Srsly Bohemia, get your shit together -.-
Evil Minion replied to Poor Panda's topic in General Discussion
Thats like cursing the architect because you cannot get out of that well you intentionally jumped into. :P You could ask someone to unstuck you (not sure if it counts as stuck) or switch to a server where the door isn't blocked. -
I think if they would increase the spawn area to the whole map they also need to weight spawnpoints according to player/loot proximity/density to keep some kind of progress and keep some kind of heterogenous gameplay. Also it would rquire death penalties to me much higher to avoid "suicide roulette" where players just kill themslves until they spawn in a good spot rather tan traveling. Now I am all for increasing the penality for death but with all map spawns it would be just too much to be fun. Also those kind of spawns would add another "teleport feature" that moves traffic away from ingame paths making encounters away fom key locations less common (same as server hopping) thus reducing the overall enjoyment.
-
Well, as far as I understand its not planned to do what you think at all. I think its planned to add loot that is just so rare that it will only spawn in one out of X servers. Not because that server is special but because it just happened to spawn there by chance. The next time it shows up it might appear on your favorite server - you will never know.
-
Because it reduces the risk of looting, causes less travel on on-map routes and causes people to appear out of thin air at high value loot areas much more often. Without server hopping you would have more travel on map roads, incrasing the probability of encounters and thus the risk involved when looting. Thats more challenging and more interesting than walking for hours without meeting anyone only to have some people suddenly appearing inside that house you are about to search after securing the area. Its simply a low risk/high reward feature that reduces the overall fun and challenge of the game. Getting good military loot is reduced to hopping until you get lucky which I expect to feel stale compared to the rush of entering a military area without knowing what awaits you, searching spawns while also watching your back and then getting out. Oter people don't get the chance to meet you while moving from one loot spawn to the other - now DayZ lives from encounters and server hoping does reduce them by shifting travel from "across the map" towards "from one server to the next". Its like giving wildebeest the ability to teleport across Mara River - unfun and frustrating for the crocodiles and not at all exciting or challenging for the wildebeest.

Thats one reason for the poll as some people seem to like it. First or second option of the first question (first if you want to cherry-pick a few places only). Second and third options of the second question and third or forth option of the last question. If in doubt - pick the last option and leave a post.

My brain came up with this line? I also did not ignore your argument - I told you to hide your stash instead of relying on its own camo. Civilian tents come in different colors like blue, red, gre, brown, black etc. They picked blue now deal with it. Or ask for more colors but don't demand a reskin (because thats how the line abve sounds to me). Also there are military tents - but you are right in that they aren't the only tents in green or brown colors. The fact that you believe there is no such thing is funny.
-
Do you mean 7.62x54mmR or Soviet (7.62x39mm) rounds? I found the former quite often but only 6 rounds of the latter - however its probably due to people having looted the areas before. After all they are used in the SKS (which is/was really common), the AKM (most common assault rifle) and the CR527 Carbine so there might be a high demand.
-
Well, then hide yor stash instead of demanding that the developevers should do it for you. Its quite nice that tents are not military tents but rather civiian ones. Mlitary gear should always be pretty rare and hard to get - so for testing purposes the civilian versions work much better. Also makes hiding them a little harder which is a good thing as well.

How many ammo do you carry?
Evil Minion replied to HeroAtDay BanditAtNight's topic in New Player Discussion
Half of my inventory is filled with 9mm rounds including a P1 magazine and two CR75 magazines (seems like pistol magazines finally spawn more often) - but my weapons are a FNX45 and a CR527. -
A myth that is probably untrue. There are some phenomena that could be linked to this: It seems like movement in buildings and around obstacles gets your hitbox stuck in a place while you more on. Zombies will attack the hitbox you left behind damaging you in the process. Thats probably caused by desync.Sometimes when inside buildings (usually upper floors) you will suddenly take damage as if you fell down from some height. The damage itself seems to heal instantly but it leaves your gear (shoes, pants and anything inside) ruined and might break your leg or cause pain. I call it the "leg breaking bug" - and its not related to zombies because no zombie will go invisible then break your legs with a well aimed strike and then leave you alone.Sound are bugged and quite often you won't hear the sound of someone shooting (they will hear themselves though) so you might have the impression you just randomly took damage or died. You did not - you were sniped but the sound just did not play. Thats actually pretty gamebreaking as it makes it really hard to fight back or even realize someone in the area is shooting.

