I don't really care when they get added, in my mind unless they add a military vehicle or a technical of some kind with a means to defend itself while driving around then the risk is to great to warrant using a vehicle. In my mind driving around will just make you a target for players who want to steal your vehicle

Interesting, I didn't know there where grenade launchers in monopoly. I never said anything about not playing anymore and actually I avoid straight up pvp, survivor man wanna be. If you wanna stay inland and farm and hunt good for you, but thats boring. I scavenge, and to do that you need more than a fire axe, because there's zombies and people who want to kill you in cities and towns. But you probably don't know much about that. If my opinion is "crying" to you that's fine with me, but the fact remains that military/police/riot loot wouldn't just disappear if there was a zombie outbreak, especially in what was once a military state like chernarus.

I don't agree with them limiting military weapons and equipment. There isn't any SWAT type or riot gear type equivalent to that gear and that kind of stuff just isn't going to just poof out of existence once the zombie outbreak happens. Them "destroying" the barracks is a lame idea, at least at this point when there are no alternatives. Now I know there's some survivalist purists who are against having military equipment and guns with ammunition available, but that isn't my play style, I don't want to play "survivorman". I think there are parts of Chernarus that should be relatively abundant with weapons/ammunition, fighting my way across the map with a splitting axe doesnt seem like a good time, and I for one like being able to shoot the zombies who are chasing me from one city to another. Not having guns is going to be boring, not having ammunition is going to be boring and having mostly mosins and SKS's is going to get boring. Weapon variety is fun, and limiting something just because its "military" is stupid.

Well I didn't see that coming in that video. I don't really care about it's ballistic protection, I wear the helmet/face plate for cool points and nothing else.

It's just my experience, I've been chatted up by lone people with guns and then killed mid conversation to ever trust a lone gunman again. On the other hand though the groups of 2+ people with guns I've run into have been very friendly, even going as far as to give me some very basic kit

Me and my friend play as Neutral Scavenger players. The hunting aspect/living of the land aspect of the game is really rather boring to us, so we scavenge the cities for food/useful items that we can give to fresh-spawns/basic survivors (melee weapon wielding) as we move down the coast or inland. People who are roaming around alone with guns we kill on sight because they can't be trusted. People who are armed with guns and in small groups we'll attempt to make contact with and figure out if they're friendly or now. We KoS people who are in airfields or military barracks/buildings. The one time we attempted to make contact with some armed people in the old Balota military base we had a 10 minute gun battle and had to chase the last guy down, and as it turned out it was all a misunderstanding because a random guy attacked both our group and the other guys group.

A look at one of the new zombie models
JokersWarPig replied to haknslash's topic in General Discussion
That's actually a pretty nice/fairly creepy model. We need more variety in the zombie department, I know it isn't priority right now though. I'd like to see more variety among the zombies based on where you are on the map. Like a few riot police/police zombies in the cities mixed with plenty of varied civilian zombies. Different types of soldier zombies (I'm talking uniform/vest damage, but we basically have all we need) This new model strikes me as a zombie you would find in more rural areas or even out in the wilderness as opposed to roaming around Cherno or Berezino. I'd like to run into a few zombies that look like this just out in the woods between cities. -
If they don't speak your language kill them. If they have a fire arm kill them. If they attempt to get within three feet of your player character kill them. If they sound legitimately scared or they ask you for food/water/supplies you can probably trust them, but that's 50/50 If they ask for a gun/ammunition do not give it to them. If you do end up having them join you then you should keep them in your field of view at all times
-
So wait, the Mi8/Hind's are random crash sites now as well? So both Black Hawks and Hinds spawn randomly and spawn random bits of specific loot?
-
Because most people have been killed by someone who claimed to be friendly one to many times and now don't risk it

New military base west of Myshkino
JokersWarPig replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
Not much seems to spawn there the two times I've been there since the .49 release. I found an SKS, a few varied boxes of ammo, but mostly food and water. I don't think it's a refugee camp, its not near anything that would give refugees a means of escape like the shore line or the Balota airstrip. The fact its in the "middle of no where" leads me to believe its definitely military, and an in game explanation of this could be that it was set up as an operations base by the troops stationed in Zelenegorsk. A place for reinforcements/resupplies to be brought it, although I think a helicopter pad or two would need to be there for this to be legitimate. they could even throw a destroyed hind on the pad that spawns some stuff every now and again. -
Balota Military Camp Moving to New Location! [SenChi Tweet]

