I finally got my hands on a. Mosin and some ammo. Can anyone tell me where are the best places to find ammo and a scope for the Mosin? By the way, how do I get email notifications for my posts? I turned on notifications, but, I never receive any notifications in my email. Thanks in advance.

I just crafted a new hand drill. Dry. Place a fireplace. Put hand drill in hand, hovered over fireplace. Nothing. Can't start a fire. Now what?

I don't know why I wasn't able to see servers on the Community tab for PS4 before. But. today I went back and I refreshed the server list in the Community tab and the servers showed up. And I found the server I was looking for.

I see these YouTube videos of PC players building bases and stockpiling 20-30 guns and rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammo. Does this affect the loot for the rest of the server? I would think there's a limit of loot on each server. Are there areas on the Chanaurus and Lovonia that players should hang around to get weapons and ammo? Because I find myself running around for hours hardly finding anything. Even at military locations. It makes me wonder if the hoarding of weapons and ammo affects the rest of the server. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks.

All is good. I figured out how to properly make a fireplace. So, I've been surviving by killing chickens and cooking them. Now, finding weapons and ammo is another adventure.

Well, it's interesting that my character can sneeze when he's cold. But, my current character is near death because I can''t light a fire. I have several pieces of chicken meat, a box of Pristine matches, and a hand drill. But, I cannot light a fire. How is it that a game that's been in development for years still can't get a simple mechanic to work. It's a survival game. If I can't light a fire to cook food, how am I supposed to survive? I guess by the time this character dies from starvation MAYBE I will be able to light a fire with my next spawn. Maybe?

I find myself walking along and I suddenly notice I am bleeding. No, I haven't been attacked. So, I apply a bandage and stop the bleeding. A few minutes later, I look down and again I'm bleeding again. Yet, I have had no contact with any zeds or players. Or anything. So...what's going on??

Can someone tell me if it's possible to reload a BK-18 without opening my inventory? Thanks in advance.

No. The only thing that's worked so far is if I combine a rag with firewood. I can light it with matches without a hitch. As I said, I watched a YouTube video where someone said I just combine a short stick and a log/firewood to make a fireplace. While I can do that, I cannot light it. Once I combined a rag with the firewood, I was able to light a fire. I haven't tried the hand drill with the rag/firewood, yet. But, I'm guessing it will work. Can bark be combined with firewood? So far, I've only made a hand drill with a short stick and bark. But, if there are other combinations, I am open to suggestions. I've only shared my experience so far.

I have filled a blood bag with my own blood. What do i need to combine with it to give myself blood later when I need it? Thanks in advance.

I just realized I watched the wrong YouTube video. I found another video that showed that I had to add a rag to my fireplace. The first video I saw, it showed that you can make a fireplace with logs and a short stick. While that's clearly possible, they left out the rag part. Now, after adding a rag to my fireplace, I had no problems. Now, I will see if the hand drill will work, too. Probably will. LOL.

I'm able to start a fire with rags and matches. So, I guess I can add sticks and logs to that?

I just tried hopping in Livonia to see if that made a difference. Still can't light a fire. It ain''t desync. It's just poor game design and coding. Don't need to be a game developer to figure that much out.

I just rebooted my PS4. Logged back in, and still I can't start a fire with my hand drill or matches. Pristine matches at that.

I noticed in the notes for 1.07 that PC players can choose between a "bright" night environment, or a "dark" night. Will console players have the same controls? Personally, I prefer the moonlit night version from the past that was once present in the game. I was so disappointed when they took that away. I've never been in an environment - out in the woods - where it was pitch black everywhere like it is in DayZ. It's not immersive at all if it's as dark as an isolation tank. Hello? I've gone camping deep in the woods, and if the moon is out, it's not pitch black. So, why did they take moonlight away?

I've tried on both Chenaurus and Livonia servers. With a fireplace and a (dry) hand drill or matches I am unable to start a fire to warm up or cook food. Until this is fixed, I'm not playing the game.

How did you start the fire? I have both matches and the hand drill. I just now jumped on, and tried again. And STILL I cannot start a fire.

