    Is respawning loot enabled (0.50)

You probably ended up on a persistent server with buggy spawns - the loot you are missing is most likely piled up elsewhere.

    AK74U question

Gamefiles say not its not possible - only buttstocks. DayZ Wiki also says this on the AKS74U page. The AK74 however can use it.

Dayz Beta and final release added cost?

There is added cost for the beta and the final release but as far as I know you are only affected if you haven't already bought the game or buy it again. The alpha copy you purchased should work just fine unless you get banned for cheating.

Medic here. Everyone is starving to death

Are we talking about 0.51 here? If yes: Get the fuck away from the coast (and Novo/Cernaya Polana). On your way keep picking berries and apples - should keep you alive. Look for a knife. You may also find a few food items in residential buildings. Look for a ranged weapon/farming equipment/fishing equipment. Go hunting/farming/fishing.In 0.50 - get away from the coast (and Novo/Cernaya Polana). Loot the next village - done.

    Diseases

"Air-borne" diseases: As the name says transmitted via air (or mosquitoes etc.). The initial infection might come from being in a certain area or having your immune system weakened too much (like running around in fully soaked clothes for a prolonged time). Then those infections might also spread to others that get into contact with the infected depending on their health status, equipment (some mask might reduce risk) and of course how long and close the contact is. Overall the infection risk should be relatively small requiring conditions to be fullfilled for a longer period of time or getting unlucky. Common cold might be a relatively weak example basically just weakening the body, draining a little bit of water and causing the character to sneeze or cough (not too often). There should be counter-measures to symptoms as well: like sacrificing a rag to clean your nose avoiding sneezing for some time. Different diseases might also be transmitted by: touchblood transfusioncannibalismswitching clothes

    Will there be bears?

You may work on your search skills. Try to also look for related words (like animal, predator etc.)

Got sick from eating burnt bore steak

You can but there is no reason to do so because you ate something bad. Just keep yourself engergized and hydrated (bright green at least for energized) or eat some Charcoal Tabs and you will survive. This does not work - its a myth (it only removes the status in the character screen but not the actual effects). All it does is emptying your stomach and draining energy and water. Depending on whether or not you can compensate for this loss it might be even dangerous to attempt this (as it might push you out of the regenerating states you need for surviving sickness/poisoning).

    Shooting Through Walls?

I believe not. Its rather a very early stage with many bullet-proof surfaces (including some windows). There are ricochets however and some world objects (like bushes) can be penetrated while altering the bullet path. A while back people tested various doors and walls which resulted in "bullet proof". V3S windows can be penetrated while V3S doors cannot (with a shotgun).
  9. Facial wear poll up - with another bonus question though. Three items are missing a picture (because I did not find a satisfying one) but should be clear anyways.
  10. Not sure about this but a modern M16 rifle is already on the list. I also think it makes much more sense to have the M16A2 or M16A4 over the M16 or M16A1. But I think it makes sense to include a M16 variant especially because of the rural setting of Chernarus that make the deployment of the full length rifle more likely.

    sawed off shotty vs 1911

No - thats how they should work and what the nerf did. Before shotguns fired a single pellet that was buffed up to 60 hit value (7.62x54mmR has 12). The nerf just corrected it back to 6 (.380 Auto has 5.5). But for some reason shotguns fail to deal the damage they should and its not because of the nerf. My guess is its related not to weapon values but the current ballistics system and desync: targets hitbox displacement (happens more often in close quarters)pellet penetration screwed (regular clothing works like body armor)ghost shots (animation and sound plays but there is no projectile nor ammo cost)zero damage shots (bullets hit the target not dealing any damage)The second point is just a guess related to the destruction of clothing without much damage to the wearer but the other three definitely happen - not only to the shotguns but here it seems much more common. Take a look at this - both players seem to get screwed up by some bugs.

Its probably not the best idea to run around a friend who is about to use an axe. Accidents do happen!

    Firearms Ranking

Does it? Honestly I did not find any usable data on recoil so I simply left it out. I cannot say whether the M4 or the AK101 has better recoil - though the AK101 should have eventually. Projectile velocity is another "should have" but nothing indicates its the case right now. It seems to depend solely on the round used. I actually thought its the same with recoil but it seems indeed depend on the weapon. PSO-1 scope is better than the ACOG and the ranking does reflect that. But otherwise the M4s stats are (slightly) superior. Comparing weapons in-hand is flawed as you will collect wrong impressions and placebos that may result in myths that are simply not true. You are basically doing statistics on very little data instead of just using the exact values. That being said its unavoidable in some cases (Noise, Recoil, Optics, Rarity etc.) but I would rather use hard facts wherever possible. What I am planning to do: abandon the five star system in favor of a more accurate scalere-weight the categories (1.5 : 1 : 1 : 1.5 : 2 : 2 looks promising)include Shortbow, Crossbow and AUGcollect further data on categories

