magnum=worst gun to use on zombies?

Really need to aim for the head now. Killed a Z with 3 shots from the trumpet(spelling?). I think it was 1 or 2 headshots and 1 to the chest.

I feel a rumble in my bowels

I don't know if that's still correct, but before .55 there were 3 or 4 stages of sickness. If you were still in the first stage and took antibiotics you would jump right to the last stage. Without you would have to go through all stages which is very tough.

    Need a Few Tips (Food).

I couldn't find cooking pots yesterday. Before .55 I found them rather often. Where do you guys find them now? They used to spawn in kitchens/on ovens.

Tents have now become more important than ever

Cheers. I'm on high pop private, though. :D

Tents have now become more important than ever

Nice. Will give it a try next time I play. Thanks. :)

Tents have now become more important than ever

Interesting. It is not a military tent, right? And you pitched it on .55? Not before?

    Cooking in .55

That's what I am trying to find out here. In .54 we needed a pot or the meat would just burn and get ruined within seconds. I don't know if something has changed in the latest patch.

Tents have now become more important than ever

Tents would be great if they wouldn't disappear the second you pitch them. I pitched 2 tents yesterday and both disappeared instantly. I pitched them whole holding them in my hands. Maybe I should put them on the ground first?
  9. It is still possible to kill them with one hit to the face with the axe. But you need to be very lucky. My friend only managed it one time when we played yesterday. The other times it took 2-5 hits to kill them.

What do you think about the new update .55

@ryanincalgary: There are no non persistant servers anymore. The new patch forces persistence ON on all servers. I agree that things still need to be fixed. But as I stated earlier I love the patch and the direction the game is going.

What do you think about the new update .55

I played 4 hours today and I loved it. We started north of the ship and moved to Berezino. Met quite a few people. All without weapons, so they were no threat to us. Everybody was looking for food but it's impossible to find anything on the coast. Zombies were ok. Harder to kill and they will get in some hits when you fight them with a melee. We started shooting them instead. Stealth works good! Only real issues we had were related to things despawning. We killed a geared guy and before we could loot him (we were after his mosin) his body dissapeared suddenly. Less than a minute after we killed him The other thing were the tents. We found many tents but all (we tried 2) dissapeared right after we pitched them. Anyways. Besides that we liked the changes a lot. Have to check every house again as the good houses are not necessarily good anymore. We are almost starving at the moment because we can't find a pot to cook our meet, but at least my mate didn't get sick when he ate 2 raw meat because he was starving to death. We moved inland and found at least a bit food to give us some more time to find more.

    Update 0.55 [Experimental]

That's awesome. I hope the update comes to stable soon.

How Often Do You Meet Survivors?

I play on a 50 players server which is always full. I meet people almost every time I play. Even when I try to avoid them inland it happens regularly that suddenly someone tries to shoot me. I guess it depends on the server you are playing on. Last week I met a nice guy and we teamed up and played over an hour together until we both got killed by someone we never saw.

