What are your biggest concerns and fears regarding the near/far future of the game?
scriptfactory replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
This is going to happen no matter what your fears are. -
They should be attracted to fire but we should be able to surround our "camp" with traps like in the Walking Dead. Example: Empty cans of beans + rope = improvised alarm. Creates a 10m alarm radius. If anything enters it makes a super loud noise. Example: Shovel + wooden sticks + knife = 1x10m pit that traps all zombies that touch it. Does (x) amount of damage to players that touch it, including the trap creator.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
scriptfactory replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
That's great news but I know people that were exploiting the scripting interface after this date. As in, talked to them online via Skype and in-game. Is it possible the changes were rolled back? -

What do you mean with "it's not a problem." Do you mean the scripting has been fixed? -
What are good game mechanics/ features from other games that work in dayz ?
scriptfactory replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
In a live stream about half a yearr ago Rocket said these type of things will probably not make it into vanilla SA but someone will definitely create a mod for this. -

Just play on Experimental. There are still hackers (just encountered one minutes ago who put away my weapon) but you don't mind dying as much. -
What are your biggest concerns and fears regarding the near/far future of the game?
scriptfactory replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
This is why companion animals and farming won't work until there is a good barricading system that isn't easily exploitable. -
Would love to see an improved melee system and play on a server with no bullets. Only bolts and arrows.

PETITION: Do you want to see the Gas Mask/Ballistic Helmet combination reintroduced?
scriptfactory replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
They should remove the ability to carry rifles on your back since they clip into everything. The same is with melee weapons. They should remove player heads since they can clip through walls. /s Removing item combinations due to clipping issues is pretty lame when the whole game has clipping issues. I am pretty sure they did it because everyone was running around in that combo since it is the best. -
To the "friendly" guy who killed me and took my MP5
scriptfactory replied to Evaris's topic in General Discussion
It is the smartest and safest playstyle. It sucks to gear up for days/weeks and then lose your character because you decided to help someone. And this isn't some hypothetical situation, it is reality. If you help others in DayZ you are probably going to lose your character. -
I am probably going to get knocked for this statement but both DayZ SA & mod thrive solely on their metagame, ala Garry's Mod. If you take all gameplay mechanics into consideration it has considerably less depth than even Battlefield 4 (multiple, difficult game modes) or CS:GO (extremely high skill ceiling). Some people love this and some people hate it but, in my honest opinion, I think this was done intentionally. I think they are trying to make DayZ the "Arma" of the survival genre.

An act of kindness can definitely be its own reward. In real life you don't have to worry about that little old lady harming you. Even if she did you could report her to the police. -

It's been there since February at least. I have had my weapons automatically put away by several hackers. -
Custom faces idea for the Devs to consider
scriptfactory replied to archamedes's topic in General Discussion
I don't see what the problem is. Aliens caused the infection, obviously. Immersion restored. -
Custom faces idea for the Devs to consider
scriptfactory replied to archamedes's topic in General Discussion
He even said this in one of his interviews. Something about custom faces requiring too much network traffic or something. Maybe when the engine is more performant they will think about adding this because it is a pretty important feature. Also, if a group of people want to walk around with penises on their faces it should be allowed. Almost every human alive has genitalia so we probably shouldn't be scared of seeing a few dicks and balls. -

This "friendly" metagame will never keep the game from being bandit dominated. Eventually people like the OP will move to a mod that supports friendly/team play or just quit playing. -
Dayz helicopter crash sites not spawning in stable?
scriptfactory replied to JUSTINW1818's topic in General Discussion
This weekend they weren't spawning on experimental either. I don't know if they have fixed this yet. -
Game mode should specify a set the actual difficulty of the game mechanics (e.g. easier to get sick, less health, less loot and harder zombies on Hardcore mode). Server admins should also be able to change these settings (including 3PP/1PP on/off) in a Custom mode.

Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode

I would report this post if I could on my phone. You don't have to talk to him like that. Not cool, dude -
Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode
scriptfactory replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
Awesome. Then we are in agreement on something. Changing the viewpoint to a more "over-the-shoulder" one would decrease the ability for people to see over objects a bit while still giving situational awareness (e.g. being able to tell if you are really hidden in a bush/tree). -

scriptfactory replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
3PP is just a different playstyle. It is not unbalanced just because you can see over walls. There are imbalances created by the third-person perspective but when I hear a particular game mode is "unbalanced" it suggests certain players have a constant advantage over others. In DayZ players are offered completely symmetrical opportunities. In Regular mode everyone has the same opportunity to use 3PP mode. A person intentionally running around in 1PP mode will be placed at a scouting disadvantage but this is a part of the game. Nothing says that a player cannot switch to 3PP mode or alter his playing style to combat potential campers. AFAIK players cannot shoot through walls while looking around in 3PP mode either. Even Hardcore mode has advantageous positioning. Ever hide inside a bush/tree or lie in the grass in 1PP thinking you are hidden only to find someone can easily see you from 50m away? That is a disadvantaged position as well but no one is saying "get rid of trees and grass". I'm just sick of people saying Regular mode needs to be changed because it is fine. I also don't want that fourth wall crap with the disappearing players. It sucks seeing tanks just appear from nowhere in WoT and it would suck in DayZ. Talk about an immersion killer... Perhaps some tweaking can be done to the 3PP camera but, honestly, I don't want the devs focusing on this when there are really important game mechanics that are yet to be implemented. This is, of course, my opinion but I do believe it is a valid one. -
Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode
scriptfactory replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
There is no right or wrong in this context. There is only personal opinion. If you would truly take an moment and look at the current situation objectively it appears that the majority of people enjoy 3PP mode and, therefore, it is the "better" playstyle for them. I play both 1PP and 3PP mode but I find myself gravitating towards Regular servers. I don't do this because Regular is the "better" mode or more "balanced". I don't believe I ever said one mode is more balanced than another mode. I simply said Regular mode isn't "unfair", its simply another game mode that has another player perspective. Play whatever you want to play. Just stop making topics every few days about how no one plays Hardcore mode, especially since there are always a few full Hardcore servers. My position is that both Regular and Hardcore modes are fun and I hate it when people label 3PP mode as "unfair" and "unbalanced". There is no defense necessary for my statement. If the mode was so unfair and unbalanced no one would play it. But people overwhelmingly choose it for whatever reason. And that is cool. -

scriptfactory replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
I honestly don't care either way. I am just sick of these types of threads being started by people trying to get rid of 3PP mode because it is more popular than 1PP mode and wanted to rile you 1PP elitists a bit. But for real. Go away with these complaints. Rocket already said that 3PP mode isn't going away. Drop it. -

This is not canonical. Game content may be added during the alpha phase (e.g. player models, items, etc.) but features (e.g. game mechanics, game modes, etc.) are normally frozen, meaning no new features will be added in the current release. Steam Early Access alpha is not a typical alpha.
