I think its NPC :P Anyway, no there is no plan to put NPCs in the game. DayZ is about players, and player interactions. Tents are to come in the future, and large bases(prolly underground) etc are to be added much much later down the line. Edit: Oh god 666 posts... :o

Anti- DC while in combat and Anti- Server hopping measures have not been implemented yet. Atm there are more important issues to be sorted. Also you wil only be able to have one character at a time persistent to all servers, till private hives are allowed, much later (IMO never would be good). Also Welcome ;) -

They are both alpha guys (NoCheats and SonicRainbrony) ^ :P α (read: alpha) is the first letter of the greek alphabet. Therefore at the beggining. Dont get stuck on trivial matters. -

You can't do it in SA. Hopefully. I hope they add a feature that you can add marks of your own, on your map, that stay persistent to that map. Like writing on paper now. But like MS Paint!

Sometimes its far more entertaining to have a tense conversation with a random someone for a few minutes, than a 10 second gunfight. Its worth the risk of getting killed. Well said SalamanderAnder ;)

The thing with item respawns is that I think it will cause loot to be too much. If item respawn is to be put in, spawn rates must be lowered. Stuff must also respawn only when there is no one for many miles around. Edit: Please guy above respect the right to christmas holidays. Even game devs have a right to that you know. We wait a few more days for a patch, so what.

People arguing to keep 3rd person in SA, I think should try a few long sessions of 1st person only ACE+ACRE Domination/Insergents. I was skeptical at first about removing 3rd person, but after experiencing the intensity of being pinned down with a squad behind a wrecked tank (by AI mind you) I changed my mind. I think that most people think 3rd person should be kept because they have not tried to experience anything in 1st person only. Its one thing to try it for a bit on a server that allows both perspectives, where you quickly resort to third because its easier and everyone else is doing it, and a completely different thing to have it enforced. As said earlier: try first person only DayZ or ArmA2. It offers a far better experience, even with its slight limitations. You will get used to it. I did.

It is X-mas week, you cant expect stuff to be done for now. For the forseeable future they will be closing doors for hacking, its not a one off thing. Hacking will always exist. The thing is, to keep it from going rampant. Something they are trying their best at.

Very nice poast. Completely agree! IMO the first step to iron out PvP so to speak, is to balance the "hotspots" on the map. As Steaky said, with all the goodies planned for the north of the map, I am optimistic.

Theres a bug whereby you cannot chamber individual rounds. You need a mag.

No. Sorry has been discussed. BUT Skills. rocket has the idea of skills in his head. Not in a gamey fashion at all, with green bars and *ding* sounds. Just that yocould be able to perform actions better/faster if you have done them quite a few times. This will make the player value his characters life instead of just his stuff. Here you go, this streamer talks of the idea.

Or you have to put them in your hands in order to open them. That'd be better methinks, instead of magically opening a zipped up box inside your backpack. -

The Standalone will only allow you one character, since there are only Public Hive Servers. Many characters will be possible with the coming of private hives. Which tbh I hope never happens. -
Make Zombies the No1 threat. Make them a fast, agile, jumping, biting, scratching, headshot-to-be-killed horde that keeps on coming, no matter what. That is my dream. Edit: After they are fixed ofc :P

The option to restrain, rob someone without kiling them is there at least. In the mod it was not. Simply the option and the ease of it is better than in the mod, where killing was the best and quickest option to get stuff. Here it is not. I guess people kill you after restraining you etc, is because they think they have already pulled something difficult off, start wallowing in their success and take the easy way out, by killing you. Also what Mojo said. It helps to keep calm, and not give away the fact that you are not to be trusted. Edit: In the future, features like anti-combat logging/server hopping mechanics and character development (i.e skills) that will make you value your life more than your loot, will make you think twice before opening up on 4 heavily armed bandits, who intend to rob you. -
They are coming not yet.

This system was implemented just for that reason. To lessen the reward the victor gets from PvP and KoS. I agree it needs to be toned down slightly, but as a feature I think its great. As for your suggestion I guess that will be implemented later down the line of alpha.