Take it as you want. I just don't see the point in playing a game where two of the main forms of survival, cooking and staying warm in this case, are not even operational. If someone tells me they found a way to make it work, I will try it out. But, if I can't start a fire to cook or stay warm, it limits my choices for survival in a game that is about survival. You should stop making assumptions about why people share their experiences or opinions.

Disagree. There are already severely unrealistic elements to DayZ as a survival game. In real life, I doubt you would have mechanics that didn't work. Like lighting a fire, which currently is NOT working at all on PS4. Night time should include moonlight, if the moon is full. I'm watching a 3-hour video (1.07) by the RunningManZ right now. At 28 minutes into the video, he is in a town in an open area with a clearly full moon, and it's as dark as inside an isolation tank. Which isn't remotely realistic. I don't care where you live. If a full moon is out, you should be able to see better than being inside an isolation tank. Video games tweak reality for a reason. If games were completely realistic, as you seem to be seeking, they would be utterly unplayable. So, no, don't revert DayZ.

I'm able to put down my fireplaces. I just can't light then with a hand drill or matches. It's ridiculous. I can't cook any food. Simple tasks are unavailable.

Needs another update. I cannot light my fireplace even with a dry hand drill or matches. Why is this a problem?

I started out playing DayZ a little over four years ago. I had an ok PC, which worked for a while. I realized that I would really need a better PC to get the best experience in DayZ. Then I heard they were bringing DayZ to the console. Oh, happy days. So, I got DayZ for XBox when I had both an XBox One and a PS4. I preferred PS4 games, but I wanted to play DayZ. Performance of DayZ on XBox was laggy. But, it was new to console, so I waited. Then DayZ came out on PS4. So, I tried the PS4 version. Now, with Livonia, I thought my DayZ experience would be more fun and entertaining. Unfortunately, it seems like the console version of DayZ has a ways to go. But, the PC version took a while, too. The problem I'm having with the console versions is the loot economy. Whether I play on XBox or PS4, or whether I play in Chenaurus or Livonia, the experience is the same. There's hardly any food. There are lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of clothes. Not much else. But, today, started out promising. I decided to spawn in Chenaurus. Since, lately, I mostly spawn, starve to death and respawn over and over. I thought since I knew Chenaurus better, I should stick to starting there. So, I happily found a military base and found the SG5 or whatever, and found lots of ammo for it. I killed a zombie that had a can of beans. I only had an axe to open it with, so I lost almost half of the beans. Cool. I thought there was hope. But, sure enough, that was the end of it. From there I could find nothing to kill or cook. Much less a knife. I found a town near Balota. (Can't remember all the town as its been a while since I played in Chenaurus, though I still had an idea of where to go.) Yet, still I could not find any animals, much less a chicken. I even gathered wood and sticks, in case I found matches or something to start a fire with. I was clearly on my way to starving to death. Again! So, I thought, screw it, I'll just take my SG5-whatever and start shooting zombies. In less than a minute I was dead from zombie attacks. I can't do this anymore. I'm done with this nonsense. When I first started playing DayZ, even on a cheesy PC, I had way more fun. There was enough food and supplies on the map to survive. I don't mind not finding weapons, or at least an axe. I don't even mind dying if I know I can find something to survive on and keep going. When I'm unarmed, I just avoid other players unless I run into one, and then I try to talk to them. But, it's been well over a year since I last had an entertaining experience on DayZ. As far as game performance goes, DayZ plays fine on XBox or PS4. It isn't the performance of the game that annoys me. It's the lack of means to survive. Like I said, I don't mind dying if I can at least find enough sustenance to survive. But, for the past month, I just spawn, die of starvation/dehydration and respawn. Rinse and repeat. Repeat. Repeat. I never had this kind of experience in DayZ in the past. So, why now? Why? I have no inspiration to play anymore.

After doing a lot of YouTube searching, I learned how to light a fire without matches. So, I constructed a fireplace. And I crafted the hand drill kit. Then, I placed the fireplace. Put the hand drill in my hands, moved over the fireplace, but never got the "ignite with hand drill" popup. All I saw was a popup to pick up the fireplace. I even went into first person view, kneeled down near the fireplace, and nothing. Is this another PS4 bug? Or is there another approach? Thanks in advance.
