    DayZ PS4 Discussion

I have issues with this statement from Dean today: So let me get this straight, DX11 wasn't even on the table of considerations until a console port came into fruition? ORLY? Because up until today we were all told that DX11 was a priority to fix some of the PC performance issues and enhance the overall look of the game and lighting. Yet now all the sudden none of that was going to be possible until a console port was finalized and funded? We've all known Dean to toss around the idea of a console port eventually coming, so this isn't news to me. What is news though is that the "enhancements" we've been getting (64 bit servers, network bubble, new renderer, etc) had more to do with the PS4 console future than they planned for the "scope" of the PC project. So BI was just going to release it with 15-20 FPS in cities, no 64 bit servers, no DX11 until the PS4 came to magically save the day behind the scenes? I think not! Something stinks in Chernarus and it's not the rotting corpses. I've been a huge supporter of this game but after reading that statement from Dean I'm starting to question just what or who is driving this ship...

When you gotta go, you gotta go... Dev needs to make a new texture for this sign to Gorka. it's the same texture as the sign on the opposite side of the road (that is pointing the correct direction).....

    The Gas Incident

This is a funny highlight video of a Falcon stream last weekend. I died due to starvation because .48 can be brutal if you don't eat apples along the way. That ending though :D

    Hi! New and Shit

Welcome Gengis. Hang in there as you learn the hard knock life of Chernarus during your first few lives. 1) Navigation This is a bit of a hot topic amongst the community but persoally I'm not a big fan of using any of the maps from websites that show loot locations and such. I think it sort of deminishes the intrigue of exploring the map and learning which buildgins have certain types of loot and your odds of finding loot. The online maps also take away a bit from learning the landscape and lardmarks to be able to navigate your way just by knowing which direction you're headed or by identifying a far away city. No map is going to be able to teach you those skills so IMO it's best to learn them the good ole fashioned way by exploring the map on your own. Besides if you're friend says meet me at Berezino and you have to stop and look at an online map that just increases your chances of getting murdered because you weren't paying attention to your surroundings. After a while navigating should become second nature and you can roam the woods without fear of getting lost. 2)Who and how to Trust This is something that you're just going to have to take an educated guess on. What I do is try and watch people from a distance and without them knowing I'm there. If their actions are sketchy I'll just disappear. If they seem friendly I may approach them to se if they want to trade or just talk about whatever. After a while of playing you may find a friend or two and then you'll probably team up with them on steam and the rest is history. If not there is no worry because once we get private shard servers then communities can form on those servers and it will be easier to deal with griefers and people who just want to be a dick in this game. 3)Crafting Right now the crafting recipes are not very deep so the basics can be learned fairly easy and early on. Main thing to know is that you can rip shirts, bandanas into rags to stop bleeding. You can craft a splint by using sticks + rag or bandage. You can chop down trees and bushes to gather sticks or fire logs. There is more in the wiki that goes in depth along with other great videos showing you have to survive in this game (SepticFalcon and Wobo both do great videos about the game and updates). 4)Everything else You have to create your own story. Best of luck out there and if we cross paths know I'm one of the nice guys (not a hero just a survivor). There are a few of us still out there but we are a rare breed. Everyone else is infected. :D

And yet again...I log out in disappointment.

DayZ doesn't "desperately need" vehicles and if you think vehicles are going to cure your skill and lack of understanding how to successfully play this game then you're just going to log out in disappointment again. BTW please stop server hopping to gear up. I can't wait for whitelisted private servers so we can start forming real communities and get these server hoppers and griefers out.

    Pushing your luck

In this video I was on my way to meet up with SepticFalcon to do some footage for the .48 experimental showcase. I was watching his stream and noticed some guy was messing around with him near the garages and gas station on the west side of Novo. I told him to stall the guy so I could run from the other side of Novo to catch up and spook the guy Turns out this guy (Sliker) was actually friends with another youtuber/streamer (Silo) we were going to meet up with at NWAF. He was stream sniping/trolling Septic and anytime we would stop he would try to take cheap shots and knock us out. At first it was all fun but after a while he began getting more brash and it became a concern this guy might just try to murder us all at NWAF once we got guns. Hicks was watching the stream too and got a good laugh out of the ordeal once I killed him because this had been going on for a long while but I had to cut a lot out to keep the video somewhat short even at being 11 mins lol. In the end karma caught up with him :D

    Pushing your luck

I never found out what happened to glow stick Aussie guy. Sadly I think he might of fallen victim to the NWAF monster before meeting back up with us. He did make it through the burn though! :D
  9. Damn people kill themselves for better spawns? What a bunch of lazy BS. Why even play a game with a map this large if you don't want to loot and explore around? I will admit when I first played I tried to use the DayDB map but it felt like a crutch and I would never truly learn loot spawns and locations, so I stopped using it early on. I'm a diehard woodman so I don't need no stinking map or crutch database. It has nothing to do with hyper realism. It's called learning the game.

Well I can't speak or read other languages so to me I just see Mockba lol. Thanks for translation :)

Was my first vid (epic moment)

Everything was good until the end. Please don't combat log anymore. It's a cardinal sin in DayZ no matter if you're a hero, survivor or bandit.

    Character Movement

Just reporting back but you no longer have to hit spacebar like on .46. Just tried out .47 on stable and it worked just like on exp. Hated having to hit spacebar with a passion lol!