Report those servers - they are probably for hoarding. Found a unlocked one as well.

Other friend of mine: Lets Kill! Shit I Died! Because we hope one day the so called "permadeath" will be implemented and makes dying actually worse than losing your gear or falling unconscious. -
Please wait... (while someone puts a machete in your face)
Evil Minion replied to sachad's topic in General Discussion
The "Please Wait" phase usually ends if you wait long enough (and/or press ESC - not sure about this). However thats basically the reason why there should be a "Ready" button when logging in or respawning that appears after both you and the server are ready. By clicking you should spawn instantly and by not clicking you won't spawn (maybe with a server option "kick after X minutes of not ready"). -
You mean "sucks not having persistence enable in game yet". Because Third Person is just the beginner mode.
-
Nice video but I would have liked to see some real medic clothes and more emphasis on helping people in person rather than giving them supplies. Still good job of doing this even though you had a bad start. I also like the added effort on editing compared to the HOBO video. Though my favorite moment was when that prick in Svet got killed right after he drew his weapon on you. :D
-
Try without "official" - there are plenty First Person servers and I believe I also found some labeled "persistence enabled". I think this should be standard with "perstience disabled" being the special case rather than having persistence disabled by default.

Tents not spawning in stable (hardcorde/ "first person"-mode)
Evil Minion replied to timedance's topic in General Discussion
Given they are persistent over server restarts they should very, very rare. Otherwise you would see the map drowning in tent cities pretty soon. -
You did not meet any zombies because I decided to relax and do something really easy. So I went to kill them all with my axe. Where are you? The big city in the north with this huge tower (Novodmitrovsk)? Because there are no zombies in this city right now.

Walking through the forest looking around seeing nothing. Making camp looking around seeing nothing. Lighting fire when suddenly - SMASH freshspawn hits my head takes my stuff and kills me. No thanks. It dumbs down gameplay to a classical appear everywhere deathmatch. At the very least every spawn should take into account player proximity and distance to both high value loot spawns and (in case of respawn) the place you died before. Also dedicated spawn areas make for more interesting because less generic gameplay. Berezino is intrinsically different from Zelenogorsk because of this - which is a good thing. It also puts more emphasis on "moving from A to B" instead of "spawing near A, playing at A, spawning near B, playing at B" putting some weight on paths rather than destinations.

Friend of mine: May I Shoot This Guy? I blame people for caring more about the content of a phrase instead of nitpicking every little formality error. I also blame politicans for making people think "words" is uncountable. -
Pretty much this - with emphasis on "sometimes" and not limited to balance. In fact only if realism would seriously hurt the enjoyment (e.g. needing to sleep ingame) or in case of those "free choices" I mentioned above. Fortunately DayZ doesn't give free choices very often (thats why weapons should be implemented realistically instead of pvp-balanced for example) but in case it does like: sawning off the shotgun or Mosincrafting a backpack from leatherthere should be a reason to choose a particular option instead of having one "master choice" that beats them all and should be picked every single time. Other than this its more like playing cards - if you stumble across a helicopter spawn you might get dealt a M4 and if you get lucky in a military base you might get dealt a AKM. But life could also give you an Orange instead. Thats perfectly fine and here I would like to have advantages and disadvantages according to their real life counterparts. Thats what makes the game enjoyable after all.

I did not use a .380 weapon yet but I think it should be between 9mm and .22LR in terms of power and recoil.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Evil Minion replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I got attacked by so many zombies and never had this. Its probably not linked to zombie strength but simply a bug - actually it sounds like you got the leg breaking bug that has nothing to to with zombies in the first place. All the other bugs mentioned... are bugs and do not change the fact the zombies are weak. We cannot even be sure if those are linked to zombie attributes and I doubt they are. Its like saying the M4 is OP because a lagger killed you while using it and teleporting all over the place.
