    Feed balancing

I like the excess energy storage as you can virtually put on weight in case you have to go without food for quite a while. However I would like to see some feedback when you approach the maximum capacity as here your feeding behavior should change. Maybe if excess enegergy would slowly make you fatter going back to normal when below the maximum for a longer period of time? Or they could add a "Appetite" state that appears if you are below a relatively high energy and a certain stomach level. Anyways I usually eat my fill until fully energized and keep eating what I can find for a while but then stop consuming much food only eating something from time to time. There is no need to bring a lot of food and consume it as soon as you are not stuffed anymore. You can also take longe breaks between meals - however food is very common in the current build so there is not much reason to carry it around. One is staying independent - having a bag of rice with you can save you from depending on looting towns, certain tools and finding game, which might come handy in a dangerous neighborhood. Another is giving it to others allowing them a better start or just carrying the food until you enter a safer spot.
  2. I think the hunger/thirst system is a good example of how it should work: If you are new to the game you will intuitively fight hunger by eating and thirst by drinking while avoiding things like rotten food or chemicals. This keeps you alive and is fine for the start. After having some experience or help you figure out that by not only fighting hunger and thirst but receiving an engergized/hydrated status you will gain passive regneration which improves your chance of survival. However this effect is a reward - if you just don't care you won't get it.This helps people getting the "oh thats how it works" moment which fels much better than just getting everything for free.
  3. I think thats the best way to put it. The game should not require offgame studying but ingame experimentation at least for the core mechanics. So you can pick up the game, start exploring and figure out the basics by yourself as they are intuitive and realistic (nobody has to tell you that you can chop wood with an axe or that water will make you wet). More complex and involved mechanics (how do I get this heli to work) should require some time or help to figure out

    They nerfed characters.

Which is the right priority because even when vehicles are introduced most people won't have one most of the time. In the end this might even help gameplay because its not viable to take a sprint to the next military base right after spawning. So this might cause more population in the middle part of the map as "passing through" won't be "sprinting past" anymore. However, I hope they also changed loot rarity. Otherwise you would find everything you need in your first town with not much to do during the rest of your journey. As from the OP it seems a little bit exaggerated but after all its experimental - feel free to report the issue in detail. If you don't like it at all you can always play on stable. There are good chances they will release a more advanced version of the temperature model. Did you try to take a bath then light a fire? Otherwise its probably better to play at nighttime to avoid overheating. Oh wait, most servers are daylight only! Well, about time to change it.

    Do you ever feel sorry?

I killed a friend who got stuck and I felt sorry for him. My first two kills made me think something like "what a waste". Both were relatively recently spawned pricks who wanted to beat me down.

Any option to not lose everything every few minutes?

Not losing everything when dying is hardly a better ruleset. Unless you are one of the players who want instant gratification but then its the wrong game for you. The game is not about having things but about getting things and using things (with 'things' including other players).

    How could he.....

Did he use a cheat? Because otherwise it was a fair PvP gunfight - actually the situation was even in your favor. Don't blame him for not being stupid and trying to take on the three of you while standing in the open. Blame yourselves for letting your guard down. If you want to gun down everyone you meet now - be my guest. But don't think yourself better than him then.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

Less cheaters are less cheaters which is a good thing. And buying cheats just nets you a few hours of less enjoyable gameplay and gets you banned later. Good job wasting your money. The only ones who win are the real hackers who sell their temporary goodies to stupid kids. In a sense its just like drug trade. Cheats can be fixed at any time and cheaters can be banned at any time and everytime that happens the game gets a little bit better.

    Larger Map

For 40 players the map seems big enough though thats hard to say as most game dynamics are not final. With rarer loot, loot respawn management, lower walk speed, vehicles, fixed server hopping etc. we might see more action all over the map. A bigger map would also require more resources and more players. So I agree with the others who said "quality over quantity" - for now.