Is the update as bad as everyone says?

There is an long H1Z1 thread in the off topic section. Feel free to post there. Personally H1Z1 is a different game tailored towards a more casual/fun play style along with a cash store. It's completely different in that regard to DayZ not to mention being more on the realistic/sim side. I'll give that game a try once its free* but personally I don't see anything ground breaking for this genre and every idea has already been done either in DayZ or in Rust. The graphics also look horrible to me but that's all a personal feeling on style. I can only hope a lot of the young, toxic DayZ community leaves for H1Z1 so I'm hoping its successful lol. DayZ SA has already made a crapload of money so I don't think they're as worried as you might expect them to be. Speaking of other survival games, Miscreated on the otherhand could be a nice gem and I'm really looking forward to that game.

Is the update as bad as everyone says?

No I don't agree with your timeframe. We will have to just agree to disagree on this one. There is no elephant in the room from my perspective. The problem is some people can't see the forest for the trees. Despite warnings you bought a game knowing its in an unfinished state and without any solid timeframe of when the game will be finished after beta. I think we still have at least another year in alpha and possibly a year or more in beta. If it took longer it doesn't matter to me as I'm in this for the long haul.

Is the update as bad as everyone says?

Dupers are not a game breaking mechanic. They are an annoyance sure but until the hacking and exploiting is resolved I don't let it bother me because there is nothing you can do at this point. 160 hours in now and have only had one hacker experience where they stole gear out of my backpack. I've seen hacked mags out there and I just leave them be. Stop playing in regular and your hacker or duper encounter will be far less possible sicne most of them stick to easy mode so they can 3PP exploit. Nobody is lying to you. SMH. Things are almost right on course with the roadmap so I'm not sure where you're pulling that from. Please go play H1Z1 until you feel like coming back to DayZ, if ever. BTW I don't see you upset the Sony devs have already started off by lying to you. Remember that "4-6 weeks" Smedley threw out as nothing more than hype bait. Later to be followed by Soon™. Yeah...

dayz screenshot of fps on low-end laptop

Why not just paste the photobucket "IMG" url that already includes the img /img brackets? Then you just paste that directly in the text box here (don't use the little image icon on the forum if you're pasting the url already with the IMG brackets included. I have no problems pasting my photobucket images on this forum See...(this was done using the "IMG" link from photobucket and pasting directly into the text box where you type)

    So...after 8 months...

    Teleporting hacker!!!!! :D
  18. haknslash

    Character Movement

Not in my experience during .47 on exp. Not sure how it is on stable though.
  19. haknslash

    Character Movement

I was one of the people that didn't mind the new movement. Shrugs :D If they go back to how it was in .46 no thanks. I hated having to hit spacebar to raise my arm for melee.
  20. haknslash

    Character Movement

You can run up any hill in this game if you know how to do it. I haven't tested it on stable .47 but I know for a fact the "G" key trick still worked on .47 exp.
  21. This issue wth your concerns is they have been discussed repeatedly. We're in the first stages of weapon balancing. A new UI will be implemented along with most of your other concerns in regards to loot tables and rarity. It takes time and we're 8 months in people. This is alpha not beta. I think people often get those aspects confused and just how different those two phases are in game development. As far as my comment towards someone else, with all due respect get over yourself, even if this if your thread. Besides it was meant to be taken in a light-hearted manner. I could of just been an asshole and said to him "quit pulling shit out of your ass and spamming the boards with nonsense"....but I didn't.
  22. See my reply above to crazykage in regards to devs using this forum. You're assuming the devs aren't working on core mechanics now and only interested in content because of Redditors? SMH. In this single update alone......64 bit servers = content? Navmesh = content? Weapons balancing = content? Please show me this metric data you're pulling these accusations from. I have a feeling it comes from a dark brown orifice. Please don't make me go back to all the changelogs and copy/paste them here. You'd probably be surprised the ratio of content versus fixes but people often look over those facts.
  23. You don't need to capitalize words to get your points across. ;) As far as being on this forum, well you've already posted in an appropriate thread for that topic http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/200855-why-dont-the-devs-post-content-on-the-official-forums/. My hunch is their replies and reactions can be much more instant on places like Twitter and Reddit. Do I like those mediums? Not really, but I use them only for a means of keeping up with the devs. It's not hard and I really don't understand why people feel they must post on this forum anyways. Would it be nice? Sure, but it's also not like you can't just follow them on twitter or reddit to stay informed. Nobody is "ignoring you" like you mentioned in your post in that link. I agree it would be nice if they posted here but they don't and aren't likely going to, so there's really no point in getting worked up over it. This has been discussed on here more than once and it's just not something we're likely to ever get a solid answer on so I just adapted to the "hipster mediums", albeit somewhat unwillingly at first.
  24. Unapproachable? You can literally hop on reddit and ask a question and if it's worthy of a response (IE: hasn't been asked over and over already) then chances are someone with the team will respond to you or at least the thread you're replying in. They don't really have a "community manager" but I think at one time they were looking into it. Strange you mention they are unapproachable when I've played with Hicks a few times and chatted with him in stream. He's always been great to talk to so I'm not sure where you're getting this idea they don't interact with the community on Reddit, Twitter or even in livestreams. If there is one place they don't interact much it's on here and I would agree with you there. While this place is the "official" DayZ forums this is not the place to interact directly with the devs,
