Addressing the Weapon Calibers - Compromises and Proposal
bodybagger2430 replied to Katana67's topic in Suggestions
I like it. It makes all calibers minimal, yet also doable instead of splitting them into tiers like most games do. Fallout 3 and New Vegas begin the prime example. (Oh, it's just a 9mm SMG, it won't do the damage to anything I NEED at this level!) -
We have a civilian bolt sniper already, we need a military one, the SVD is confirmed, so I would guess that will be the military answer to the mosin. Most likely it will be an m24 or some type of scopeless hunting rifle. Edit: the bipod on mosin is already gone on the experimental.

We need more community involvment! Official "Private" Servers?
bodybagger2430 replied to Wayze's topic in General Discussion
At the moment characters and data are all saved on a central hive backed up and saved in bohemia servers, rental servers only provide the world and resources to support that world; this means if there is a problem bohemia can get your steam ID find your character and examine it, gathering data about that problem and why it occured, fix it, and make sure it doesn't happen again. Enter the private hive: character data provided and stored by the server provider. For the sake of argument let's assume you don't immediately see the problem here. Since this data is stored by the private company, bohemia can still pull your character, but it will be a different character without any issues. Oh you found a bug that completely breaks the game and unable to do anything, causing you to blue screen upon loading that character? Sorry, your character on our servers are fine and we can't see anything wrong with it, you must be creating a false bug report caused by your system or something, dismissed, that bug won't be fixed because A: crucial information that a video or screenshots can provide is missing and B: we can't be sure you didn't fake the entire thing for attention. -
Isn't "DayZ" quite possibly the dumbest name ever?
bodybagger2430 replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I find it hilarious Dean even thinks it is a bad name but since it stuck he has kept it. When you think of it as "day zero" it's not bad, but if you consider it "day zombie" yeah... it's bad. -
How many folks went back to playing the Mod until SA goes to Beta?
bodybagger2430 replied to AdmiralBull's topic in General Discussion
During the sale I picked up Arma2 and the mod, to give it a try. I very much enjoy both, the zombies are better in the mod, and it is further along, but I still like the items and such in the SA. When I get tired of one I just go to the other and alternate, it really makes me appreciate some things done in the SA as opposed to mod and what the team overall WANTS to do, even if they aren't there yet and some things done are questionable to some. (even I questioned the longhorn but, eh, I hear the same things happened in arma 3 EA and look how well it came out!) -
If I get behind someone I will type "hey" since my headset has broken, always with my gun ready, but not shouldered. They go for a gun and get a bullet to the dome, I've emptied 3 into the chest of a guy I snuck up on when I tried to offer help and he went for his crossbow. If you can get behind them you are fairly safe, otherwise you have to just go the opposite direction. I'm sure some people assumed I was hostile, but that is being a complete IDIOT. What kind of Raider comes up behind you and speaks? A real raider will headshot you, a bandit will cuff you. I've done it to a few people that have just logged in, one had logged in with a broken leg, I patched her up in svetlojarsk, sent her on her way with the knowledge I had helped someone, another with pure Kos gear logged in (gas mask, Sks with scope, full camo,) he just ran away, I then began rubber banding so bad even crawling wouldn't get me out so I quit for the day before he presumably set up an ambush. I wouldn't really call you a raider, you let people go that are minding their own business, as opposed to killing anyone you see just because they are there. I will admit that if I don't get the drop on someone and they come in with weapons drawn, 3 in the chest, especially if they start shouting friendly and don't unready the weapon, This bambi isn't taking chances, the moment someone makes a move even remotely hostile they get shot. even people who team with me, if they get to close with fists or weapon up while they think I am not looking I will redecorate the wall. And if they have no paints I'm just shooting them in the leg on principle, assuming I have the time.

The weapon lagging behind your head is "weapon dexterity", what you describe is the weapon moving side to side when aiming, he is referring to the weapon dexterity from last patch, so yes, you are on topic, as sights DO seem to sway now even when prone and not out of breath now and they didn't last patch.

