Server-side Hotfix 0.7.2, Helicopter status and server info
slyder73 replied to Vipeax's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
In Arma2, when you bail out, your parachute will start to open. You will be falling at a speed based on your trajectory and forward motion. If you are high enough, your chute will have time to open and slow you down. Going slow in a chopper and ejecting, minimum distance would be about 80 or 90 meters, higher if trees etc nearby. If you are lower than that, you will hit the ground before your chute can deploy and slow you down. -
Will equipping my hatchet from toolbar destroy my rifle?
slyder73 replied to kragz's topic in New Player Discussion
A rifle takes up 10 slots in the backpack, add to that any ammunition slots you need. You have to have room for it all or your rifle and ammo may disappear. -
Server-side Hotfix 0.7.2, Helicopter status and server info

My buddies and I are fixated on your server because that is where our modest little 3 tent camp is set up. Not discovered yet, and keeps us going for longer expeditions away from our "secret" location. If the hackers are attacking then I'm glad we haven't been there to die and lose our stuff. A little anxious not being able to check and resave our tents. Not sure how long they last before they disappear or respawn. THe regular Arma2 server I play on gets hacked all the time, the admin has some scripts he uses to help identify the culprits for a ban. So there are tools out there, no idea what they are or where though. -
No, this has been happening in Arma2 since it came out. It will continue as BI needs to deal with this and they haven't been interested in the past few years or it would restrict the engine flexibility needed for all the different missions, mods etc for the game. In the past couple years on the regular servers I play on, we are a group that has played together for years so the admin usually can tell who the "new" guy is who hacks. They get banned. Hackers can be banned from servers easy enough, the problem is identifying who they are. The DayZ mod involves a persistent database so hackers are more of an issue/frustraton though, I can see that, though have been lucky not yet to have experienced a hacker.

Server-side Hotfix 0.7.2, Helicopter status and server info
slyder73 replied to Vipeax's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
US 239 has been locked since Friday when the announcement was made. As of last night still locked with only owner and 4 others in it. -
Good to see some new players have patience and willing to get through the big learning curve. Look up the DayZdb map on google and bookmark it. That has all the loot spawns etc. You can navigate with the map using landmarks and the contour lines. That will ease a lot of your frustration and allow you to get gear at the many places besides the main towns. Also, don't run like you have been doingl. Move cover to cover and ALWAYS check the open areas and tree lines when you need to run between them. There will be someone ready kill you everywhere and running around in visible areas is an invitation to be shot. Good luck!

Still a single shot in the head. Just run into a building and get them at the door. If all you have is a revolver, either don't get into the shitstorm, or run right through it into a building and shoot them in the head at the few second freeze for when they get to the door. Or don't use a revolver, use the hatchet in those circumstances. One shot, and silent in the building.

In a realistic game you expect it to "wear off"? LOL, go back to CoD or whatever game out there that has "wear off injuries", broken bones that heal in a few seconds or minutes. You want to be able to join with a friend. Whining again. Just use that map you googled to navigate by landmarks and countour elevation lines, no problem. Oh wait, I guess you were expecting a mini-map with a little arrow showing you where your buddy was? That is what makes this game GREAT! That you HAVE to learn these things to find each other and always have to be thinking if you don't want to die or get lost. Again, this game seems not for you. If you ran into a building and it didn't help you were just doing it so wrong there is no point trying to explain. Clearly you talk overblown crap and exaggerated all of your times etc, including this. Going into a building makes the Zombies stop for a few seconds at the door and then move VERY slowly into the building. If you went out the back or just ran out past them around the corner you'd lose them. But of course you never really tried did you? If you are being chased and need to bandage, run into building (see point above). Zombies cannot catch you, the run faster and catch up but have to stop to hit you. You get inside, bandage and then....see point above again. The zombie you encountered first that broke your bones was your fault entirely. If you don't understand why yet, then you havne't played the mod long enough to have any credibility to say it wasn't. Unless you mess up real bad, they shouldn't hit you. Just run indoors...or zig zag through trees or a forest and keep going. They get lost very easily. You bought minecraft in Alpha? No you didn't. Again you lie and exaggerate. Minecraft did not charge money ANYWHERE for alpha. I can suggest a few games you might feel good playing and not be all "butthurt" as folks these days like to describe the cognitive state you seem to be in. Enjoy those other games.