Me and my friend found the new military base while looking for helicopter crash sites -
I've thought this since I played Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 1942. A good chunk of snipers are people who aren't very good at the game they're playing, or don't like taking any risk and are in it for strictly killing and not being a team player (in the BF sense). There's a small chunk that are good at it and use it effectively while not camping and doing things like providing over watch and doing recon, but those players are few and far between. In Day Z I only run into snipers who are camping airfields or are camping along the shore to kill fresh spawns. All that being said there are instances where sniping or having a sniper is useful, but I haven't run into anyone using sniper rifles in Day Z for anything other than camping.

I was trying to find the NWAF when a group of guys on the server saw me and started pursuing me. I ended up losing them by going through some woods, and I thought I was still going in the direction of the NWAF but I ended up finding a very small castle slightly up hill from two destroyed buildings. Does anyone know where I am? Or what castle it is so I can orient myself back in the direction of the NWAF next time I play?

I've got 3 AK101 magazines on regular that I'm looking to trade for AKM magazines. All 3 have full ammo, and I'd trade the three for 2 thirty round mags or 1 drum mag. I'll negotiate the terms of the trade with whoever is interested, other wise I'm gonna toss them soon
-
I've yet to find one so far. I've found two mags while looting/searching the balota airstrip and military base though.

Once you get geared up its time to stop being socially awkward and start finding people to be social with. More often then not though this will result in you having to get re-geared. It's a vicious circle.

Signs to tell if someone is hostile
JokersWarPig replied to natelawrence's topic in New Player Discussion
I keep my gun pointed at people all the time when I run into them, it's the only way to be sure they won't try anything without having to kill them outright. -
Well on real life plate carriers you can customize what kind of pouches, where they're place and how many of a specific pouch you want on it. There's different types of magazine pouches (single stack/double stack) grenade pouches, medical pouches. There's entirely too many to list. I think it'd be cool if you could find the "naked" (no pouches) version and a version with very basic pouches (single stack magazine pouch and a medical pouch for example). Other pouches could be found and added to the vest increasing the amount of items you can carry on it, but it should be able to have at least the same amount of room as the assault vest but not more room than the high capacity vest. Bullet protection wise it should protect from everything up to the 7.62 round the AKM fires at the least, but you should be "stunned" once you're hit, preferably you'd get knocked down/forced into prone but you wouldn't be bleeding/instantly unconscious/dead from getting hit in the chest. After two, maybe three rounds though you should definitely be bleeding/knocked out or dead.
-
I like the change myself. It's a ot more interesting now, but it feels very barren. It needs some aircraft wrecks and more zombies. I noticed the only zombies there currently are soldier zombies and there are some APC/military truck wrecks. That makes me feel like there should be some military loot there, but it should be very scarce.

If you die in DayZ, you deserved it
JokersWarPig replied to TheMachine's topic in General Discussion
I was searching the balota military base when the server I was in lagged out. I was in the middle of a tent. I joined another server and the game took its sweet time to load my screen but my character was already spawned in. He was being beaten by zombies while I couldn't do anything. I don't think I deserved that. -
How will you play, Hardcore or Standard
JokersWarPig replied to WashedUpPoet's topic in General Discussion
I play both. I alternate between the two when one of my characters dies. -
Stand alone just needs more zombies to fill the larger cities streets and random hordes roaming the map. I believe that'll solve most of the PVP in (insert city here). Players just need a common enemy, then KoS probably wont be so instantaneous.
-
I was there last night. Found an SKS and a Sporter. I like it a lot, my only gripe is with the amount of military zombies and military vehicle hulls that are there you'd think there would be a bit more military loot like uniforms, some bits of equipment and maybe some ammo/the odd chance of finding a gun. Overall though I liked the new look and new buildings.