    Playing styles

I think playstyles are multidimensional and consists of several aspects (that may or may not depend on each other): Motivation: What the player is looking for and wants to experience ingame. I made a topic (with poll) about this some time ago. Its not a clear cut thing but rather a combination of several preferences: Achieving ingame goals: survival, PvE, finding specific items, ...Acting on others: PvP, killing, enforcing specific behavior, ...Exploring the game: visiting places, trying new things, analyzing the game ...Interacting with others: socializing, roleplay, making friends, ...Social vs. Solitary: Do you rather want to be left alone or meet others? Some people want to be part of a community while other people enjoy the freedom of doing what they want without a group slowing them down: Loners do not need a partner. They may or may not enjoy social interaction from time to time but dislike to join a group or keep others around.Independents do not like the strings attached to group play but may temporary join forces with others if its in their interest.Group Players like to stick together with people they know but are generally not too trusting towards outsiders.Socializers flock to other players even if those are complete strangers and tend to form bigger groups.Attitude: I could also call this "Leadership" but its not only about leading but your general attitude towards others. Leaders are the boss and make the calls. Others are expected to follow their orders.Advisers do not care who makes the calls as long as they are making the right ones.Soldiers usually do not bother with command and rather follow the advice of others focussing on bringing their own skills to the table.Free Spirits do what they want to do and do not want to get bothered with "babysitting" others.Aggression: The probability of a player being hostile towards others. Killers are almost always hostle because "lets face it: this game is about killing other survivors". They do not care if freshspawn or fully geared as they just want to kill.Predators kill others for their stuff. Gear status is most important and if you have nothing of value you might even get to live - if you are lucky and not a rival.Hunters go after high threat targets for the thrill. Sniping barely geared friendly players is beneath them unless they get too cocky.Survivalists have the motto "shoot first, ask questions later". They will attack if they perceive someone as a threat but not hunt them down.Travelers will fight if they feel actively threatened but avoid gunning down innocents if possible.Heroes will assume others to be friendly at first and try to reason with them while still staying cautious. If the response is hostile they will attack.Friendlies assume "friendly until proven otherwise" and will attempt to reason with people over fighting them.Pacifists won't attack most of the time and if reason/retreat is not an option they would rather avoid killing others.Mobility: How you move on the map. As not all of the areas provide the same amount/types of loot and player interactions there are implications on a players possibilities here. Residents usually stay in the area they spawned inMigrators move to a "better" area and stay therePatrols move between some specific areas probably for specific reasonsNomads just can't stay in one place and travel all around ChernarusImmersion: This is about the emotional connection the player developes to his/her character. The more immersion the more "natural" the behavior. "I don't care." - no emotional connection at all, might act very unresonable and even suicidal all the time"Just a game." - less connection to the character and more to the collected gear"What a waste." - grows more attached the more effort is put into the character, regardless of gear"Serious business" - strong connection, the characters live does matter and its death is a very bad thing"My alter ego" - fully immersed, the character is basically the players projection in Chernarusthis also affects a players behavior towards the characters of real life friends. A fully immersed player will treat the character as if it was his friend while a player who is not immersed at all might kill his fully geared friends character for fun. Investment: How much effort do you put into developing your character? Casuals just dip into the world of Chernarus and do not invest a lot of time and effortSpare Time Players play along investing time and effort into particular objectives as they likeGamers believe that you have to invest to get better and have more fun and usually focus their efforts on their particular playstylesHobbyists invest a lot of time and effort into various aspects of the gameNow in DayZ this has a massive impact on gameplay as more effort greatly improves your options and especially as no progress is permanent which means you will not "get there eventually". Okay thats not a list of playstyles - because I am simply too lazy to list all the possible combinations. Not all of them are equally possible, some correlate and some combinations do not make much sense (like "leave me alone" loners that also like to lead a group). I probably forgot some of the aspects but thats what I could think of.

    MP5K VS AKM

I will forward you to the actual ingame values and WOBOs guide to the PM73 RAK that was made after the dispersion changes. Now it seems the MP5-K buttstock is either not spawning or extremely rare but I would dump this in the "rarity" category instead of "accuracy". Also as much as I like WOBOs guides I have to say that the comparison in the AKS74U guide is a little inaccurate - he does compare the AKS74U and the PM73 RAK but disregards the MP5-K taking M4 optics which means more customization as well as (if you find a buttstock) more accuracy.
  16. I think running around in wet clothes too long should have a negative impact (more weight, might get sick etc.). But you should definitely be able to cool off using water bottles or canteen - though less when wearing a winter jacket at moderate temperatures (as in 0.50) and more when wearing a T-Shirt or less when its really hot outside or you are running a lot.

