I, honestly, find people like you confusing. Why do you defend the devs that knowingly sold a buggy product to ignorant people? Isn't that like exploitation of the stupid?
-
I understand what they were trying to do, I guess. What you said makes sense. But if no one wears those shitty clothes what was the point in adding them? Why not add some post-apocalyptic style clothing that people would actually put on?
-
He is probably referring to the fact that dates/milestones that are repeatedly missed. The alpha status of a game has nothing to do with project management and broken deadlines.
-
I kinda' agree and kinda' disagree. There has been a lot of progress made on the game but it has all been shit like server-side physics, ragdoll, hunting, fishing, cooking, ugly clothes that are not even used and other shit that I really don't care about when they could have added item persistence, faction identification and barricading. Real (basic) features that change gameplay in a major way. So, I do feel their priorities are wrong but it isn't my game sooo... eh.
-
I wish they would stop adding horrible clothes (the chav track suit? really?) Instead they should add more shit that people would actually wear like scarves that tie around your neck, nice looking jackets that you can actually put on over normal shirts, more backpack types, weapon slings, kneepads, riot gear, etc.

It's called occlusion culling and RV already does it. It might not do it that well (I am not sure) but this is definitely a feature of the engine.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

I hope you don't think I was trying to instigate anything or cause a problem. The guy asked what was going on. I told him. If I misunderstood your strange post I apologize. :) -

It's a hack. Not a glitch. -
Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?
scriptfactory replied to banjo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Questioning Rocket's leadership ability isn't really a personal attack. And most people in this thread have either defended him or don't care either way. :) -
I actually understand that rifles are way more dangerous than crossbows and bows. But in order for crossbows to see any kind of use some kind of utility should be given to them. As of right now they are useless. I think gameplay would only get better if more utility was given to some of the lesser weapons like these.

This is the truth. There is no denying that the vast number of people playing DayZ want to play it like a deathmatch. I am thankful that they are finally adding in survival elements. At some point, however, I would like to see multiple game modes with varying amount of survival, pvp and social elements. There is no reason, in my opinion, this game should be limited to just one playstyle. -
You guys are wearing too many clothes. Just wear the normal black or blue shirt unless it is raining. Only put on a rain jacket when it is raining. Weather effects have only limited the clothing you can wear. It really isn't such a drastic change. Edit: I am almost geared after running around for 30 minutes on Experimental. I just ran directly to NWA after spawning. Picked up a normal shirt and food on the way. That is all.

Do you know any C++? I'm actually working on one for UE 4. If I ever finish it I will send you the source. -

Every major game engine could infinite maps through the use of level/map streaming. Every single one. -

I now understand I shouldn't take any of your comments literally thank you for the explanation. Treat others how you expect to be treated? Sarcasm aside, I believe I have been quite respectful in the majority of my posts. Being blunt isn't the same as telling a person to "shut the fuck up" if they haven't created a game that has sold 2 million copies. You have been fairly rude to me in every one of your comments. Perhaps you should take a dose of your own advice. I will drop the topic now. Good day, sir. -
People are still able able to create unlimited mags via hacking tools, just not from simple scripting anymore.

I'm not sure what sales have to do with my opinion but I will share my experience with you. I'm a senior software engineer for a F2P game publisher in Europe. I have been working in this job field since 2002. I don't sell my software, I sell my services. A few million players use software I helped develop every day. Am I allowed to have an opinion now? While bugs can be expected in software released during its alpha phase of development everything is not "supposed to be broken". The general developer mantra is, "make it work well then make it work fast." We can see this exemplified even by the DayZ programmers. They are continually working to fix bugs in their software as soon as they are created. In the future, if you have questions about certain comments I have made or wish to ask my opinion on a certain subject please ask. I will not "shut the fuck up" but thank you for the offer. Cheers, old man. ;) Edit: Please don't take the "old man" as an offense. I have seen one your videos and I believe you are only a year older than me. I meant it sarcastically because many of your comments are reminiscent of a teenager. :) -

Personal attacks are against the forum rules. We are not, at all, inline with the roadmap. We are, without question, behind schedule. This is not a negative statement or an attack on the devs. It is a simple fact. Barricading is one of the most important features of the game. It is just as important as a functioning navmesh and a working melee system to many players. To some players it is MORE important seeing as how zombies and melee work "ok". People have a right to an opinion and, as long as it is phrased somewhat respectfully, there is no rule against criticism. If you can't accept that then perhaps you should stop browsing the forum. -
I don't know. A damaged pistol with a mag and a few bullets would instantly give value to all those unnecesary weapon kits. I would prefer if the majority of our good equipment had to be farmed from zombies.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

I am pretty sure this is not true. We are at the end of Q3 right now and many features are missing or not working. Item persistence, for example, was supposed to have been implemented by the end of Q2. It still has so many problems that it can't even be rolled out to all stable servers. I think the development is going OK but it is a lie to say we are "on track per the Roadmap". -

scriptfactory replied to banjo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Hey, software developer here. Everything is NOT supposed to be broken in an alpha. In fact, during an alpha all features are normally implemented with (at a minimum) placeholder content and every implemented feature should be working as bug-free as possible. ;) -

This is not true. -
Wouldn't bring weight into the equation without taking into account ground "softness". Falling onto grass, soft dirt will results in less impact force than falling onto concrete.
-
I'm pretty sure they have to fix the duping issues with tents and the other persistence issues (that require persistent servers to be wiped occasionally). Not 100% positive, though.

.49 will be an Experimental update. Experimental updates often come on Friday... even though they said they won't do that anymore either.
