Why is the Dayz community so bad?

I didn't tell the guy I was going to help him,I was attempting to, so he had no idea of my intentions. He hopped into a game where everyone had expectations of being friendly with other people, or at least not hostile and KOS, and started killing people just to do it. That was the issue. And it's not about hackers, it's about a certain type of people, of which hackers are an example, who probably out of boredom more than anything get in game and just try to aggravate other people. It's not "I got killed in dayz, where the average life is minutes long, and I'm mad about it". Like I said, I have a very clear idea of what the game is and about, from playing quite a lot of it in part. There's been plenty of talk about doing in things in game to discourage KOS when you read through interviews and blogs and all. So you might wanna actually do some investigation on the subject yourself. And to the other person, yeah, I got hostile quick. It's not hard to see the hostility and context of that first response and I have no problem replying in kind. I'd love to be friendly with people in the forums and in game. But I'm not going to cower when someone replies with hostility while not addressing the spirit of the post. If anything it was simply not a well thought out title by me. But again I've been playing since it was the mod and saw the influx of younger gamers for the most part come in and shift the game experience fro something that was tense but could have some interesting outcomes to something that was predominantly a pvp, shoot on sight kind of thing.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

Mithrawndo,I understand what you mean about the servers but I didn't take it as a guarantee of safety. I still avoided most contact and interaction because there's obviously that chance. The settings weren't changed so the most it could really be is a suggestion or encouraged behavior. My only disappointment was that there were bound to people that joined simply to exploit the intentions everyone else joined that server with. It's more just the proverbial straw than anything. It's unfortunately becoming a constant in online gaming that you'll come across people who simply seek to taint other people's experience for their own amusement or whatever need they have. I enjoy hoping on something like battlefield and wiping someone out just like anyone else but I wouldn't do that to someone on my own team to aggravate them just for kicks. I think it's a symptom of people not wanting any kind of accountability or responsibility. It's a "I can do whatever here to anyone one and it doesn't matter to me". That still effects other people and it does matter even if it's to a very small extent.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

No, I'm definitely not apologizing. I've spent plenty of time on the game and I'm quite aware of the concept of the game, it's the reason I bought it. If I wanted a straight exploration game I would've got one. If I wanted a straight shooter, I would be got one. I got this for the unpredictability. And when it was just a mod I played the hell out of it, for quite a while. So I'm quite familiar with the game and concept. It's people like hackers and glitchers and people who intentionally do things to ruin other people experience that I take issue with. Apparently people who are "reading" the post aren't really READING it.

You dissected it while completely ignoring the entire premise of the argument while making the context of what you were saying very clear. I responded accordingly. Your point by point responses completely disregarded what was intended by the post in the first place.

And Bororm, you killing me in the game doesn't make you a killer. You killing me in game to get something makes you an opportunist. You killing me because you think I might kill you makes you reactionary. You killing me in a server where the admin asks that people don't so they can explore other aspects of the game for a bit and you do it anyways because you think it's funny to mess up those players games, makes you an asshole. It has nothing to do with the in game world. If I go and slap a basket ball out of your hand whole your on a court messing around because I think it's funny to act like that, I'm an asshole. There's absolutely no difference. I sat down for a few minutes after I got settled in, hopped on a very particular server to try and get a particular experience from the game and someone intentionally disrupted that simply to get that aggravation from me and whoever else he did it to. That completely makes that person an asshole. Just like someone who glitches or hacks and goes after people is an asshole. If you got killed by a hacker it wouldn't be enjoyable. It's the exact same thing. It's not a hard concept. If you intend to be an asshole to someone, you're an asshole.

No, I responded by showing you that you weren't intelligent enough to actually make a point based on the details of the original message. And instead of being able to comprehend it and having a rational response and being able to state it eloquently, you chose to act like an asshole. So not only did you highlight the fact that you're an idiot, you also showcased your personality flaws. So yes, you're a moron.

And I responded based on his response, there were plenty of people who didn't agree with my view and I have absolutely no problem with that. The game isn't to me what it is to them and they take different enjoyments and frustrations from it I'm sure. He conducted him self like an ass and I simply called him out on it. And I've certainly been an asshole back to him and I've got no problem saying it.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

That's still a completely contradicting argument. You choosing to be an asshole for whatever reason, makes you an asshole. If I choose to go out and kill someone, I'm a killer. If I choose to go out and help little old ladies across the street, I'm a good guy. You can't choose to be something, do the action and then not be that. There's hackers that go in the mod still and glitch around and ruin people's games for fun. Obviously they can't do that in real life, does that mean they're not being an ass? Of course they are, they're intentionally doing it. The motive and the ends are the same, just the means are different.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