    Problems with current state

Are you playing on experimental servers? There is no stamina on stable servers...no idea about experimental servers, though. You can run and run without ever stopping (when hydrated and energized). I always play on full servers with persistence off. No problem with finding stuff and being fully geard within 1 hour. You just need to learn where to find the good stuff. This is not the mod. You have to think of it as a different game and have to learn it first, even if you were good in the mod. When you know the map you can run straight inland and will find food and water quickly and then continue looting unlooted places.
  15. Hi everybody. Do you ever come across situations where you completely panic and later think what you should have done differently or better? (I bet you do.) How do you handle it when you suddenly get ambushed/surprised by hostile players and bullets flying past your head? Do you just die or do you get out of these situations alive? Two examples: I usually play on a popular private server which is always full (50 players). I was looting a village on the south coast, west of Balota, north-east of the prison island. I had a blaze without ammo and saw a police car down the street. I rushed to it and found the right ammo in the trunk. Unfortunately my inventory was completely full and I needed a few seconds to decide what to drop. Just as I picked up the ammo to dash to the next house for cover I heard a shot and went unconcious. A few seconds later I woke up and the shooter just ran away from my body, oblivious to the fact that I was still alive. Here is where I pannicked. If I had stayed cool, I could have checked if I still had the ammo for the blaze, loaded it and shot the guy before he even realized that I was still alive. Instead I stood up and tried to run, only to realize that my legs were broken. I checked my status and saw the fracture and bleeding. I decided to patch myself up. At this moment my nemesis realized that I was still alive and came back to finish me off with his axe. :( Another time I got shot at in another small village but only heard the bullets and ricochets. I didn't panic, though, and ran around crazy to provoke more shots. I finally heard the shots and rushed him with my sawn off shotgun. He had wasted his 5 bullets of his mosin and was an easy target while he was fumbeling to reload. He died quickly but unfortunately had a friend who killed me before I could even look at his stuff. (Another mistake one should avoid! Always check for other players before looting a dead body.) Again my question: How do you fare in stressfull situations when you get surprised by bullets flying past your head?
  16. I know, I know. Chances are slim that this guy reads the forums. I should always ask random people I meet in the game to check the forums if something happens. Anyways, if anybody knows a guy called "Harrison" who played on the DG clan private server #1 today about 2 hours ago, please point him to this thread. We met in Novo, killed a guy in self defense in the clock tower and traveled all the way south to Solnichi to meet a (female) friend of him who was escorted by a big group of canibals. Unfortunately we got killed at the well in Solnichi. By the sounds of it, it could have been a handgranade! oO I spawned south of Berezino and ran back and found both our bodies and got some of my stuff back. So, if you are on these forums, let me know. Was nice to meet you. You were the first random guy I ever trusted to team up with and it was great! Thanks for reading and sorry to the guys who might get a bit annoyed by just another thread like this. :)

    New to this awesome game!

You can find small stones in "stoney areas". Just look on the ground with empty hands. Small stones take only one space. Those small stones can be used to craft something. I leave that to you to find out (can tell you, of course, if you want).

    New to this awesome game!

You can already live completely of the land by hunting, fishing and farming. Maybe this can be the next challenge for you to learn. :) And believe me. The first time you meet another player you might soil your pants. ;) Especially if he/she turns out to be hostile. I love this game and updates are coming a bit faster now I would say. A new patch is being tested atm. Can't wait for it to come on the stable branch. Will bring basic stealth and hordes.

Some thoughts from a new player

You can sort out the ruined bullets from a stack/group of bullets. Usually not all of them are ruined. Right click the stack. Always carry a splint or morphine in your backpack. Splints are easily made (if not bugged). We already got the first implementation of weight. Doesn't effect gameplay yet. What I want to say is that we need to be patient and wait for updates. I (only) got 200 hours in this game and I still love it. That's pretty good for a game I bought for 29 bucks. I started playing almost at release of the alpha (don't have much time to play) and saw a lot of improvement.

    Catch 22

I think the risk of getting KOSed is the same on private servers if they are not whitelisted, but at least you don't get sever hoppers/ghosters there.

    Catch 22

I would, too, recommend that you either play on a private server or whitelisted server. When I play alone I only play on my favorite private server. There is still a lot killing going on, but at least there are no server hoppers there. When I am with my trusty friend we go on public servers to kill or get killed in big cities like Cherno and Electro. I enjoy many different playstyles. Alone I only kill in self defence and usually live from the land in a remote place. Using a bow, traps and gardening to survive. With my friend we are more aggressive and shoot basicaly everybody who has a gun out but never new spawns with only melee weapons as long as they don't attack us.
  22. Afaik you need a rag if the fireplace is cold. If it is still hot you can just add kindling and blow into the fire to light it up again. This message about the kindling seems to be a minor bug/wrong message. You don't need any logs, btw, if you only want to warm up your body. Kindling (and rag/paper) is enough. Only use logs if you need the fire burning for a longer time.

    Bandit hunting.

Nice friends you have. How about finding real friends you can trust?

    First kill

My first combat experience: Was very new to the game. Just found my first gun, a mosin, but no ammo. While I was looting a barn near the construction site in Berezino I noticed a guy coming in the barn. As I had only met friendly people at that time I waved and a second later was dead. Axe in the face. A few deaths later I got my first kill on NWAF. Killed a guy with a magnum. Guess he was sorting his inventory because he didn't even move when my first shot missed him by a few inches.
  25. In my experience all you need is a waterproof jacket/ coat like a raincoat. Your other clothes still get wet but your body won't get damp/soaked. Even when you got wet and change to a raincoat you will get dry rather quick.
