froze in the above situation, I immediately shut down DayZ. Straight to my PS4 home page. The next day, I went back in, and to my surprise I discovered that the guy with an exe either left me alone, or my character disappeared too fast for him to take my supplies. I couldn't say for sure. Suffice it to say, I eventually did get killed with all of those lovely supplies. And honestly, I don't mind the dying part. I actually enjoy starting as a fresh spawn and starting a new adventure. What has become frustrating to me is that, too often, I just survive with food and nothing else happens. I don't mind surviving, and keep playing. But, it's just that loot is harder to find more often than not. It gets to a point where I'm just running all over the place and my experience becomes repetitious. When I first started playing DayZ, there were a lot of bugs. But, I also had access to more supplies of food and ammo, etc. Which gave me a wider variety of experiences despite the bugs. Now, I spend hours and hours running around trying to avoid contact since I can hardly find any means to protect myself anymore. So. When my character froze, it just became another reminder that DayZ seems to be a never-ending series of bugs and glitches. Oh, by the way, the email notifications STILL don't work. I post something and I never get an email when someone replies.

This is getting old. I finally get some good supplies. Staying alive just enough to keep moving. Great. Then, I come across another player with an axe out. Suddenly, my character can't move. When I first started playing DayZ, some...I don't know...four years ago or so. It was fun. I could always find supplies. Meet interesting players. Usually find enough ammo and a weapon to protect myself, if needed. Years later. Loot is hard to find. My first two experiences in Livonia I spawn in the middle of nowhere and die of starvation both times. Now, I find lots of meds, charcoal tablets, etc. etc. Found a weapon with some ammo. Awesome. Then a player walks up to me with an axe in hand. And my character can't move. The frustration of an underdeveloped game just never ends.

The last couple times I played, I kept spawning on night time servers. Is there a way to find a day time server? Thanks in advance.
-
In the past, I double tapped the aiming trigger to go from 3rd person to actual ADS. But, I haven't been able to do that. So, I just go on first person servers. I normally prefer FP servers, but sometimes I jump on TP servers because there seem to be more of them.
-
I do like the night time. But, I wish they brought back the moonlight they had a while back, where you could still see around you but there were still plenty of shadowed areas.
-
Since I started playing DayZ on PS4, I've had a better experience than I did on the XBox version. But, I am unable to tell which servers are first person. If there are first person servers for the PS4 version, how can I find them? Thanks in advance.
-
Ok. Thanks. Will do.
-
I miss the time when they had moonlight in DayZ during the night cycle. It gave the environment that nice blueish light over the scene. I wish they stuck with that.

I haven't been playing DayZ too much. But, recently I jumped into DayZ on XBox and I"m starting to experience lag that I hadn't in the past. I would usually experience some lag when I first join. But, after a few minutes it would smooth out. Yet, the last couple times I logged in the lag wouldn't go away. Is this an issue for others?
