Do you like to play realistically? If so, then you should never approach other players. In real life that would lead to death. If you are just playing to play then there is no specific way to do it. Just make sure you have the advantage and expect to die.

What about... Loner: You move to the woods and avoid human/zombie contact at all costs. That's my play-style.

I pretty much do this every time I play. I spawn, get geared up, and head to the woods and live my DayZ life. The only water I drink is collected rain water that fills my canteens. The only food I eat is whatever I can hunt or pick from a tree/bush. My main weapon is my axe. I never shoot zombies or people (unless the situation becomes dire) so my ammo is almost strictly for hunting. The challenge is fun. I like when my canteens get low on water and I think to myself, "Man, I really hope it rains soon so I have something to drink." Or when I am hungry and I'm thinking, "I seriously need to come across some kind of wild animal soon or I am going to starve." Looking for cans of soda and canned food is way too easy. I feel like playing any other way is just unacceptable.

I stare at the map on iZurvive and see whats around me.

I noticed this last night. I was heading to Green Mountain and everything looked like a glowing white color. Struck me as kind of odd. My settings are all maxed out.

Since the latest stable update I have yet to come across a magazine. I've been running around with a magazine-less AKM for days. And I've made more than several trips to military bases/camps.

I'm fully geared. Boots, pants, jacket, gloves, full pack, etc.

I don't understand why the characters get so cold all the time. It's constantly saying that I'm cold and shaking. Pretty annoying.

Does anyone have an answer? The canned fruit thing wasn't an exaggeration. I just logged in again and found nothing but canned fruit/sardines.

So, I often sit on the hill to the west of NEAF and watch the ATC tower from a far distance with binoculars. Sometimes its fun to watch others interact/die, othertimes just feels like recon. Either way, I'll often stand in the same spot for 10 minutes just watching. Yesterday I was doing that very thing. Standing there with binoculars watching from far away, no movement, nothing. I notice my binoculars start going out of focus and then suddenly a zombie pops up and smacks the crap out of me. Needless to say I was startled. So my question is, how far could he have seen me from? He would have to had noticed me from 1000+ meters away and ran across the entire airfield and then up that huge hill. Or... I ran across them today and noticed a lot of collision geometry and flipped normals. Why would they put the buildings in like this?

Yeah, that makes sense for sure. The weird thing though is that the building placements were off. For instance, the garage-type building next to the ATC was halfway inside the ATC.

I server hopped for 30 minutes just to see if my character would reset. Had about 5 different characters.

I almost only play at night.

Let's be honest, you can go from fresh spawn to Rambo in an hour or less. After becoming fully geared it can be boring to just run around the map for hours looking for different loot. Personally, I often log into servers and just recon certain areas with binoculars from a long distance to change things up. There's something about watching people from far away, knowing that if you wanted to you could get the jump on them. But, instead you sit back and let them do their thing, graciously allowing them to live another day without them even knowing it. What types of things do you guys do after acquiring all of your gear?

Is there any rhyme or reason to the weather patterns in DayZ? The last 8 servers I played on all had pouring rain. I'm just curious if its a random thing or not.

I'd have to say that in the last 30 or so crashes I've come across I haven't found one.

You've been lucky. I'm currently posted up at Balota. I often log in and just recon the airfield and its surroundings from a distance with my binoculars and rifle scope. In the last 10-15 times I've done that I've seen a crashed heli there only once.
