    Whats your player type?

Yeah - most people are not 100% one type but a mix. However the vast majority should have a primary preference even though they might enjoy other aspects of the game from time to time.

    sawn off episode 931204

Are you sure you actually fired a pellet? Sometimes you can shoot more than 2 times but out of those (my personal maximum was 8!) only two will actually create an impact (seemlingly at random - maybe a connectivity/lag issue) the rest just plays the sound. Also the Shotgun is very inaccurate - up the the point that double-fire has 100% dispersion: I shot a trailer from ~1m distance and the holes appeared ~1m away from each other.
  3. Nice! I like it - better than the Winchester 1895 as I wrote in the gun suggestion topic. About time we get another .357 Magnum weapon. Though sawing off is probably not gonna happen - of you saw off a tubular megazine it just ceases working. Keep it for other weapons (like Mosin -> Obrez or the Blaze).

    Am I the only one...

The old sound is ugly and weird. At least in the videos I have seen because I didn't play DayZ back then. The new sound is a huge improvement but like all current gun sounds it seems way too quiet and sounds less powerful than it should. Thats why it seems "metallic-y". Making it louder and maybe slightly lower pitched might be enough.

    Lock faulty servers!

I did and didn't experience character wipe (EU servers). If you have a server that is constantly wiping your character you might report it to the provider. If its a technical/hardware issue the people here cannot help you.

    Damage Indicator

I don't like this HUD stuff and thats why I voted no. If anything you should look down to see where you are damaged (which would require the addition of some wounds/gore). I can see this for the character/inventory screen though.
  7. Winchester 1894 (or Marlin Model 1894C) While not quite as accurate as the Winchester 1895 in terms of setting it could fit pretty well as a civilian firearm. The reason is that there are versions using the .357 Magnum cartridge which only fits a single gun right now. I think thats a more sensible approach than just adding other revolvers (in this case they should add either a snub nose or one with a very long barrel) or keeping it the only one-gun-bullet. Also I want a lever-action in game for some reason (complete with prone repeating disadvantage). And if you look at it from the other side: You won't get yet another 7.62x54mmR (or other full power round) weapon but a rifle that has a little different feeling about it.

    Make server restart warning compulsory

I have a dream of a DayZ without server resets where loot is dynamic and persistent. Where a server restart keeps (almost) everything the way it was before and only happens once in a while (daily or even less often). This would truly add interesting aspects into the game. But for now reset warnings are okay and will help people to cope with getting kicked out and joining a new world without losing their gear or even their life.

    End game content?

Thats up to you. You can maintain your gear status and protect your base while ensuring your groups survival, you can leave for an exploration tour to learn new things and how others left their footprints in the world, you can try to make the DayZ world a better place by building a community or you can go out raiding other bases or hunting down the most dangerous prey. And there are probably many other option available. "Endgame" is somewhat misleading though as the game has no defined start and no defined end. Its more cyclic.

Apparently I've NEVER eaten rotten fruit before...

Seems accurate as most sicknesses I had went that way. However, players who don't care to get/stay healthy will probably have a much harder time surviving (especially chemical poisoning should be certain death without being healthy and having a water source nearby).
  11. I don't want permanent storage magically linked to the lifeforce of anyone. It should persist even if the owner dies or switches server and it should be lootable by everyone although at some difficulty. Lets say you have a chest with a lock and two keys. Everyone who has one of the keys can access it freely. Everyone else has to break open the chest one way or the other or manage to open the lock which can take quite some time and might create quite some noise. Maybe special equipment is needed.

    Remove LRS from Mosin?

You can mount other scopes on the Mosin in real life - its true that it requires some work but thats true for all weapon scopes (at least you have to calibrate it). In DayZ its plug&play for gameplay reasons. Maybe tone it down by requiring some tools and a little bit of time to add a scope but there is no reason to remove it completely. In general I think attachments should be much harder to find (in beta/final) so most players have to rely on ironsights.
  13. In general I don't like people randomly appearing out of thin air. This goes for freshspawns, server hoppers and even people just logging in. Now you cannot remove this particular feature but you can reduce it. Log ins and server hoppers are discussed elsewhere (also an indicator that I might not be alone with my opinion) so lets concentrate on freshspawns. There are three options I can see so far: provide lots of spawn locations (decreasing the chance of someone spawning in a particular place)provide somewhat predictable spawn areas (which also helps creating a natural "progress" in terms of gearing up)punish death (so suicide-respawn is not worth it at all)Now things that should be avoided: spawning right next to another playerspawning near a high value loot locationspawning inside buildingsAll those points favor coast spawns. More specifically: east coast spawns. Players should not spawn further west than the eastern end of Chernogorsk maybe even east of Elektro. Now instead of having only a few disccrete spawn locations you got a high number along the coast. If a player spawns he will do this in a weighted fashion. The probability to spawn at one specific place... increases with the distance to the next playerincreases with the distance to the next high yield loot areaincreases with the distance to all of your death locations on this serverThis way your chance of getting lucky or unlucky is reduced and everyone gets a fairly "bad" spawn location. Now if you also punish death by adding a significant spawn timer (e.g. 5-10min) suiciding to get a better location is less of an option and going "bambi bandit" (running up to geared players punching them as you have nothing to lose anyways) is much less attractive. 1. So it makes sense to have spawns elsewhere. Spawns at high value loctions are silly. People are already drawn to them and having people spawn there makes them deathzones with even more survivors appearing out of thin air. 2. Its bad and thats why all spawns should be fairly "bad" and death should be a major setback. If you get KoSed and have to wait for several minutes that might be somewhat annoying but on the other side it makes you value your life much more. Suiciding should not be worth it. 3. Dynamic loot respawns can help a lot. Either server-wise with effective measures against server hopping or hive-wise. Loot should respawn away from player activity* so if everyone goes to Berezino for example they would soon run out of supplies and have the choice of either migrate, rely on imports (geared players coming to Berezino from elsewhere) or eventually "starve" to death (in terms of food as well as ammo and medical supplies). 4. I don't see much of a problem right now but maybe the coastline will prove to small on bigger servers pushing player density over acceptable limits. On the other side this would also create a very interesting early game of "getting out of there" or surviving against all odds. *Define in a way that is best for gameplay. E.g. if an item is about to spawn is will appear in the "least active" element of a set partition of the map.

