no such thing as friendly lol

Ran into my FIRST friendly player since I started playing again. I've been KOSd so many times. But I was in the small airfield trying to find a sidearm. I was up top in the tower when all the sudden this dude flew up the stairs and went straight back down. I almost knocked my keyboard over trying to hit the chat button. I said "friendly" like 5 times as I pulled my sks out and the dude came back up the stairs. He was fully loaded with military gear but he never even pulled a weapon out. It was a little kid and he was actually really cool. He gave me a handgun and ammo and mags and offered food and water. We traded and then he said "have a good day, by the way have this axe for zombies, bye". Couldn't believe it, finally ran into a cool player in game AND it was a little kid. I kept expecting him to turn around and blast me but he was very cool then just went his own way. I wish I ran into more people like that on there.

    where are the Amphibia mags?

If you're looking for a blaze or magnum the ship wreck is a good place. It's the first place I head when I spawn. Always a gun and a mountain pack. Ammo for the gun is another thing entirely haha

I've been looking as well. I've got one chambered but no mag. Glad I have an sks as well, not confident enough for only one shot if I come across a bandit
  4. I agree with your post but at the moment gear is the only real "score", at least to me. But often I'm the cat that curiosity killed. Curiosity being a player that shot me while looking through buildings for that one extra little item that could be cool or useful. Eventually I'll learn I guess. I was hoping the kids got bored and moved on to Titanfall or something and I could search around with less fear. But being knocked unconscious like 5 times in a row before finally getting axed showed me the error of my thinking haha
  5. I absolutely love the fact that this game isn't a real pvp thing. There's absolutely no necessity to harm another player unless you fear for your safety or you're feeling greedy for their equipment. That's such an oddity in gaming at the moment. There's there ever present option but no real incentive. There's no points, no score, no perks or bonuses, no real detriments either. It's just an option for the sake of being an option. I just hate that so many people have treated it like a bonus that it's really altered the entire style of the game. It went from sometimes you'll have to be aggressive to "well everyone is out to get me, so I've gotta shoot first". I agree that this game has the potential of a grand social experiment but the outcome thus far has been very negative.
  6. I'd love to find a group to run with and I'd be more interested in helping players than being highwaymen but it's not easy to get with groups from what I've seen so far and the groups I've come across seem much more bent on aggression than anything else. Kinda sad, was not the dynamic I was hoping for starting in dayz.
  7. I think it's just a mix of the entire experience in Dayz. Most players are KOS, so I think that automatically puts the situation from 0 to 11. I've been just out of sight a few times watching a group of even unarmed players go after new spawns pummeling them. There's such a low chance of coming through that situation ok I think most players would just chance it. And if you're robbed and lose your gear, what's really the difference? Your character is just a basic, non - important avatar. As soon as you lose all your stuff your essentially a fresh spawn, so is it better to go out in a blaze of glory or try to get out or just stand there and take the VERY low percentage chance that you're not gonna get killed and rolled? There's no real investment in your character I can see besides the loot you attain. There's a huge KOS mindset in this game unfortunately and it just makes that "let's just stand here and see where this goes" scenario very unappealing. I've been killed trying to help, trying to stay hidden and go through inventory, trying to heal other players, etc. Trust is the rarest commodity in the game. From my point of view all that guy knew was that he was at a disadvantage. There's no telling if you were serious about him being surrounded, if you were actually armed, anything. But he did know you could see him and he couldn't see you. That's a really rough spot to be in this game. Normally you're just shot dead before you know what's happening. I think actually having that moment to think about it ups the adrenaline more and makes it more tense.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

Yeah that particular case was way rougher than the usual trolling. But on the flip side of the coin you never really know who has that short fuse. There's a ton of kids on this game and others and it's a different world where this is a larger portion now. There's no telling who's close to that edge.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

Bororm I completely agree it'd be unfair to loot up then go to another server. Some people have I'm sure, I didn't but I can only say that about me. But people should care since the admin cared enough to rent the server space for people to play on and so he could have a place for people who wanted the same experience. I think if he shelled out the money for a portion of the community to try out, respecting that isn't too much to ask. But that's more of the "who cares about other people?" Mentality.

Trust me I'm not furious at all. We all know the trolls are idiots. But I'm not going to shy away from a discussion with him either.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

I wasn't picked on anymore than any other kid in school. There's no anguish. I find it sad that people act that way in the first place, that was one of the points. And I haven't brought up anything that doesn't tie in somehow. And BORORM, I completely agree it'd be unfair to go in there and gear up and then go on the other servers. And I'm sure there's people who've exploited that. So it goes both ways. Thats not why I went know there and as soon as I got some stuff on there I stopped going to the other servers. I was just seeing the lay of the land and

No, not anyone. If you look carefully, a single person got that kind of reply. And yes, very quickly. But every other person I've interested with, I've done so trying to be articulate and thorough in my response. He made a reply with a clear intent and I responded in kind. In public if I disagreed with someone I would be more than happy to have a debate about it. If someone made a mistake I'm pretty easy going about it. If someone tries to start a fight I'm also quite happy to go along with that. Not hiding anything here.

The parameters of the game are that you have to have the ability to kill another player, not that you have to do it everytime, regardless. Especially in a server where the admin said "we're gonna try and do something a little different in this server, please respect it". He didn't take away the ability to act how you want, he so my asked for the courtesy that you keep yourself in check.

Haha a shitcunt troll for asking why people feel the need to act certain ways? I admit I wasn't very eloquent in the original post but I don't really see how asking about what it is that makes people want to mess with the experience of other players online in a negative manner is trolling.

Mithrawndo, enjoy the Internet as a right, over here cable providers are now trying to divide it up the same way they do cable packages. You pay certain amounts to use and see certain things. Pretty sad that something that's been used to over throw dictatorships and regimes and bring the world more face to face with each other and help highlight differences and similarities is in danger of being chopped up to add to profit margins of multi billion dollar companies. I'm thinking more and more I need to either head across the pond or at least up to canada. But you guys have top gear so you're in the lead.