    More involved item repair

So right now repair works the following: have a damaged repairable item (not ruined)find a matching repair kit (sewing, weapon cleaning etc.)use it for instant repair until repair kit degradesI propose a slightly more involved version where you not only need a repair kit but also (in some cases) repair materials. The material in question would depend on the item in question. For this items should be grouped - each group shares repair materials and can also use other elemnets from the same group as such. So a T-shirt could be repaired by using either Rags or another T-shirt as repair material (no in this case it would make sense to produce some rags when repairing to avoid it being a trap). In return items should be a little more resistant to degradion but should degrade to worn state simply by being worn. Repair kits should degrade much slower as they no longer provide the material (if they do - for example weapons cleaning kits - they degrade faster). Example groups for clothes: {T-shirt, Shirt, Hoodie, Tactical Shirt, Tracksuit Jacket, Tracksuit Pants} can use rags{Canvas Pants, Canvas Pants Short}{Burlap Sack, Burlap Wrap, Improvised Courier Bag, Improvised Backpack}{Cargo Pants, Hunter Pants, uniform pieces, Jeans}{Wool Coat}{Down Jacket}{Riders Jacket, Chest Holster, Leather backpacks} can use hide but might require a knife as wellThis way more common low quality items would have the advantage of having plenty or repair materials around and the high tier items everyone is looking for might end up more difficult to repair which would add another layer of depth into the "gear up and stay geared" mechanism. Of course other than not providing any protection ruined clothes and containers should also lose their ability to store items. This would give you a legit reason to sport Tracksuit Pants for a short period of time.

One weird trick to avoid upcoming character wipe

Duping is cheating! Sorry, but the argument that hackers have it easier is just like the argument that allowing every idiot to carry a gun makes the world a safer place... You won't combat an issue by escalating it and if you allow fighting hacks with hacks more people will start using them just to keep up and because everyone is doing it. So fixing a hack is always good even if it means the other hackers will get a temporary advantage - they are next. And even without there are simply fewer hackers around making the game more enjoyable for others.
  12. Evil Minion

    Idiot.

No he didn't. Seriously... Maybe he thought they would feed him rotten fruit is disinfectant and chose a quick death instead. But even then raising your axe and attacking those guys aiming at you without even saying a word is hardly a smart move. For starters: He got two legs that can be used to run away.
  13. Evil Minion

Is it to easy to gear up?

Problem is that if people have an easy time finding valuable gear the other items end up being tested less. Right now almost nobody sports an CR527. Why? Because AKM, SKS and Mosin are both more common and more powerful while the former two also compete for the same ammo.

    How to stop server hopping.

Not if your character already disappeared - then there should be a simple login timer. Otherwise we will get phase shifting combat loggers. People want this but its overkill. You can combat server hopping by attaching a cost to it so it will become less attractive. The cost should not affect people who got kicked, barely affect people who only switch once or twice and highly affect players who are switching multiple times in a short duration. Sure you could still hop between servers but as you have to pay the cost everytime you do it it ceases to be an easy, fast and cheap way to get your gear.

    Whats your player type?

