Regarding the door issue, what if a mechanic was used like in the Amnesia series of games where you "click and drag mouse" to open/close the door? That way you can't possibly have the door open within yourself or have it physically push you like it does now? It could potentially solve the issue they have and would be immersive. I don't really like the idea of dual direction swinging of doors so I hope they come up with something different/better. I like the terrain changes in this SR! Edit: Nevermind about the door thing. Peter clarified for me on Twitter it wouldn't ideally work for MP.

Hello survivors, Like many others, I took a long hiatus from the game due to bad performance. I'm so glad that the first iteration of the new renderer is bringing back so many players because performance is much improved and I really dig the new visuals! I haven't played for at least six months and I really enjoyed the few times I've got to try 60. Everything feels so new from the reload mechanic to just walking around to interacting with things. Hell I even got lost a few times because I've forgotten the map a bit and I don't meta game using outside website maps because I like the immersion of finding your own way. It almost feels like the first time I played DayZ and that was a special feeling as we all know. Anyways here's a little video I threw together of my first real play session in .60. There is not a lot of action but there are some great visuals throughout the video of how great this game looks, at least to me anyways. Hope you enjoy and stay safe out there survivors!

I'm the guy in the vid that was killed while farming :D Love the idea of making Chernarus look more gritty. This excites me!!

It's hazardous and hard work being a farmer in DayZ

You can hear my sigh and I made the same expression at the end lol -
Some of you may remember me posting a few images of a 3D model I created and eventually 3D printed. Here's my original thread in case you missed it https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/228602-3d-printed-the-sign-you-see-when-you-enter-elektro/#entry2303490. I recorded some of the modeling as I was working on it so I figured some of you who like 3D modeling would be interested in it. Note this is not using surface modeling like in 3DS Max so everything you're seeing here is using Autodesk Inventor for solid modeling. Anyways, hope you enjoy! **Re-uploaded with TOOL cover. Sorry about the annoying dub beatzzzzz from the original video :D

Re-uploaded with a TOOL cover. Couldn't take the dub step heh

Sorry about the music. It wouldn't be my preferred choice if you've watched any of my other vids hehe. I had to select something from the youtube vault for compliance reasons ;) Glad you enjoyed it

After getting trolled by the DayZ gods from day into the night, I finally got a little camp setup north.

The print is done! However I ran into an issue I figured I would have when I created the 3D model. The small diameter supports holding up the upper row of letters is too small and fragile, so some of my letters broke off while removing the SLA support structure. No biggie as I can just super glue them back on but still, it sucks as I was hoping for an authentic model based off the game. In order to not have this issue I could just remove the small diameters letter supports and move the letters down until they touch the lower row of letters, like Ivan did in his model, but I wanted as close to authentic as I could. Oh well, here is the 3D print just after the IPA bath. No sanding and any real post process cleanup has been done yet, so ignore the flakes and rough areas until I clean it up later ;) 3D model 3D model and 3D printer support structure "Elektrooooooo" in da house :D 3D print

A member from Reddit (u/IvanStroganov) was kind enough to provide me an STL file of the coin he had made and metalized. I wanted to see how my Formlabs 3D printer would handle the fine details in his model. Here is the result.... I ran into issues printing the other side of the coin due to how SLA printers rely on support structures to help support the part as the resin is solidified as opposed to FDM which uses a different support material altogether. I may have to make this in two pieces so I can print both sides in fine detail without support structures messing it up. But here is one side of the coin showing the Elektro sign (http://orcz.com/images/thumb/d/d8/Elektrozavodsksymboldayz.jpg/400px-Elektrozavodsksymboldayz.jpg). Pretty cool and a very nice model he made Please go check out his post if you haven't seen it already.

Hell no!!! I hate AutoCAD with a passion!! >:( I use Autodesk Inventor for this.

Just finished modeling the Elektro sign, well it's about 90% done, but you get the point ;). This will be a desktop convo piece I think. :)

All 3D printers will have "stair stepping". I'm using a Formlabs SLA printer which took less than 2 hours to print at medium resolution (0.05 mm). Tabs I don't think would help as I'd still have to make a support structure to support the resin as it's solidifying. I'll have to get creative if I want to have a high resolution clean print on both sides but I'll try and figure something out. It can be done, I just need to change my orientation and method of approach. You can get an idea how SLA printers use supports by watching this vid I made https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dh4cYug5XI. It's completely different than FDM where you have a separate support material that gets washed or melted away in post. The end result of SLA is higher resolution and often stronger parts than FDM but the trade-off is more involved post processing and sometimes a limitation in detail on both sides like a coin, due to support structure leaving marks that need to be sanded away. While FDM may be easier to print parts like this because they use a support material and a post process that is far less involved, they serve no use to me other than to make a desk ornament. They just don't have the strength or precision I need for my parts. I looked at many different printers and technologies and after having tested many prints, SLA just works best for me. Take the image below for example. The part on the far right is an FDM printed part while the black and clear are SLA printed parts. The FDM can't take any real-world stress loads or it will flake and break off in chunks whereas the SLA parts actually allow me to test for form, fit and function.

I don't know about you guys but I feel the devs have just about the perfect accelerated timing on 0.58 exp. I see far less players log out when it turns dark now and that's a good thing since I think it changes gameplay and stress levels as light turns to dark. Just one of the many nights I've spent on this experimental patch....

This was during a SepticFalcon "Psyco Night" event on his server. Basically it's every man for himself, cannibals, kidnappers, police officers...you name it. Things typically go to 11 during these events. I start off running into Falcon near Solnichniy headed to Elekto....

It's one thing to battle desync but it's another to battle textures XD

Most of the time I will get these error messages when I'm a fresh spawn on the coast but sometimes they pop up at the worst times lol. I don't think hackers are causing them to pop up. I had been tracking that guy for about 5 minutes earlier. I knew he was in the general area of Berezino but I just wasn't sure exactly where he was. At the time I was streaming and wasn't paying full attention, but playing it back I was able to hear that guys foot steps as he ran out of the police station after I ran past it. I should have paid more attention to the sudden desync as in most cases for me, that often means a player is close by. Still sucks I couldn't shoot back after being crippled. Damn texture trolling me :D

This was thrown together footage from a lonely night up north on .58 exp. It's a bit "I am Legend-esque"... I know :D. Can't wait until this comes to stable.
