    If you have access to all three, magazines (for the SVD) and enough ammo the SVD is probably the best option as it outperforms the other two in combat. Now the hunting rifles fire the superior ammo in terms of utility (bigger stacks and more common), are much easier to find and use to their full potential and can mount the Hunting Scope for arguably better long range shots. Of the two the Winchester makes more use of the "needs no magazines" property and features a turn rate comparable to SMGs while the Blaze seems to be quieter and allows for followup shots.

    How tall is the character?

    If you overdo it - yes. Otherwise it makes the game more interesting and all I wrote above was specifically meant to be only of minor impact and on a continuous scale without making the character significantly stronger or weaker overall. In the best case every height is equally strong but a little different and not being able to choose from the start can help smoothing out minor imbalances. The gender thing is more difficult as the nature of games usually tends to lean towards masculine-oriented gameplay where male characters naturally have an advantage so I would keep it equal between males and females maybe aside from average size and its implications. It's a matter of how healthy a certain feature would be for gameplay. In DayZ size has potential, gender based stat differences probably not.

    Balance-wise realism could become handy again. Size could have the following (minor) effects: require more foodbigger hitboxhigher running speedlower accelerationmore reach on melee attacks and world interactionsIf those effects are relatively balanced and characters get a random size on respawn it would rather increase diversity than give advantages to lucky players. Overall it would make for a more authentic world where people are not of the same height all the time which might even be expanded on by making males taller than females (on average).

    This seems to be the route that sees the most travel and it's fair to assume that hundreds of players traveled there before and picked it clean. Loot respawning seems to have some issues that cause loot to concentrate in a few places around the map while other - once looted - only spawn a few items. You are probably better off not following high traffic routes if you want to find loot. I also found not using a map and not traveling over long distances to a certain place to loot it increased the loot amount I found maybe because my movement ended up being more random and thus probably less in line with the other players.

    Reduce semi-auto fire rate

    There is - most of those values are comparable or longer than the fire rate of full auto weapons (for example it's 0.1s for the SKS and 0.3s for the Magnum while the AKM has 0.1s rate of fire). Now as you need to click for every shot you end up shooting much slower most of the time even though in theory you could fire at the same rate as many full auto weapons. I believe you cannot queue shots so clicking within this time frame simply does nothing - which means you don't only need 600 clicks per minute but you also have to time them perfectly within fractions of a second.

    I am completely fine with bright colors and even simple patterns (not nearly as elaborate as the one above and probably limited to two or three colors). However, it should be applied ingame - apply background, create template - with all the resources needing to be found and spent. Effort is the key here - not everyone should run around with a highly customized item but people who really want to and are willing to put some work into it should be able to do so. "Breaking the immersion" of the "reality is dull and green or brown" crowd is not an argument unless the customization in question is way too easy to get. Heavy customization should not be something you just do along the way but something you really need to put a lot of work into. As such it might make for a creative "end game" feature.

    How tall is the character?

    I cannot confirm this on 0.58 though. Whenever I compare views the first person camera is sitting firmly in the middle of my characters face - at the lowest it might be nose level but thats a pretty small difference - in fact testing with a strange container in the woods near Elektro suggests eyes and first person camera a perfectly aligned in height (obviously the camera sits between your characters eyes) though "under water" seems to take into account your nose instead. My theory is that third person players are used to playing with the camera pointed downwards and as your character leans forward this will cause a lower camera position in first person. Other than this characters seem to be on the taller side (>1.80m) if you compare them to buildung doors for example.

    Perception must be your dump stat (no offense ;) ): There is a suggestions subforum... ...where things like this were suggested multiple times and in more depth. Procedural gun coloring was announced a while ago. Limited dyeing of clothes is in experimental. There is a search function to find out all that.Though I am all for more options here (and also for spraypainting walls and other world objects). Especially the gun procedure might also be usable to give your character different hair/eye colors and skin tones as well.

    Non centered character

    I still don't think this can be solved by camera position alone as in order to eliminate wall peeking in all directions (over, under, right, left) you need to place it in a way that is basically first person view. So you either end up with not real third person view at all, no real fix to wall peeking or a very strange camera that constantly switches position.It might be better to only solve two directions (over, under) ia camera placement and introduce something like fog of war for the other two (left, right). This allows for a reasonable third person perspective, eliminates wall peeking in most cases and might not eat as many resources (lots of games are running 2D fog of war without any trouble).

    Unlikely. It's more or less a private affair and doesn't really make for a general discussion. Unless you want to discuss whether or not you posted in the right place.Private messages should be the way to go. You can find moderators via the member list where you can filter by user type. Maybe reporting your own post might work as well.

    For two reasons: It does not work. You just reward/punish people for arbitrary actions and enforce a single fixed moral codex that does most likely not reflect any kind of true morality but just "bending the rules". You also indirectly force the morality of whoever implements the system on others. It gives you free information about players you just met and have no chance of getting information about. This eliminates uncertainty and excitement while also giving even more free power (knowledge) to players. Now by 1 we know it does not reflect morality so it also adds aritificial prejudice to players who believe the system to work. Instead an unbiased identification system would work much better as it allows players to make up their own mind and removes the "cover of anonymity" (that helps "bad" players while hurting "good" players) while also not providing free information.

