A new approach to the bandits and heros situation
Evil Minion replied to con_hathy (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
And you just earned your ticket. -
No I don't want my survivor to starve to death because I am unable to play for a few weeks. However, reducing energy and water levels by a moderate fixed amount whenever you log off could be a nice thing to make people worry about supplies.

How to avoid confusion when adding more ammo types
Evil Minion replied to Bruce of Wayne's topic in General Discussion
As long as you can still see the correct ingame model and boxes keep their labels as well. Another idea is to keep both names but don't reference the connection (so you have to know or check if a certain ammo type fits a gun). -
Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode

To be fair its not unbalanced - just stupid. -
A new approach to the bandits and heros situation
Evil Minion replied to con_hathy (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Why would you punish people for being bandits? -
The test is set up in a more generic Fantasy-RPGish context (because most of the relevant games fit this setup) but it can be translated into DayZ as well. So this "hunting orcs" thing can be seen as "lone wolfing for gear" as "experience" roughly translates into aquired gear (and actual player experience). Sometimes its a little tricky (whats a charm wand in DayZ?) but people should be able to manage (even if they just imagine a charm wand in DayZ). People who also play WoW etc. should have no problem answering the questions though.

I would like this also regarding ammo - damaged ammo should have a higher chance of jamming and/or waer down your weapon faster. I don't like this and would rather like to stay on the realistic side. Your weapon wears down by getting used and also by getting hit by attacks (both melee and ranged) and getting dirty/wet. If you pick up a new weapon the condition of your old weapon has no influence. Plasic bags and elastic bands are a good idea in general to keep your items from getting wet and dirty. Use them to craft a "plastic container", that can be used to cover your weapon or to put items inside (similar to a protector case but without extra slots).

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Evil Minion replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
I think he wants both - a special topic to discuss and an overview topic listing the suggestions and the results of the former discussion. Also there is another issue with this topic: Alexei is pouting because of Chris Torchias statement about calibers and realism/gameplay so the chances of new suggestions making it to post one - where they are read - are slim at best. -
Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode
Evil Minion replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
I mostly play hardcore because I hate playing in third person and the advantages it gives you. People peeking around corners or over walls while staying completely invisible themselves kills both immersion and fun for me. If they removed this particular advantage I would play regular as well - but still in 1st person most of the time. In general I don't like 3rd person very much and believe most games make a mistake in providing it in the first place. Because it provides extra data to players that prevents adding depth to the game. The post above (leviathanapsu) summarizes this pretty well - and having all this artificial awareness is a very bad thing in my opinion. -
Most hearts seem to like games with limited or regulated player killing. However, you can meet quite a few in DayZ and there are also youtube videos featuring hearts.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Evil Minion replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Mods got probably tired of having long and detailed topics getting buried in "Please add <already suggested and discussed feature>! K thx!" topics and got a bit overzealous in merging. You can argue whether a certain item deserves a topic on its own or whether it should be added to already existing suggestions. However, I think guns are better off having their own in depth topic in addition to an overview, This way you people can discuss the particular weapon in one and the list of suggested weapons in another. -
So you basically want people who do not have a high end PC to suffer low FPS?

Server hopping is a problem mainly because of the abundance of loot and the easiness to gear up it creates. The most straightforward way to solve this issue is by preventing server hopping from being effective. If there are other ways - why not? Its not like switching servers while keeping your character is a bad thing.

I miss this. :( Bring back durable zombies! And make them more resistant to gunfire, too!

2 things NEEDED to be fixed in next update.
Evil Minion replied to Insane Ruffles's topic in General Discussion
Seems like some buildings will make you "fall" for no reason. I did not randomly break my legs (aside from falling off ladders/stairs) but at some point I suddenly took damage. First I thought someone shot me but there was nobody near. Still both my pants and boots were ruined so it might be that their formerly good condition saved my legs. -
As you can glue a rifle to your back but can't do the same with a pistol their one true advantage (portability) is actually reversed. Add to this that its much harder to find pistol magazines than rifle rounds and rifles in general being very common pistols only serve a stealth or backup role. If they would make rifles less common and pistol magazines easier to find as well as removing the "bonus slot" for rifles (making them require a sling, special backpack or at least a rope to carry them on your back) handguns would actually have a viable place in the arsenal.

1) Gun control is indeed a good thing. 2) Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. 3) People still refuse to learn using the same lame excuse: "Its just...". 4) If real life had respawns society would collapse. 5) If people get bored bad things will happen (okay I knew this before).

Well, its force feeding not 'putting stuff into a restrained players mouth' (as demonstrated above). However, it should not be easy - maybe make it some kind of minigame of players struggling against each other or at least add an animation. On should get the impression of force being applied. Right now its like inverse pickpocketing into someones stomach. (I would also like pickpocketing as well.)
-
If it comes with appropriate downsides there is nothing wrong with it.
-
Could you please mark the new suggestions. Most of this stuff is already on the list.
-
I don't like to break it for you but the .45 ACP doesn't have much stopping power either. However, the bigger rifle rounds should have it.
-
The model is 7.62x54r (as it has the rim), the usage is 7.62x54r (as it fits the Mosin) so its very likely a misnomer. The round seems to be pretty common in towns - both residential (red brick or metal door) and police buildings. Look for flat grey boxes.

remove magazine selection from Action UI, implement smart reloading
Evil Minion replied to commanderbash's topic in Suggestions
Why remove magazine selection from the whole UI? Its enough to remove it from scroll wheel. Nothing wrong with reloading via inventory. Thats why I voted no even though smart reloading is a good idea. However, it should be able to handle different magazine sizes. Edit: Got confused by the OP - yes to removal from action UI. -
Server restart does not give you switch times. Also the whole restarting thing should be less of an issue if they add respawning loot and optimize the game enough to keep running servers for a longer period of time. Thise frequent server restarts are not supposed to stay.