I am surprised nobody brough this up before (okay one did mit in a very limited fashion). There is a test about gamer psychology called Bartle Test that divides gaming preferences into four categories of "fun". Now DayZ is actually a pretty good game to experience all four of them and it would be pretty interesting to see how the community sees the game (click on "Test"). The categories are: DIAMONDS (Achievers) like to achieve as much as possible within the games context. In DayZ this probably translates into accumulating high value gear and keeping it as long as possible. Possible traits*: Weapon: AKM or M4 with attachments (as badass as possible) Loved items: anything rare and of high value Hate: serverhopping and weak zombies (the former makes their main goal trivial and the latter reduces the games challenge) Wishes: more high value gear, more challenging PvE gameplay Chance of KoS: high (out of fear of losing their gear) SPADES (Explorers) like to explore the game and its mechanics. In DayZ this should be straightforward: exploring the map, items and their use as well as human interactions. Possible traits*: Weapon: SKS (common and versatile, can add a scope) Loved items: Binoculars, knifes and everything that can be used in one way or the other Hate: overabundant loot, items not usable when they should (e.g. duct tape) Wishes: more complex gameplay, more hidden and semi-random locations like the helicopter crash sites Chance of KoS: medium (might fear gear loss or just want to test that new weapon) HEARTS (Socializers) like to interact with others and roleplay. In DayZ this probably translates in finding friendlies, having fun with them and making new friends. Possible traits*: Weapon: Magnum (looks cool and is quite easy to get) Loved items: Clothes, road flares and everything you could use for roleplaying/doing something crazy Hate: KoS, KoS and KoS Wishes: more options for social interactions, more roleplay items Chance of KoS: low (KoS is the antithesis of socializing) CLUBS (Killers) like to impose themselves on others. In DayZ it might translate into banditry, killing others for enjoyment or even hunting down bandits as hero. Possible traits*: Weapon: Mosin (good for sniping and kills in few shots) Loved items: (para-)military gear and everything that helps in PvP encounters Hate: randomness in combat, combat logging and no/low punishment for getting killed Wishes: more weapons, more camouflage options, squad identification features Chance of KoS: very high (the thrill of the hunt) *My own impression/opinion. TL;DR: Click on "Test". Vote according to your results. Done. ;) And here the picture from page 3:

    Whats your player type?

It only makes it unlikely for you to be a diamond. Other than that it depends on what you are about to do with this stuff: Get more and better stuff and keep it as long as possible? -> Diamond Walk around the map, seeing new places, testing things? -> Spade Find other players and interact with them in a more or less friendly way? -> Heart Find other players and kill them/force them to do things because you can? -> Club

    Dayz Debacle

Yeah thats the deal. However its not "I paid and now they are working for me" but more like a donation that nets you early access and a free copy upon release.
  18. Evil Minion

    Dayz Debacle

Silly boy - you did not pay for the game. You donated for its development and got rewarded by being allowed to test the Alpha. As far as I can see development is ongoing and the game is improving. All I can read from the OP is "mimimi I paid and the game is still work in progress". Its not like everyone already bought the game and there is nobody left you could sell the final product. Not even speaking of your companies reputation here...

POLL: What if DayZ was made by a different company?

If DayZ was made by EA they would rush the game (current feature list with fixed issues and optimization) to be finished just before Christmas. Vehicles and specialist weapons would be paid DLC appearing in 2015. And in December 2015 "DayZ II - Survivor Tales in Chernarus" would be released, featuring a different set of weapons and better graphics. Last DayZ patch would be in January 2016 and introduce some major gameplay changes that would make the game much less enjoyable. Then DayZ II would get vehicles and specialist weapons as paid DLC. Just before Christmas 2016 they would release the Addon "DayZ II - Survivor Tales in Chernaus: Zombie Hunter" which will get paid DLC the following year as well.

    .22 weapon

Not in DayZ though as the weapon type does not affect damage (yet). But I actually believe the Sporter 22 does kill with a headshot from 100m (it does over shorter distances). And the Amphibia as well - if you were able to hit your targets head that is.
  21. Evil Minion

"I'm not going to shoot you"

Allright - in general if someone immediately starts talking about being friendly and not shooting you he is most likely not. True friendlies usually start a normal conversation beginning with "Hi!", "Hey!", "Hello!" or even ask you something. Also gun safety: If someone is aiming at you for no good reason he is either overly careless or wants to shoot you. Get rid of him.
  22. Evil Minion

    Change how you log out

Those 30 seconds are not a very long time and combat logging is still possible. I could see adding 30 more seconds the way you described - so you got 60 seconds in total and may stay aware for the first 30 seconds if you choose to do so. However, during the whole 60 seconds relogging should not come at a time penalty - instead you may just reclaim your character who is still there immediately.

    bug report 0.48

Thats not worse than a rifle floating behind your back - something most people consider an intended feature.

    Horse in game

Thats fanart. But it seems like they are considering adding them. After all they are planning vehicles, animals and advanced animal AI.