And I don't mean that to come off as confrontational or mean spirited. My context might come across that way after arguing with Nex. The point just was if you know people are playing a game and you're intentionally set on disrupting that and ruining that for them simply because you enjoy it and it amuses you, that's completely a reflection of you as a human being. If you run up on me and shoot me in the back because you see a gun I have and you need it, completely in the context of the game and it sucks for me but that's what I signed up for. If you do it because you think it's gonna make me aggravated or you're not supposed to, you're an asshole. Intention is everything.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

No, that's a bullshit argument. Obviously games are a bit of an escape and they're all about letting you do things you normally can't. None of us are racing exotic cars or killing zombies or are soldiers running around pistoling and quick scoping people. And none of us are running around killing people on in the world. But how you choose to interact with people is a part of your personality. Maybe you take shit all day and you like to get on something like that and mess with people and blow off steam, doesn't make you a criminal but it does have something to do with your personality and it is a reflection on you. Nothing any of us ever do, ever, in any context, is not a reflection on who we are as a person. We do the things we do because of the person we are. Not saying being an asshole is the worst thing on the planet but there's not get out of jail free card on it.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

Oh I don't think I'm gonna hop on the game and be laughing and messing around like some other games haha. It's a tense game that has those tense moments built in and that's why it's enjoyable and somewhat addicting. It's not like a lot of other games, more variety and possibilities. The issue was just that someone made a server and just asked that it be somewhere that people could explore the world and see what was there and get a feel for it and that people still can't do something as small as respect that for a little while. It's disheartening. If there were only a few servers and it were an official one, yeah, no right to ask that. But there's plenty of other options, decency should let you just find one of those if the regular experience is what you're looking for. It was really nice to have one for a bit where you could really just kinda see and work on the mechanics. I don't think that's a bad thing.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

I find it hilarious that people like you come on games and act tough and think it's so fun to mess with other people. It's such an obvious sign of how pathetic you are out in the world. "I'll shoot you just because and I think it's amusing". Good, you're an asshole and you enjoy it. Fine. Obviously you're not very intelligent since you couldn't raise an actual point in any of the responses you had on the original point since you weren't able to catch the details of it but I hope you're at least smart enough to realize no one thinks you're cool for coming on here and showing what an idiot you are or being an asshole in game. People like you are used to other not liking them, so you do shitty little things so you can control the reason they don't like you instead of it just simply being that you're kind of pathetic and unlikable in the first place. Whatever works I guess.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

Yeah Nex, that's a reply of an idiot that had his point discounted and doesn't have anything intelligent to add. Thanks for participating, go back to being an ass in the game and a bitch in real life now.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

I always read stuff from a lot of seemingly cool people here on the forums and it's like "awesome I'll get to run into some of these people in game". I'm still waiting on that though haha.

I've been watching Frankieonpc on youtube and he makes the game look like such a blast still. Then you log in and it's get shot on the shore 5 times in a row lol

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

And if you're going to say someone has "severe comprehension difficulties", you probably shouldn't spell it "serve".
  17. almf3

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

No, you obviously have a hard time with comprehension. I said I'd been on plenty of other servers and died with no issues. I tried this one as a refresher because after 2 days back from over a year off, yes, I'm not good you fucking idiot. And it's not against the rules to ASK players not to kill each other moron, it's against the rules to make it so they can't. So him asking that there be no killing is perfectly fine. The point was how someone would feel the need to come in and do that anyways specifically on that server when there's tons of other servers where nothing like that is asked of the players. Maybe you should spend less time being an Internet asshole and more time on reading comprehension.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

And this really isn't something confined to this games player base obviously though this one in particular was plagued with hackers out to ruin other people's games at one point. But I'm sure that's widespread as well, I'm just not as familiar with pc games. But it's no different that being on a shooter and always having those 1 or 2 guys that have to team kill you or come in modded and grief everyone. I just don't understand people's desires to ruin other people's time gaming as a whole. Again that's not the Lions share but it's way bigger than most of us would like.
  19. almf3

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

NexVentor, I really don't need a morality lesson on the game from you asshole. The rules you want to quote don't have anything to do with no killing. You can't disable PVP, you can have your own little "rpg" elements, you can't change the settings though so you have to leave in the ability to do it. The point was someone was nice enough to host a server for people to play on and it shouldn't be too much of an imposition to respect what the guy asked for. There's plenty of other normal servers. If you have to hop on that and screw up other people then you're a cunt. Speaking of cunt, I have a headset with a mic, I didn't have it plugged in. And if you're that impatient with something small like that you're clearly an asshole outside of the ggame as well. I've got no problem getting blasted on any other server, I just thought this one would be a good chance to brush up seeing as its been over a year. If the asks not to do that simple thing it really shouldn't be that hard for a decent person to follow it.

    DayZ is peaceful

Hey all, I'm Al. I'm a console player for the most part but wanted to try pc gaming because I love all types. Loved the mod but hated that it was basically KOS. Was hoping that the SA wouldn't be the same, alas, my dreams were crushed quickly.
