  1. Hey now!! Don't you bring up any of that sound logic in these kinds of threads. How dare you! Don't you know you're just supposed to start firing off nonsense about things that have been discussed over and over? I mean come on man get with the program here! We're trying to create the most illogical, toxic, entitled, impatient gaming community to ever exist so step in line of get outta the way! :D

Is the update as bad as everyone says?

Sigh. As I told you in your thread not all buildings have navmesh and its the FIRST iteration of the navmesh people. This is not Unreal Engine 4 and all it's next gen glory where implementing a navmesh is a simple click away and some slight tweaking. Please uninstall DayZ from your Steam library and come back when it's in beta. This game is not for you at this stage.

Is the update as bad as everyone says?

Game breaking? Hardly. The melee hit detection is currently messed up so you have to change your aim a little. It takes all of like 5 minutes to get adjusted to it, just like when the melee hit detection got messed up around .44 I think it was. Don't use anything but an axe IMHO. Even if you swing and hit nothing but air you should still be circle strafing to keep from being hit so I don't know what you guys are doing but it's wrong. Plus It's alpha and shit is going to get messed up from time to time as they add new features and content. Those of us that live in experimental are probably used to this by now and honestly this is one of the better updates this game has received. I'd gladly take the melee hit detection being off because now you can actually lose a zombie, or 5, by running through and around buildings since we have the initial navmesh in place, yet you don't see anyone praising that long complaint of zombies glitching through walls. Is it perfect? No, but it's not supposed to be at this point. I would suggest to come back when it's in beta when things gets polished if you do not like to see things get wonky during development.

    Nice guys finish last

I try not to let incidents like this get to me but sometimes it just stings. I went to kill them later on with a mosin and rounds but they logged off near the gas station after blowing it up.
  6. It was fun searching and glad it was finally found. Great vid as always Septic

Dropped your pack and it's stuck in a tree?

Yup this is how I got my buddies backpack back. He thought it would be a good idea to stash his backpack there while he scavenged Svetlo for me a backpack with loot. Turns out a tree is a good place to stash all sorts of gear so long as you have an axe. I leave scopes and pistols in them around big churches like ornaments for fresh spawns. Nobody ever searches for them though :D

    Tents has anyone found em

I was with SepticFalcon last night and 4-5 of us split the map into sections to search. I got the south portion of the map and hit up everything from Berezino to Cherno, including Skalisty Island and Rog Castle. Septic and the other guys also hit up all the castles since Hicks came into the stream and told us the tents are in the game and that they are in a location most people probably haven't been to in a while. Seeing as how we just had a big community event battle there last weekend Hicks knew we had just been there so he could of meant it's right under our noses. Personally I am going to try the "Stonehenge" rock formation near Prud/Old Fields/Altar area as I vaguely remember there being a junkyard that spawned backpacks. Nobody ever goes there.

Looking for the rarest of rare items, the elusive tent, while at scenic Skalisty Island. Laid out on the beach and got a sun tan while I was there.... Once boats become a thing you'll be able to dock yours here, right next to my jet skis of course... Rust. It's what's for dinner!... In DayZ time, just how long do you think it would take to travel to Mockba on foot? 20, 30, maybe even 40 days lol?...

  11. I don't have an issue with the map highlight. I never use the maps and rarely get lost but I play with people who are new and totally confused by the whole Russian or Slavic language aspect of the game. Add in that they have horrible navigation skills and this can really help them out. Yes it kills the whole immersion thing but for those people I doubt they care if it means they have an idea where they are. For them looking on the websites like dayz db for the map did them little to no good because they still didn't know where they were on the map and couldn't give us good enough visual clues to help them. Now I can literally fulfill my dreams of being a Chernarus travel guide and offer maps to newspawns! :D All that being said, i played for several hours last night trying to find the elusive tent but ran across several maps. None of them highlighted my position on the map. So perhaps this is just a known bug. Either way it doesn't bother me but i personally haven't see the yellow circle on the current exp build.

Something to help clear the air.

I think so as well. Once these next big updates roll out to stable where the masses play I think a lot of people will be pleased, at least for a while. Dean mentioned last week that vehicles have been in development and IMO will be the next big thing we'll see. Personally I'm more interested in barricading like you can on Dead Linger or Survive The Nights and the new renderer for DX10/11 since I stay in the woods most of the time. The renderer should help deal with some of the performance issues for most people. Once that stuff is in place and they implement the new zombie and animal AI I will be set. Give me some wild threat animals to hunt and fight with and I'm super golden.
  13. Great vid Rene. Hate that sketchy guy axed you but you could just feel something was up. If the other guy did survive I bet it was only until just after he killed you. I have the same card and don't have anywhere near those issues even when recording with Shadowplay. I play on highest graphical settings, SMAA, etc @ 1080p. Something is up with your setup man.

