It's just a basic party system (very minimal). I have grouped up with so many randoms in Breaking Point. It is probably because you need at least one partner to raid the military bases (and because of the way loot respawn works). In addition to their faction system the game feels so much more social than DayZ. KoS still exists but grouping up with randoms is so much more common. I can't wait for a Breaking Point mod for SA.

I haven't played SA in a while but I started playing A3: Breaking Point again after a longer break. It made me remember two important things. 1. The A2/A3 modding community is amazing. 2. "Add to Group" is the best feature ever. #plzrocket

I wish we were forced to interact with others to survive...

It's a horrible how the term "sandbox" is abused by people that play DayZ and don't want team-based mechanics. Some examples of sandbox games include; GTA, Garry's Mod, Saint's Row, Minecraft, Farcry, the new Batman games, Fallout and Just Cause. The term "sandbox" isn't equivalent with "no teamplay mechanics". -

Why would I want to do that? I don't actually want to associate with everyone I meet in-game. I don't want to give out my TS info. I don't want to give out my person Skype. The GAME should provide a means for players to adequately communicate without meta-game "cheats". -

Which is why party/faction mechanics need to be added to the base engine. Clans shouldn't be the only people able to take advantage of coordinating as a group. Right now teamplay is, pretty much, exclusive to clan/pre-made groups because it is much easier to coordinate over Skype than in-game direct communication. People should be given a way to easily group with other players as well as incentives to do so. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
scriptfactory replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
There is a hacking tool available that will hide you from the player list. I was attacked on an "empty" server by two guys that hid themselves completely from the player list. So that doesn't mean you were actually alone. -

scriptfactory replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Spawned in the middle of nowhere. I got the "legs broken" message. "You are Dead." I was in the middle of the forest. I wasn't close to any towns. I didn't have a chance to move or anything. Is this a glitch with the game or a hacker? -
Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
scriptfactory replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
Man, I really hope they make the animals smarter than that. -
Maybe the reason why they haven't added bicycles?
scriptfactory replied to Loopest's topic in General Discussion
But if I am driving a vehicle I kinda' see it as my equipment. Does this mean we won't be able to transfer our vehicles to other servers like Rocket mentioned? -

Does it make sense to save vehicles on the server but save character locations globally? What happens if I am traveling across the countryside and am disconnected? If I join a new server will I lose my vehicle? -
I don't feel it is unreasonable at all. There is something wrong with a game when everyone is setting "Object Detail" to "Very Low" because they would, otherwise, be at a disadvantage. Object Detail should change the complexity of objects rendered and not the number of objects rendered. Everyone should see the exact same objects at all times. If you cannot render all of those objects then you should be forced to turn down your view distance.
-
If your computer can't render long distances then you need to upgrade your computer. Sorry but I don't want to be put at a disadvantage because your computer sucks.
-
So you would rather put people that have a good PC at a disadvantage rather than people with outdated machines? If any advantage is given it should be given to people with better hardware...
-
So disappointed. I don't know what they are thinking. Zombies are great now.
-
You're talking about EA/DICE and BF4 but there is no way SA is more polished in its current state. I have about 400 hours in both games...
-
There is no way SA is currently more polished than any triple-A title at gold.

We don't even need full "base building". Just give us backpacks, tents and safes. Door locks would be cool, too.

Alright, I am finally concerned about the standalone

Night time and zombie hordes are looking sick though. -

Nothing except for a full, working game. I understand the point you are trying to make and there are some harsh comments being thrown at the BI staff but the DayZ was commercially released. They intentionally sold an unfinished product so criticisms about the development process should be expected. If they were releasing a free alpha it would be a different story. I don't have any sympathy for a company that made millions off an unfinished product and I am sure Rocket and co. are doing just fine. -

I fully understand your point. I simply meant the RV engine isn't the only one capable of rendering large maps at extreme distances. I also don't believe it is the optimal game engine for an "MMO" like DayZ wants to become. The mod support IS a big advantage, though. I really can't wait until this game goes Gold so modding support can be enabled. -

I disagree. Many other game engines support long view distances (with magnification). After a distance of 1 kilometers players don't render in the DayZ SA RV "2.5" engine anyway. They like disappear into the ground. Foliage disappears at an extremely short range. Hell, the "network bubble" only extends to 1.5km maximum... Huge maps are possible in any game engine. Rust was created in Unity and it has extremely large map sizes. I've seen something like an "unlimited" map generator/renderer that could, theoretically, create a map the size of the planet Earth. Nether (built on the Unreal Engine) will eventually have a map approaching the size of Chernarus. I wouldn't say this engine is critical for a milsim/survival/zombie game but it is somewhat suited to it. That being said, any mature game engine could be modified to perform similarly to RV. I do agree that this engine is completely ill-suited for a arcade zombie shooter. -
I work for a F2P publisher. I have direct access to data that shows, empirically, the amount of money and playtime invested in mid- and hardcore games based on gender, socioeconomic status and genre. Don't trust the studies by the ESA based on "extensive" surveys that poll barely 2000 households. Game developers know their target audience.
-
Men and women don't play the same games. The numbers posted by the ESA are heavily skewed and misleading. They are overwhelmingly based on mobile/casual "games" (e.g. Farmville, Candy Crush), which are the equivalent of virtual toys, and don't take into account playtime statistics or genre. My girlfriend used to play ZooKeeper Battle and she would be considered a gamer by the latest ESA study but she doesn't consider herself a gamer. Everyone plays games nowadays. But that doesn't make them gamers.

It's actually 30% maximum if you include casual games like WoW.