    Server hopping

    1. Can be avoided by picking another server in the first place. Thats why I don't use the play-button - it doesn't show me the server properties. 2. You should not get a timer for getting kicked - if you do this should be fixed. 3. Why don't invite your friend to your server? 4. If you switch hives you probably should not get a switch timer either. Otherwise - see 3. 5. As far as I have seen there is no switch timer after server restart. So if you only add timers for switching between servers in a single hive that did not kick you (admin or otherwise) it should suffice to set X to 1 or 2. Even then you probably want a (shorter) switch timer to prevent duplicating/ghosting - 100 seconds should be enough.

    You sure about that?

Monster? Thats just his stomach! See what hunger does to people!

    Can people stop saying...

Higher amounts of realism are probably something that could be considered for hardcore mode. However, I would like to decouple "first person only" because there might be more fans of this particular part of realism. Heck - if it was for me I would make the whole game - or at least the majority of it - first person only: Easy: 3rd person allowed + downscaled realism Regular: 1st person only + downscaled realism Hardcore: 1st person only + less* downscaled realism *Think of the broken legs.
  18. Evil Minion

    Can people stop saying...

I get what you are saying but those features can be included to a reasonable amount. Example leg-breaking: instead of waiting for ingame days or weeks until your leg grows together its instantly fixed with a morphine injection or a split -> better for gameplay. People sprinting around all the time because there is virtually no reason to move in a different pace is not. I would like a tradeoff between speed, the amount you can carry and combat ability - just like in real life. As long as it isn't overdone and you can still travel around in reasonable speed (or the need to travel is low enough that its not a great loss) its actually better to have it.

    Whats your player type?

I think the Bartle test is more general while Timmy/Johnny/Spike is more about games where the focus is on "winning" anyways. So all three of those types are - to a certain degree - aspects of Diamonds. Timmy leans towards Heart by going for show. Johnny leans towards Spade trying new stuff. And Spike leans towards Club as he enjoys competition and outplaying his opponent.

    Can people stop saying...

Thats actually a stock argument for everyone who doesn't want the game to be realistic. Face it: realism adds challenge and depth while excluding some luxury features. Not everyone wants this, even though it would make the game better (imo). However, its still a game and there will be breaks from reality for technical (a 100% accurate ecosystem), censorship (gore and sexual content), setting (we do have zombies, right?) and gameplay (having to sleep ingame) reasons. Thats the intended "authenticity". Still I would like an "as much realism as possible" approach especially when it benefits the game in general (like realistic gun ballistics, damage and recoil).
  21. Evil Minion

    Server hopping

Wrong. Everyone who is getting shot by your AKM is harmed by that server hopping because without you would not have found it. This also translates into everyone who kills you on a populated server and loots your AKM. Its not because you looted an AKM that might have gone to another player. Its because you joined empty servers and got a high reward at almost no risk. Which is unhealthy for gameplay in general. You can roughly compare it to a DotA/LoL game where someone starts at level 10 instead of having to level up.
  22. Evil Minion

    Whats your player type?

You are most likely a club. ;)
  23. Added. Keep in mind that everything sleeveless would require at least a change in default underwear otherwise it would look silly.
  24. Evil Minion

    Craftable armor

It still protects against melee attacks and might reduce the bullets damage (but not shock) as well as preventing bleeding. Keep in mind that any armor is somewhat heavy and bulky and should impair your movement as well as causing sounds you can't muffle (no sneaking while covered in trash can pieces).
  25. Evil Minion

    Whats your player type?

My number of confirmed kills is one - and this guy probably bled out after he knocked me down (we had a melee fight). There were some people I shot and didn't know their fate though (I expect they survived, except the ones that were finished off by a mate).
