Yeh, DayZ is a few weeks after the apocalypse. I'd like to see more signs of control: tanks, troops, executions. Also bigger cities but that's a different topic.

How often do you find a Long Range Scope?
theevancat replied to TheRealDen's topic in General Discussion
Oddly enough I just found one five minutes ago in the military base south of Vybor. -
In addition, bigger communications gear that has a further range than walkie-talkies (like bigass military radios that take up a bunch of space) and assorted accessories like headphones and mics and whatnot (air traffic controller ones or military ones?) Plus, environmental interference with comms like mountains and weather and distance. Plus equipment condition.

Like others have said before, this looks good. Throw it on over your clothes. In addition, it's a shelter. Plus, one could craft (read: sew together) a bunch of them and make some sort of cover for vehicles when they get here:

Aren't the spawns closer to Berezino? Svetlojarsk is up further than Berezino near that bay.

You just buy this stuff online.

Eastern stuff could possibly be regional member nations deployed to counter the zombies in Chernarus. Be it with CTSO or simply heading over borders to preempt a defense. Such camouflages like Armenian digital: Azerbaijan wears woodland and tricolor desert: Georgia wears MARPAT, woodland, and Multicam: And that's Caucasian states. Potentially Iran and Turkey might have had some osmosis as well, with wandering soldiers and whatnot. And that's not counting the uniforms that the UN (already ingame) would have brought.

I have special rules for my squad, too. We can't shoot anyone and our only offensive measure is: "Hey you! Stop it!"

Attachment(s) for the B95 (and things in the gamefiles)

Doesn't even look like he has a rope. Just maybe a sandbag to rest on, and even then I'm not entirely sure that's necessary. -
My way of distinguishing friendlies is the UN helmet. Everyone has their little thing for ID.

On bipod substitutes, I think shooting sticks would be good. You literally just take some sturdy sticks off the ground and make a rest for them. The ones in the pic are nicer, but I'm sure in a pinch any old stick would do: -
Chernarus needs a theatre building + other building ideas.
theevancat replied to franzuu's topic in Suggestions
I'd like all of these towns to be heavily expanded. I mean, Chernarsus is bigger than the map we have (IIRC this is the South Zagoria province along the Green Sea) and Chernogorsk is the capital. Why isn't it bigger? We could add all of this in and have it become really huge. On a related note, government buildings for the capital would be nice. Parliament and such. There's lot of space between Chapaevsk, Novoselky, Dubky, and Prigorodky that could be filled in to make a greater Chernogorsk metropolitan area. Maybe that'd attract more people there if it was huge. -
I find tactical vests as well, but it is a UK Assault Vest that does a similar job: http://dayz-standalone.wikia.com/wiki/UK_assault_vest Comes in black as well.

IIRC the changelog for the Arma 3 update that brought all that stuff into the game was made by the DayZ team. So I guess they made it for both. It's down there. I just CTRL-F'd "DayZ" to find it. http://dev.arma3.com/spotrep-00013

I think, with Arma 3 being set in 2033 with no zombie apocalypse (that'd be a pretty big thing to ignore if it were real), DayZ is not in the Armaverse at all or anymore (at least after Arma 2.)

Oh, I thought you had it and was buying it for him. That's what I gleaned from the OP.

Wasn't sure if this went in general or gallery, so please move it if it's not correct. So I've been with a character for about a week, playing with my friend who bought the game. We're about a week into our lives so far, and I decided to sit down and make a map from our travels - the map's "POV" is myself, since I don't know what my friends did when I was offline and it would end up getting too tangled (more so than it already is.) I thought it'd be interesting to share, and that I'd ask you guys to share your own. Maybe one can glean information about trends and habits from these, or simply see others' trips through the wasteland. Anyways, a quick key to start off: Circles are camps (where I logged off for the night.) Five-point star is the spawn. Four-point stars are combat engagements, with the city and day beside. - Blue denotes inconclusive engagements (shots exchanged, no deaths.) - Green would denote victories (enemies killed.) - Red would denote losses (friendlies killed.) Colors: Red = day one. Blue = day two. Orange = day three. Pink = day four. Black = day five. Link to Imgur, since it's fairly large. http://i.imgur.com/avjXvdj.jpg

A lot of this is my friend falling off of buildings and regrouping at me at the NEAF (days two through four.) We decided to go to NWAF (he viewed it as sort of a rite of passage because he watched a lot of LPs) and after our encounter there are going exploring. I'll try to update it later.
-
If he gives you $15 and you pay the rest, you can buy it as a gift and it can be sent to his account (there are steps given to you by Steam if you do so.) When he accepts it, the game would be binded to his account just as if he bought it.

Anyone getting bored of Standalone?
theevancat replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I did some sightseeing on my way to the NWAF from the NEAF. I use my time to explore now, since I have a crew with me. Went to Devil's Castle to take some vacation photos today. -
I've been noticing Berezino spawns more often - my clumsy companion keeps falling off buildings and I've been tooling around the NEAF area so he's been noticing a lot of spawns in the east on his way to regroup.

Trade some crack for ammo. Useful indeed.

I'm down for it. That or a radio of some sort, since I often have powwows with my group members during downtime to talk about stuff and plan our journeys. It'd be cool to be doing leisurely activities while we do so.

I sometimes feel like I'm going to accidentally shoot off my gun (my hands get shaky when I'm being hunted) and I was actually musing about a safety with my friend while I trailed a dude with my Mosin the other day.

The UN helmet gives you the power of Al Gore to let you shine your light upon the darkened world. True facts.
