While some people here seem to think "video games don't make you violent" it really isn't true. People who routinely play violent video games tend to be more aggressive and confrontational in real life. People who play violent video games with a black male avatar have displayed an increased racial bias towards black males, specifically in reinforcement of the negative social stereotype that black males are aggressive. Violent video games and media do affect your psyche and if you are an aggressive dickhead in real life, video games can reinforce that negative behavior. Edit: A "report-to-server-admin" button would be great.

Sometimes I am really annoyed by the way Mosins and Machetes sticks to my back. I stopped using Mosins because of this and now carry my Machete in my backpack. Make a "weapon sling" item that attaches to all primary weapons. It can then be strapped across the back of your character. Normal rope could work, too. If I want a fireaxe I should have to carry it in my backpack or in my hands. Or, with rope, I can strap it to my backpack. Get rid of the weapon slots, please.

Maybe they could just add a "Break item" action that can "Ruin" a weapon but allow weapon kits to restore their status from "Ruined" to "Worn".

What changed? http://youtu.be/es42HrtPB3I?t=27m10s "Spawn systems tied to controlled locations"?
-
You don't need to lock people to a single server. You incentive people to stay on a single server. Now that we have persistent items they can add controllable spawn locations. Respawn in tents or sleeping bags. Players and clans will start to make homes. I would be surprised if they weren't already planning on adding sleeping bags since Rocket talked about this (i.e. controllable spawns) during the roadmap presentation.
-
You want an endgame? Add sleeping bags and barricading and traps. Respawn @ sleeping bags allows you to protect a base. You should be able to respawn @ tents, too. With private shards this would become incredibly useful. Communities could form in towns.

The Effects of Starvation, Cannibalism and injuries on the players body and using the natural enviroment to your advantage.

Why do we think it's ok to add completely new systems, that need to be balanced, to DayZ. The health system is fine as is. Just balance is needed. Increasing health to at least 50k while leaving blood @ 5k would help the game, IMO. This would increase the length of firefights and more skilled players would still get more kills because of headshots. Medics would be more important use since administering IVs (to increase blood) would become useful during the firefight, not just after it. Health should still increase at a rate of 1 HP per second. There is your progression. Also, make it impossible to bandage after being shot by a crossbow until the bolt is removed. So you bleed until you can remove the bolt and then bandage. And the bolt does extra damage when being removed. -
Dayz Standalone is lacking a huge core piece in my eyes.
scriptfactory replied to Zanders's topic in General Discussion
I would support character progression based on hours played. Older characters could run a little faster, jump farther and bandage quicker. Maybe you could grow a beard, too. No stats like Nether. -
The only skills I would support are skills that increase your animation speed. Like how quickly you open your backpack, craft items or switch weapons faster. Everything else, no.

Add weapon slings and get rid of weapon slots
scriptfactory replied to scriptfactory's topic in Suggestions
Kinda agreed. It definitely sucks your primary weapon doesn't stay equipped when doing things like eating, climbing, drinking and bandaging. When (if) the game animations and mechanics improve our characters might be able to put down a weapon, perform an action, then automatically pick up the weapon again. -
having 2 primaries on back instead of primarie and a melee
scriptfactory replied to Kellrush (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I vote get rid of the weapon slots. Primary weapons can only be carried in hands or with a sling/rope. Fireaxe/machete can be strapped to backpack. Add an animation to pull items out of your backpack or vest. No more running and rummaging. Gun holster value increased. Firearm utility increased. KoS increased but with shards coming, who cares. No more magic items sticking to your back. Call it authentic. -
I have had this happen on a few occasions. One time it was a hacker as when I respawned I was almost immediately shot as well. Another time it was because I logged out inside of a barn, I think. Not sure. Now I only logout in the woods.

So whats every one gonna build/fortify when all that gets added?
scriptfactory replied to Sirwarriant12's topic in General Discussion
Save spawn locations per server and not globally (per hive). p.s. This also fixes ghosting and server hopping, to a certain extent. Make people spawn around the whole map. -

H1Z1 is in "pre-alpha" and all games have features implemented before the alpha stage. In fact, most have a vertical slice of ALL features implemented before alpha release. Edit: Well, at least before the Steam EA epidemic. -
Your first mistake was thinking that DayZ was a post-apocalyptic survival simulator. It is not. I've come to realize that it's a realistic combat simulator with base-building, survival elements and zombies. Realistic Minecraft with PvP, if you will.

You don't actually "know for a fact". The devs said they would add it but that doesn't mean things can't change. Alpha and all that. -
POLL: Should recently-rendered-unconscious players be able to immediately respawn?
scriptfactory replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Um. Won't people just relog if they take out the respawn option? -
Companion animals would make the game more fun for me. They should be both a blessing and a curse. Positives: - Early warning of other survivors and zombies. - Dogs can detect if other survivors have murdered a lot of people or not and growl if they have. - If you get shot at close range dog should try to latch onto the shooters arm. Negatives: - Dogs require regular feeding/water. - Dogs increase your chance of being seen because they are dumb. Fun: - You can train dogs to follow your movements. The better trained they are the more closely they will follow your movements and orders. - Example: An untrained dog will just run around and bark when zombies are near. A well-trained dog will only make a low growl. - Example: A trained dog will go prone when you go prone. A poorly trained dog will do whatever the fuck he wants, possibly drawing attention to you.

Is anyone else finding current stable build.. well, unplayable?
scriptfactory replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
I have dealt with a lot of the same issues. Also, whenever I drink from a well I get stuck and have to relog. I died twice because I got attacked by a zombie while I was drinking. It's not fun to play at the moment. I will come back in a couple of weeks when all of these problems are sorted. -
What? You can sharpen knives with stones?

scriptfactory replied to Sirwarriant12's topic in General Discussion
I don't want to build anything. I want to be able to expand existing structures. Build gardens in rooms. Barricade windows/doors. Add generators to create electricity. Basically everything in this video: -
Every combat knife I find is almost broken. They should totally make weapon repair kits work on item attachments and melee weapons.
-
Am I reading this correctly? Rocket said the controls were too responsive before so they intentionally added delays?... /sigh I never thought the day would come where I would wish DayZ had controls like Arma 3. At the very least they could fix the problems with the hotbar and vaulting.

Strafing is pretty bad. Peeking is impossible in this game. Sidestepping should definitely be possible. I took the uphill running to mean the current uphill movement is pretty bad. I should always be able to jog up a hill. I should never be forced to a crawl unless the include is so steep that I am actually forced to crawl...

You don't need to exaggerate, Mr. "90 hours played". There were many valid points raised and I don't believe a single person in this thread mentioning sprinting up inclines or strafing at 20mpg. If you aren't going to contribute to the conversation at least refrain from injecting talking points into the thread that no one mentioned.