This is the same state Arma2 has been in for years. The regular Arma2 server I"ve played on for years, since Arma2 came out has had hackers a few times a week. It still gets hackers a couple times a week. Because we all play as a regular group we all know each other. The only way the owner has been able to catch and ban them has been his knowing the regular group of players very well and playing with them for years. When a hacker shows up, as they do often, and the server gets bombed, or teleports are happening or new equipment that doesn't belong on the particular mission appears, the admin knows because HE built all the missions the server uses. Ban is easy. On the DayZ mod, with characters saving over time and over multiple servers, something that Arma2 never did, the stakes are much higher. Unfortunately the same tools are still available to admins and BI has NEVER made an effort since Arma2 came out to try to deal with hackers and scripters. If you came to Arma2 for DayZ you will just have to wait for a stand alone game to deal with this.

Nah, they work fine. Players need to stop whining at every change that makes them have to work harder and THINK more. The "nerfs" make sense in bringing the cartridge power to consistent and realistic level compared to the other rounds. For the past 2 years, the pistol ammunition was over powered.

Beware Of Player: HELI HUNTER
slyder73 replied to Mad_Vengeance (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, if you have proof post it. Not point beating around the bullshit bush. Hackers should be banned, it takes evidence to ban them. The Dev team need to see the hacks to direct them in responding to it. The Battleye team needs to see it to do a ban. Post your evidence. Then hope if it is legit proof the hacker is banned. -
To whoever took the chopper on 1145

1 shot, through the windshield at the pilot. :D This has always been my greatest pleasure these last years playing Arma2...sniping helicopter and fighter pilots on the fly. LOL -

One of them was US 239. That one is still locked from Friday, with just the admins on. I'm betting they are trying to lock down the choppers first then they will unlock. I thought servers weren't supposed to lock for days on end? -

FANTASTIC!!! And good sport coming on here to "touche" the guy. I hope to steal my own chopper some day. I just hope it isn't some admin's chopper and the boot everyone to get it back. LOL -
As long as I didn't hack it in right?
slyder73 replied to Flex Plexico's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Drop it and don't use it. I'ts a hacked weapon and that sort of stuff ruins the game. If you use it, I hope you get a global ban. -
The Reason more and more people don't enjoy DayZ
slyder73 replied to B Allred's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't generalize. I'm not getting fed up with the game, and neither are those I play with. The video you posted shows exactly why this game is great! There is no sure thing, no predictibility, no way to tell who is friendly or not. It forces you to be careful like you clearly were not and makes you distrustful of all other players like you should have been. Next time title the thread, "the reason I get frustrated," not assuming that because you think something the rest of us also think it. -
Don't kill yourself. Here is a link to the detailed map, including loot spawns etc. You just have to figure out where you are. When you login, watch the bottom right of your screen. It will flash your location in general. Go there on the map and then use the landmarks, countour lines for elevation and figure out where you are. Just use the map to navigate and always make sure you know where you are. You don't have to go to the big cities where unequiped players are sure to die. There are hundreds of gear spots all over the map, the deer stands have all the military gear you will find at the airfields and there are many deer stands, probably some right near you. http://dayzdb.com/map

No, not accurate, at distance, the player model will not appear naked on a bare plain, but will somewhat "sink" into the terrain. BI implemented this a couple years ago. It doesn't work as completely as intended and ANY movement at all, turning of the head or rotating of the body makes the entire body pop up and be unconcealed in it's entirety.

THen you are trolling and lying. The respawn button still works if you have a fractured leg. Learn to read the change log before you try to make up a troll story.

Grab the loot spawn map link (different computer, don't have the database map handy), and use that to navigate from your spawn. There really is NO reason to go near Cherno or Elektro. There are hundreds of good loot spawn spread all over the map. if you can navigate by the map using landmarks and countour lines, lay of the land you have no problem. Once you work your way to the towns away from the big ones you'll get geared up faster and avoid getting killed doing it. Zombie are a non-issue, they spawn wherever you go and are easy to avoid or hatchet kill. To each their own, but I haven't been in Elektro or Cherno, or Berezino for that matter in over a month (three lives). Each restart it was straight to the nearest few treestands and towns in the center for gear, compass, map, guns and beans. Usuallly armed up and set up in a night and the following two nights are getting together with group and getting us all to military grade.

Crazy graphical glitches after updating to 1.7.2.4 and 95389
slyder73 replied to Ewan123's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Calm your shorts. They did test, but testing with a few dozen testers cannot possibly match being tested (it is Alpha, so you playing IS testing) by several tens of thousands of different combinations of computer systems and specs. Many more issues will come up when the versions "hit the street" so to speak. Try to be helpful if you are getting the issue and post where and what your specs are. -
Great first life story! Good luck! You're bringing the average lifespan up. :D
