I posted this because my computer has never had problems playing DayZ before today. Lag or whatever. I've played heavy games with much weaker computers before. Where do I look to see where the servers are based? And population wise, I played mostly on low pop servers today.

I just got killed by a zombie even though I was completely healthy. I was fully kitted and ready to rock, when extreme lag disabled me. A zombie started attacking me, clearly unaffected by the lag, and my character was killed. Respawned as a freshie. Not a fun dayz on dayz.

So, basically, spawn...go inland for food and melee, etc. Is that a basic good way to start?

Because of work, I can see myself playing DayZ late at night. Can I still find a server that is running DayZ where the sun is still up? Thanks.

It's frustrating. I just now spawned with a zombie hitting me. My character is about to die of starvation because I've been running from town to town and finding no food or weapons for the ammo I have. I'll check out the maps to see where I am in relation to bases. Although I hear that's where a lot of people go to camp and shoot. Edit: Correction...my character just died of starvation.

i played DayZ for the first time yesterday. I made sure to jump on crowded servers to increase the likelihood of running into people. Despite this I only met three people. I know it had to do with where I go when I spawn. Despite watching tons of DayZ videos, I still have no idea where I am when I spawn. For instance, when I spawn on the shore, should I head east or west for supplies and weapons? When I spawn inland, should I run south towards the shore? I don't mind running into other players even if I get killed. I know that happens in DayZ. One guy gave me food and then shot me. No surprise there. Anyway, just looking for pointers on what's best when spawning. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Kirby. It's the one thing I found cool about DayZ is that you can play it in so many ways. Although I was rather surprised when I was struck by a zed from behind moments after one of my spawns. But, hey, that makes it exciting, too. Gotta be on your toes. Hehe.

Thanks, everyone. Yea, I think about weapons mainly to protect me and my loot. But I love the whole survivor/lone wolf aspect of DayZ. It's one of the more "real" visceral games around. And it requires more thinking then a lot of other games. I'm tired of Call of Duty's clusterfrack experience. Mindless is fun for a while, then it gets old.

Haha. I live in Santa Monica, California. Pacific Standard Time. I notice in the server list there are times showing. Is that what I look for? If it says 09:00, does that mean it's 9:00am on that server?

Heading inland from the coast, what should I look for for weapons? I picked up guns easily. Finding ammo was the hardest part. Are there hotspots for ammo? Can I find ammo if I go from town to town along the coast? Or is ammo found mostly inland?

Getting a new pc tomorrow. Can't wait to start playing DayZ. ...how do I punch? How do I raise hand to wave? How do I give the "bird" (middle finger)? I found a link to the DayZ keyboard shortcuts. But it doesn't show everything. If there is any other advice I should know please post it here. Thanks in advance. :)

Just hooked up my new Alienware x51...and I'm downloading DayZ as I type this from my iPhone 6. Yea, I'm ready to die. Haha. I've watched tons of DayZ videos on YouTube so I'm sorta prepared of what to expect. My main concern is getting around, learning the DayZ landscape. Etc