    As much as I like the first concept for server hopping (though with much higher numbers and a way - spawning with a new character - to avoid them) I don't think it would work all that well if the numbers are too high (as in "high enough to make walking more viable in comparison"). Though it might help to add some annoyance to death (thus making it more of a "bad thing" to happen to you) and greatly help slowing down spawn suiciding as well as making it harder to reclaim your stuff. The second is actually what I had in mind but I think it requires two additional features: Players should tend to spawn far away from their corpses when not classified as freshspawn (otherwise you could just keep running at your corpse). Players should tend to spawn away from other players (to reduce the amount of spawnkilling).Now players should not spawn exactly where they did spawn before but rather in a small area around the place. The last seems to be okay at first glance but it might actually run into heavy conflicts with server hopping prevention and group play. Though it might be interesting as server option for private hives.

    That sound exactly like the server not being connected to the hive. This prevents loot from spawning and characters from being loaded. Though I would leave immediately as it might wipe your old character if the connection is restored.

    I really hope they wipe with the next patch though. All that gear gained by servers restarting needs to be removed.

    Actually I would stop playing 1pp if they did that. I do not think you should have two or more characters at the same time at the same hive. It reduces your attachment to your ingame avatar and opens gates for abuse (like using one character for hoarding items or getting quick reinforcements in group PvP). Instead you should switch over to private servers/hives for this. However, I think there should be an option to skip server-hopping/combat-logging prevention measures (waiting times etc.) by starting a new character. Though in this case your old survivor and all of her gear should be wiped.

    Sniper's weapon of choice

    Could you add the Mosin? With the compensator and PU Scope it's the second most accurate gun.You surely do not need the Longarnge Scope to snipe with it. Still for me the Winchester 70 wins: Not that hard to find, abundant high caliber ammo that shrinks down to pistol round size while carried*, very accurate, can mount the Hunting Scope (that makes it even more accurate*), easy to handle even in close quarters* and doesn't even require a magazine. The SVD performs better in actual combat but is much rarer so I would rank it second. The Mosin (as written above more accurate than anything but the SVD) would be third. Tied with the Blaze that gives you great burst and also uses the same shrinking* abundant round as the Winchester. The Trumpet is easy to get and easy to feed but it lacks damage output. The Sporter got more but you need a magazine (guns are easy to find, bullets are easy to find, magazines for some reason are not). Both benefit greatly from magic zeroing on the Hunting Scope*. The CR-527 is basically a worse Winchester 70. That needs a magazine. And military grade ammo*. Because of that Now all of the latter weapons pale in combat performance compared to assault rifles who also benefit from magic zeroing* (especially AK family) and are actually more accurate as their detachable handguards and stocks tend to somehow reduce their dispersion* while fixed ones do not. However, assault rifles tend to run into similar difficulties than the SVD and lack the common high powered rounds. Sure you can spray but it depletes your military garde ammo and makes it easier for others to spot you. *Which is stupid.

    Basically this. Death itself has barely any negative consequences as you only lose what you gained till then anyways which - for a freshspawn - is nothing. So from a risk taking point of view you reduce your chance of getting caught with you pants down while from a moral point of view you don't actually hurt the guy that much (unless he freshspawn suicided to get there or wants to reclaim gear from his former charactes corpse - in a certain light he deserves it a little bit more then). Add to this that guns and bulets are quite easy to find so you won't probably lose much in terms of resources - and of course it also means it's quite possible that the freshspawns threat level suddenly spikes up alot. Finally zombies are relatively few and realtively weak so alerting them should not be as much of an issue unless you are weakened yourself. And of course freshspawns make for easy target practice and power feelings as they are players but can't shoot back. So why wouldn't you kill freshspawns? You are nice. That's more for your own ego than everything else as most people won't get the slightest out of it because player/character identification is missing. Others won't simply be able to reliably tell the people who were nice to them and thus assume you are not one of them. If you are a famous streamer or youtuber it might work out though. You aren't that pathetic. Why kill that low threat guy? If he catches you with your pants down it's your own fault and if he finds something that makes him dangerous and decides to use it against you he at least poses a challenge. You want to team up. Now that's a tricky one. In general the game is easy and you do not need cooperation to do anything. Though it can help with combat and emergency situations. However, players have the tendency to turn on you to get your gear or when they aquire to means to do it. Fresh spawns are very likely to be such guys as they want some gear while also having nothing to lose (and similar to the above lack of identification features makes it close to impossible to recognise them later). I found cooperation working best when both players have the means to kill each other but have proven not to do it and their gear status is about even so the "jealousy pressure" does not apply. That's why freshspawn tend to make bad partners. You fail to do so.

    How to completely stop any spamming from new users and "users"? Require 100 posts before you can post in any topic. Problem solved. That's the same method as stopping server hopping by separating all servers and stopping peeking by removing the third person view.

    I think it should rather be based on volume as weight is a different value and basing stack size on weight might make it "count twice".
  25. I like the aspects of survival and charcter customization and in my opinion it would be great if those could be combined to allow for more choices. Some might be "just for show" while others might have some special use or general utility. Instead of only having "joke", "low tier" and "high tier" items there should be a variety of options that can prove useful under certain circumstances while also having some drawbacks attached to them. On the other side there should also be room for purely cosmetic aspects. I decided to combine all four topics into one (this one) so the others are redundant.
