This. Nothing wrong with being able to eat humans in game but it should come with enough downsides to rather search and hunt a deer or go fishing for a while. Maybe once infections are in...

Is this a clone of an old topic that got closed? The title sounds familiar... Also do not refer to the different modes as "hardcore" and "easycore" because thats just plain wrong. None is easier than the other it all depends on the situation. First person is more immersive while third person gives you increased awareness (basically a free periscope). Now the latter is by no means easier as other players also got increased awareness and might use it against you and because this awareness is not symmetric (which is why you might find more campers in third person - its simply stronger there). First person on the other side has mainly symmetric line of sight and thus plays more "natural" in PvP situations - which does not mean it is easier either, just different.

True. Good thing there is no clothing that in itself is worthless. A T-Shirt might offer less protection, less camouflage and less storage space than a Gorka Jacket but its lighter and you won't overheat nearly as fast in warm weather (look at all those people crying about the heat inside their Gorkas at moderatly warm temperatures - I want to see how they cope with real summer). And it would be much much easier to find. Jeans might be either lighter or more resistant than Cargo Pants while otherwise protecion could go either way. And og course jeans should be easier to find as well - even though it is not America. And why should the tracksuit jacket be a placeholder? Because its low tier? Might be useful once high tier items got much rarer. Also keep in mind that military gear is not "the best of the best for all purposes" but rather "the most practical for both combat and logistics". There might be some areas where this kind of gear is surpassed by some civilian items specifically made for the purpose.

Makarov - great for self defense (high dexterity), ammo and magazines are plentiful and its not too loud. Now in the OP's situation - definitely the AKM as it is better than the SKS is all but the following traits: gun rarity (non-factor as you already have both)the AKM needs a magazine to be effective (non-factor if you already have one)PU Scope is easier to find than the PSO1 Scopefully automatic fire might waste ammoTo make something clear: The AKM is more accurate then the SKS unless you strip it from all its attachments and put a PU SCope on the SKS. So the SKS is that nice girl from across the street - and the AKM is her hot little sister.

I would rather like to see color variants for the Colt Python: silver with brown grip, grey with black grip, black with reddish brown grip etc. For different barrel lengths I am actually more in favor of introducing completely different types like various S&W models or the Ruger Redhawk.

First of all civilian clothes should be much easier to find than military ones. Then there are also advanatges outside the military specifications: While military clothing should be camouflaged, though, provide good protection and storage space, civilian one might be much lighter, better suited in hot conditions (hot is not the mildly warm weather we got in 0.50 stable!), easier to repair or replace and also provide some special benefits outside of combat - benefits you cannot provide if specialized in combat use. So just give civilian clothes the advantages they would also have in real life: protective clothes might be bulky and restrict movement/stealth but offer the best protection against respective hazardsshort/tight clothes might offer low storage capacity and protection but are also very lightweight and prevent overheatingswimwear/suits would offer much better performance for swimming/divingclothing can be used to look classy and send a message to onlookerssome specialized clothes might have awesome features but generally lack toughnessbeing civilian they would be very common all around inhabited areas, especially in citiesWe should not have advanatges that make us think: "Why doesn't the military use this instead?" But rather advantages like: "I can see the benefits here but it would be impractical for soldiers."

DayZ Virtual Paper Doll - Community Clothing Suggestions (v1.30)
Evil Minion replied to Evil Minion's topic in Suggestions
Again. I will probably remove implemented items from the list entirely to make it a little shorter. -
Added some new things currently colored red.

the case of items that are in the game but dont spawn
Evil Minion replied to brumey's topic in General Discussion
Its nice to hear that items that are supposed to be very rare are indeed very rare. Thats most likely the case for items with a low spawn rate and few spawn points like the M4A1 or PM 73 RAK. I definitely found a Longhorn and according to reports/videos the only items not showing up are the shotgun slugs (did not show up since I started playing), the green bandages are probably not in and the craftable grenades - not even heard about this so maybe its just at the "planned" stage. People also reported to have found helicopter crashes even though they appear harder to find (for reasons unknown maybe just an illusion). There is nothing wrong with temperature though. Just use your brain - its a little cooler than 20°C so you shouldn't run around in clothing that is clearly intended to be worn at cold weather. I wonder how people will cope when really hot weather (>30°C) is implemented - probably overheat in their winter gear and then cry about it. -
That must be the most inept hacker ever using his hacks to get in the middle of a shootout and basically dying as a casualty.