I prefer this to the dispersion method, hopefully this is the first step to deleting dispersion, right now the AK seems accurate to a point, I was able to hit a zombie at around 150 or so with irons last night while testing it. Couldn't see WHERE I hit, but I dropped it with one shot and was pretty proud of myself for being able to do it after having missed a ton of shots that session with the amphibia due to the weapon sway. Now that I think about it, we were using the amphibia and the colt 1911 engraved, and were hitting our targets whenever we would stop and AIM, perhaps dispersion has already been disabled. Edit: no he means that while in Irons and perfectly still the weapon will sway from side to side slightly, this IS something I noticed with the scopes.

Will have to see, I havent' seen one in combat yet. haven't been able to with all the lag.

Except it didn't OHKO, I was still standing, the only thing that happened was I broke my leg and my screen got blurry, i didn't go down at all till the second shot, then it just outright killed me with absolutely no gear whatsoever.

I haven't done much testing with it, haven't been able to get hold of one with a mag for long, however I see it, for the moment, quickly becoming the go to for players who are on the move. I'm the medic for my friends and if I find someone in need I'm always quick to offer a hand if I can, as such this leaves me vulnerable to traps and ambushes if my escorts aren't on to watch over me, as such it's nice to have a POWERFUL auto/semi weapon (used to use the SKS, cause the M4 simply took too many rounds). The sights are nice and clear for closer engagements, despite not having a fiber optic sight, the 75 round mag makes it good for prolonged use without the need for carrying 80 mags, and the scope makes it good for scanning for snipers, single shot mode, as with the M4, seems to increase the accuracy for some reason, once the weapons get overhauled we will have to reevaluate each gun, but for now, it's a good choice for both medium and close encounters. As for power, as a fresh spawn a guy was running around killing freshies in an orange raincoat screaming about having the new rifle, he popped one guy in the dome, turned, and to my surprise shot me in the leg, took about half my health I'd say, maybe a bit more (I just stood still knowing I couldn't beat him with his moto helmet on, and took note of how much damage it did) second shot, dead, so for full health? maybe 5 rounds at most, that's pretty decent in my eyes, though the SKS can still take 1-2 shots to kill, so it's a toss up which you prefer, high accuracy, or high fire rate.

Experimental patch..what a winner!
bodybagger2430 replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
The reason I find this update to be such a good one is that it shows some significant progress. The framework for all new AI has been added, zombies still go through walls, but I have seen dozens now turn around, walk outside, and then walk back in through the door politely, this shows significant increase in the pathfinding that the game now recognizes "oops, messed that up!" and tries to fix it. They usually do this, however I have several zombies charge through buildings as well, mostly military zombies into rooms that I have closed the door to (such rude military zombies). The hunting also shows that they are confident enough in the work so far on this framework to implement it, is it perfect? HELL NO, but the point is it is a bare bones framework that WORKS more than it fails (so far). Nothing right now is scarier than knowing a guy is above you in a police station waiting, while you only have a fire axe or some other bad indoor weapon (or none) then have a zombie walk through the door and chasing you upstairs (and following properly), will he shoot you, or save you? In my case the guy saved me and we paired up to loot elektro and work together despite me not speaking russian and him speaking bad english, didn't stop me from helping him with what little russian I did know and working together to cover each other till the server went down. -

because you are thinking about it. The game employs vashiikaran mind reader technology to see what you want and hide it, empty your mind and think about the stay puft marshmallow man, when I did that I found a 75 round drum mag (it takes 4 slots, predictably). -
Actually a decent video however I'd like it if you went more in depth on it and showed it in action against players and such. Currently I only know of the wooden furniture, the PSO-1 scope and the standard/75 round mag. It would probably be best to start compiling research in game and once the AKM is put into the stable release a full in depth video showcasing it in fire fights and target shooting as well as showing dispersion and groupings while using the different items, something similar to what gews usually gives us, that said, watching your channel, not badly done.

So I've been aiming strictly with the center dot lately...
bodybagger2430 replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Fallout has this same problem due to 3pp being offset weird in new vegas, it is such a chore to grab items in 3rd person. As for the HUD, I'd love for it to be fully customizable to be as intrusive as you want it to be, or as minimal as you want it to be just like the mods in skyrim and fallout allow.