Do you play on experimental? I'm curious because you've mentioned the zombie path tracing but they have just begun with implementing the first phase of the new navmesh a few minor revisions back on the current .47 experimental build. Basically zombies don't glitch near as much through walls like they do in stable. It's a pretty night and day difference to be honest even with it being the first iteration of navmesh. Give it a shot if you haven't already. You can trap zombies in a room or jail now which is always good fun.I'm not saying DayZ will be ever get rid of all its little quirks just due to the nature of the engine but I have faith the game is headed in the right direction. The desync issues will hopefully be resolved once all of the 64 server architecture is complete. It all just takes time as this game evolves. Even in 8 months of being released this game has far exceeded any other early access game I've bought or downloaded. To me the development has not been slow for most of the time. There was sort of a lull in seeing development released when they were making all the new hires and expanding the team across different countries. That all took time and sort of set things back but ever since .45 things have been moving right along in experimental so that's why I'm confused when people say there is no development. I can sort of see how someone might think that though if they don't follow along with how things are going with the development and be a part of experimental development. In a nutshell progress is definitely being made and if you spend you time in experimental you will see this much more frequently than in stable. Things don't go to stable until they've been thoroughly put the wringer in experimental with everyone's help giving them data. The next stable build update should be over 3GB if you add up what each minor revision of .47 has been!

With all due respect I suggest you open your eyes a little more on this forum or other media avenues such as Reddit or Twitter (yes, I know they are hipster-centric media outlets but that's the easiest and fastest means for the devs to engage with the community). There is a lot of bullshit to have to sift through on there but the devs constantly are vocal about the progress of the game and are aware of issues if the community makes it known vis the bugtracker. Heck even just watching one of Hicks' Twitch livestreams during DayZ gameplay you wil learn a lot about the progress of things even though he hates to talk about it while he's playing sometimes. What I'm saying is many of the concerns or gripes people have issues with on this game can be understood more if they just open their eyes up, look around and drop the "Where's my game damnit attitudes". I'm not saying you have this attitude but many do think they're entitled for something on their dime yet bought the game knowing it was in EA state with warnings all over the place. Nobody is taking your money and running to the beach with hordes of whores lined up with cocaine for miles despite what the haters want you to believe. If that was the case they could of stopped development long ago when the cash cow came calling, yt here they are pumping out content and meeting their quarterly milestones for the most part, or pretty damn close to it. I'm not sure of the exact tolerances they had in mind for each quarterly milestone but hell my game was only $30 so I'm willing to give them whatever time they want. I got my money worth long ago and in it for the long haul. By the time this game is in beta it will not even be the same game and people need to understand this. Hicks even mentioned during a recent stream he expects to have the Steam workshop up and going near the end of alpha! FWIW, just today your issue regarding ambient sounds was answered by Eugene http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2bxixs/dayz_experimental_servers_down/cj9wdea?context=3. previously this kind of reply would of said something along the lines of "We're aware of that ancient bug and it's on the list of course but it's not near the top". Now that they've implemented some of the big pieces, the sound has been moved to a "being worked on" status. Game development at work.

Something to help clear the air.

Perhaps you've missed it from Rezzed this year but Dean did the roadmap slideshow and it gave timeframes of when to expect each phase of the roadmap to be completed, in their respective quarter. Obviously with the hiring of new staff this takes time to get them up to speed but this game has been constantly receiving large chunks of that roadmap. Ever since version .45 we've seen the milestones met and with .46 and .47 being respectively more visually apparent, since .45 was more about the framework so that things we're seeing trickle in now like navmesh, client/server improvements, persistant items and tents (you know things being implemented on experiemental today as I type this) can be a possibility. I rarely play on stable builds and pretty much live in experimental so to me the progress has been flowing along nice for several months now.

    In Loving Memory:

I feel ya man. I lost my long-lived hardcore character Saturday as well. We had been through a lot and died in such a shitty way. I died due to my fault for having my mic on mute without knowing and died because apparently I didn't announce myself, even though in my mind I was yelling to them not to shoot! It wasn't until I replay the video back and realized I had no mic audio. Doh! :D. Dying on stairs has to be right up there near the top. RIP my dear old friend. Gone but never forgotten. Ironic I took this picture of him just before logging into the server that would claim his fate.

    Nice guys finish last

I play with friendly people and we usually die in similar fashion o/. I really don't know why I decided to head into Svetlo knowing I didn't have ammo and the gunshots were more than likely to be from a bandit, or two, ...... or three :D. I had hoped to find some Mosin ammo or maybe a mag for my pistol to ambush them but luck didn't work out for me. I should of just kept on running when I saw them down the street but I tend to look for player interaction and sometimes it's just asking for the wrong kind lol. I respawned in Berezino, found a mosin + 40 rounds and a lust for revenge. They came from Novo, then hit up Svet so I figured they would head south to Berezino next. I waited to ambush them in the woods halfway but they never came. I heard the gas station blow up at Svet and then realized they were still lingering around there so I ran like a mad man on a mission lol. I just wished they hadn't logged off before I was able to get a clear shot on them. Maybe next time...

Ran into a few guys last night at Svetlo on experimental. Asked one of them to model the new CZ527. It's a nice looking weapon! Got loot? And this was my hardcore character on stable which has survived some crazy shit for a long time lol. May he RIP :(
  22. I don't typically care for gamer mag articles but this was an interesting story about a man and his fishing trip. Figured I'd share http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/07/24/dayz-diary-the-fishing-trap/?ns_campaign=article-feed&ns_mchannel=ref&ns_source=steam&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0
  23. I just want a bicycle. That is all. Don't care for choppers or other things but barricading and having a quiet stealthy bike. I want to ride through Novo like....

    What is Persistent Storage ?

Hmm. I was thinking persistent storage is items (tents, backpacks, etc) that can store and keep your loot upon server restart or exiting the game and that persistent servers are servers where your loot and gear resides and stays only on that server (like in ArmA Life). Is that not the case?