Shotgun shells and .380 rounds seem to be everywhere - .357 Magnum and .22LR as well but not as common (zhough the latter usually comes in 50 round boxes). 5.56 and 7.62x39 rounds aren't that rare in military spawns (especially the prison buildings) but I only ever found two boxes of 5.45 rounds. Interestingly I also found tons of Mosin rounds in residential areas - maybe you people are looking at the wrong places.

possible back old aim shooting?, without aim shaking
Evil Minion replied to Askasli's topic in New Player Discussion
Try it. -
The Communitys Official Vehicle/Vehicle Idea Thread Version 1.5 (Now with constantly changing polls!)
Evil Minion replied to d.walker43's topic in Suggestions
Just keep bumping - most people will only look on the list without posting or voting. And some will not look at all but start a new topic suggesting a single new vehicle already found here with a single line post. As long as the list of already existing suggestions stays unchanged (and I don't think it will be updated any time soon) there is nothing else you can do. -
possible back old aim shooting?, without aim shaking
Evil Minion replied to Askasli's topic in New Player Discussion
Do it then - because the sway is both realistic and healthy for gameplay. However, there should be more factors affecting the amount: a heavier weapon should have more swayusing a bipd should drastically reduce your swaybuttstocks and handguards should both reduce sway (includes fixed ones)Would benefit realism, gameplay and the viablility of weapons and attachments. -
Designed to rival the firepower of the SVT-40 you mean. ;) At this time the Germans did not care too much about the Garand. And the SVT-40 also happens to be the one of the bunch fitting the game most.

The power of brass knuckles! Was Ryan hiding in the garage to your left?

What Do You Consider To Be "Exploiting" In This Game?
Evil Minion replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
You know its bad form to change the question when people already voted... -
Most likely not as the health/injury system does not seem to have changed. And the effect wasn't too common to begin with (at least for me). Though once I did get instantly killed by a zombie attacking my head when it should have knocked me out instead (in 0.50). What seems to be less common is the leg breaking bug though it still seems to happen from time to time.

I bet someone found a smersh vest - at least there are videos featuring the item. I found my rangefinder in the long barracks at Pavlovo military base. I also found one in filled cargo pants in the Zelenogorsk military base prison but those were bugged and did not allow any interaction.

In terms of quantity: Definitely! In terms of variety: Not at all! Though I think there are tons of weapons thats would fit the game much better than the StG 44. It is an outdated assault rifle - nothing you keep around for hunting, it would require a new ammo type to be added (that doesn't allow for many other types of gun), it only marginally fits the setting and its not really that special. If you want a German assault rifle go with the G36 and its variants.

If survivors are wearing a (ballistic?) helmet they are knocked out by a .22LR shot. If they do not wear any head protection they will die. Everything in betwen I am not sure about - maybe a cowboy hat is enough to survivethe shot maybe not.

Things that come to mind: higher weight (effect on stamina/fatigue and maybe movement speed)more sway (when not used prone with bipod)not able to be carried on the back via magic slotvery rareAlso things that might help a lotwhen adding specialized weapons: greatly reduced turn rate when proneweight and stamina systemvariable sway for different weaponsvariable damage/velocity for different weapons (taking into account barrel length)advanced ballistics (wind, weather, bullet penetration)advanced weapon attachment system (more diverse instead onedimensionally decreasing dispersion)advanced weapon degradadtion (barrel heat, maintenance)centralized loot economy (for advanced rarity)fixes for diverse exploits (duplication, server hopping)I think everything beyond an assault/battle rifle should fall into the "awesome but impractical" category for the average survivor and only be truly effective in special situations or inside an organized team. And even basic military equipment should come with some significant disadvantages in this area (like ammo and equipment being much harder to find and maybe increased maintenance demand).