    Found some clan's "secret" camp.

Looking at your character window I would have stolen their food if I was you.
  18. Thats actually one of the reasons I like to play on experimental. In stable you join somewhere, loot the city closest to your spawn location and often find everything you need. So upon leaving the first (or second) town there follows a longer period of mindless running to one of the high value loot areas. Or you just stay at the coast. In experimental you actually have to look for food and supplies and make your way inland as the spawn areas will only feature few loot items. Stuff does respawn so they are not completely empty but as other people spawn again it will be picked up resulting in food shortage at some places (and you probably won't find many guns and the right ammo for them). So if you move inlands you have something to worry about and might travel quite some distance while still in "early game" (search for food, water, clothes, tools and very basic weapons). Now in this regard Novodmitrosvk behaves as a coastal city as there are spawnpoints around it. As the city itself is fairly big you might still find items there but the most well-known places are most likely already looted leaving you with scraps (includes a few items that respawned in the meantime). As all spawn cities its not worth visiting for supplies but its sheer size might still provide some gear. Here is a map of some of the spawns I found - in experimental make sure to move away from the red areas as its highly likely someone already looted those.

    Longterm scopes are missing?

It looks a little out of place and ugly. And there are plans to remove it and giving the CR527 a scope instead.
  20. Evil Minion

    Longterm scopes are missing?

Never seen a longterm scope (only the fixed one on the Longhorn) but Longrange scopes still spawn and still fit on the Mosin (kinda).

    MP5K VS AKM

Not at all. The only thing the AKS74U has going for it is its slightly higher damage and that its easier to find. Accuracy is the same unless you want to include attachments from other weapons then the MP5-K takes the cake by being able to mount M4 optics. Magazines seem equally rare (in fact I never found a AK74 mag but a few MP5 mags) and 9mm is more common than 5.45x39mm. Also the MP5-K fires significantly faster which helps compensating for the lower damage per round in while sacrificing stamina. So its by no means inferior to the AKS74U (still not worth the additional search time). Compared to the AKM its easier to handle but has much less range and punch as well as much less stamina. You will find 9mm rounds easier but magazines are harder to get. All in all the AKM is better in everything but close quarters, but the MP5-K also works as a secondary weapon were its one of the best choices - if you can find one. The only weapon that can rival the AKM in overall performance is an M4 though other weapons like Mosin or Blaze might outperform it in specific tasks as well.

    AKM VS AK74

AKM - in almost every way. The AK74 has faster projectile speed and less recoil but otherwise its clearly inferior.

    Firearms Ranking

Huh? "Under specific conditions X has no effect while Y is important and thats why you should not use X to increase the ranking. Also my personal playstyle features weapon A over weapon B and thats how they should be ranked." Dexterity determines the speed your weapon is following your mouse movement. Because of that its higher Dexterity => faster aiming. Doesn't have much impact when fighting a single target at a longer distance in front of you that can not use cover to move some distance without you having vision on it. Its not about being able to do something without but about it giving you an edge. Now I did figure Noise having a little too much impact in certain situations because I used the same formula as for Rarity, Range and Output (where it makes sense). However it does not really make sense for Inventory Size and Noise to scale each other so I changed it to the mean value instead. Now the question remains of how to weight the categories.

    Firearms Ranking

Thats not the premise. Nor is the premise "the best weapon for 200-400m engagements". Audible range is in because it draws attention to you be it zombies or other survivors. Even though the sound system is messed up you cannot rely on your weapon being silenced by a bug. Then Dexterity helps in every situation where you have to aim around not only close quarters combat (though it has most impact here) but also switching targets or responding to an attack for further away. Higher Dexterity means you can get your sights on target faster. Dispersion on the other side is only one of the factor that determine your weapons effective range. Its not worth that much without the right optics. For example the Derringer is more accurate than the SKS. Whats the effective range of those weapons? Back to the M4 this means your Magpul stock does not give you an actual advantage unless combined with an ACOG scope against a target more than 400 meters away. The CQB stock allows for quicker reactions which is especially important in close quarters and can also be combined with an ACOG scope for long range shots - just as effective at ranges up to 400 meters and still good enough beyond that. Sure Magpul parts have their uses but in comparison they are rather niche.

    Cant Loot Dead Bodies

Try harder then! In fact this might be another case of hitbox desync. Your body falls down but in a different fashion for server and client. Might have something to do with ragdoll being clientside.
