One thing which I think dayz could use is a longer draw distance option for graphics. I know this will have a knock on effect for players in cover of grass and bushes. I just think at the moment the vegetation is not drawn far enough into the distance.

I think better gore effects is needed at some point. The blood “effects” when you get hit and when you hit others are rather basic at the moment, it would be good if there were better dripping blood effects, body impacts and blood splats when you nail someone with an axe etc, nothing too cartoony though (like Mortal Kombat etc), keep it realistic. Having zeds eating fallen corpses is something I’d love to see, would add a lot of atmosphere, as would having just generally more discarded blood and maybe body parts just scattered around, even if these are static/fixed texture entities and not actually created by a fallen player.

Ive heard the devs state that they will incorporate "physics" in a upcoming update. However I am confused as to whether it will be just their own "physics engine" or if it will be "nVidia PhysX"...? Anyone know?

I take it that just runs on the CPU then?

At the moment I don't think there is a PC on is earth that can run dayz flawlessly without frame drops in towns etc. Perhaps wait until BI make changes to the threading and renderer before passing judgement on final performance.

Any idea why you can't run *directly* uphill? You seem to be able to run diagnoally, but it only works at certain angles. If its a sake of realism, why can't they just slow you down if you run directly uphill rather than not being allowed to do it at all. The way it is now feels odd, you can be running, then all of a sudden you will stop because you move across a peice of landscape geometry that is a fraction too steep.

A very busy couple of weeks for the whole team has just ended....

I just wanted to say, that I am very much excited with the direction this game is heading. The upcoming updates such as the better animations, physics and ragdoll, sound really exciting. I think the news that the graphic renderer is going to be uncoupled from the sim will be good and also the news that it may go 64-bit is all positive if it renders greater performance, which I think is severely lacking when entering towns and built up areas. One thing that I would like to see addressed is some better particle effects for smoke and blood. I would hope that the ones currently in DayZ SA are just placeholders etc. -
Sup guys. I bought DayZ yesterday. I played for a bit last night, got killed twice by "friends" that I met, haha. I guess I need to stop trusting... I'm in UK, if anyone has any advice or wants to hold my hand through stuff then please, let me know, I need it! :) Cheers, Ben.
