Spicing up gameplay with the Survivor Challenge
Tigermonk replied to Fortune_Finder's topic in Gallery
nice video man, good gameplay.. that is indeed what I miss. nowadays in dayz.. as well as doing these things with a group of mates.. 50 players on server just 4-5 of us.. total chaos.. doing sniper missions in elektro/svetlojarsk -
those are coming.. they're already making/programming modding tools.. so expect those in the very near future (a little before or after 1.0)
-
More and more agressive zombies, hostile animals, luxury trading items (jewelry, gold, silver, alcohol/tabacco, pack of smokes), better optimization for multicore CPU's, more FPS/optimized towns/environment
-
well said, and the last part 'dead and burried' is probably what it is for me until 1.0 the progress is so incredibly slow... imo... too much stuff we don't need (300 WO I weapons nobody uses etc) I've posted a small list in the dayz audio topic section on my thoughts.. but they should fix the zombies, the enigine (having a 1,5K beast of pc.. but only running 30 fps in cherno or less is just fail.. so until they fix the engine (something they should have done long ago!) and the zombie/player mechanics DayZ is pretty much a NO GO for me at this point. the hunting/small camps is cool.. but wait until we can build MASSIVE camps/semi cities like TWD... hold that with 20+ people start ur own community and survive the endless hordes knocking at ur gate.. that would be DayZ for me, with a good group of mates, fully immersed by correct audio and physics.. spending HOURS on end just staying alive. supply runs/everyone has a job style of playing. Posted by tigermonk on 25 December 2015 - 10:22 PM seasonal changes in DayZ SA... on what time frame would that be? realistic? so 365 days would also be 365 in DayZ? hmmm very doubtful that'll ever happen.. since the engine their using right now is at its end.. (their prob. already building or looking into something new) the more extreme weather... would be cool.. lightning strikes, why not.. more hazard factors when you walk through the woods.. tornado's? in russia? unlikely... zombies with Xmas hat... fun if you have 2500 zombies in the game and only 20 santa hats... bardar and trade away what would improve dayz 100% IMO - better realistic sound pack(s) for weather/footsteps/zombies/ambient sounds (different types of birds in the woods) - more ambient chaos (fires inside buildings/burning cars/planes at NWA etc.) - base building/shelter building from simple materials (branches/leafs/scrap metal - enhanced farming/growing crops - advanced survival skills/learning system - more animals (bees for example and working bee hives) - aging/facial hair (being worked on by mods already) what Don't we need: More WO 1 guns nobody will ever use 20 additional colors of jacket X this is just a small list I came up with on the spot, that would def. make my DayZ experience more immersive

an issue I've been running into in the last two patches.. is my antivirus blocking dayz when the update comes out.. (firewall) crashing the game in serverlist) never done that before though.. so devs.. question what did you guys change in the setup that my antivirus now blocks dayz AFTER it gets updated... when I re-add a new version of dayz to my firewall it works without a problem.. so.. its a dayz error thats causing the issues..

I was thinking about the idea of specific items in DayZ, we all know people trade off AK rounds/mags and so on.. but in a real life situation.. (or roleplay senario) I was thinking about luxury goods such as: - Cigarettes - alcohol - Coffee as trading wares and usable items. example: you find a pack of cigarettes that contain lets say 21 pieces (EU standard) you'd right click it and you could smoke a cigarette. this would be a good trading product for various reasons. If everything goes down, the first thing to fall (along with general order) is currency. but since ammo should be in short supply (currently not the case for most types) it should be a last resort to trading. Alcohol (home grown?) should be a more accessible form of merchandise for trading and bardering. the same goes for cigarettes. this would (for example on the server where I play) give certain groups that horde a lot of stuff a general purpose. becoming a kind of go-to store when people have addictions (smokers etc.) or just want something other than soda and water to drink.. I think the alcohol shouldn't be to hard to make since we already have soda cans etc. as for the coffee.. those could be planted the same way as tomato's/pumpkins for example.. crush them with a stone and mix in with (hot?) water to make coffee that gives you a small boost in (if it gets implemented) stamina I personally think with all the new stuff you guys are adding.. simple things like these would do wonders for the RP community DayZ has (DayZRP/[Falcon] DayZ SA Roleplay & Realism) it would make the game more realistic, it would also create new opportunities for players to go out and explore more thus interaction with the surroundings rather than rushing through buildings looking for a can of beans then leave.. regards, Tigermonk (member of [Falcon] DayZ SA Roleplay & Realism)

you can indeed drink alcohol.. only thing is.. has no effect on your system/character so that kinda sucks.. the kvass is beer I think.. but I'd think it's cool if they implement something like blurry vision after drinking several of those or message system/black outs if you drink like 10-15 of those cans

intergrated graphics.. you'll get 15 fps in elektro atm.. my suggestion..build your own pc.. or have someone build it for you.. you're paying for a brand (HP) and you'll get almost nothing in return.. as stated AND PROVEN Intel has the best chip on the market for games.. so I suggest going with intel.. intel core i5 will work just fine (just make sure it's a K edition!!!) so you can overclock it later on if needed
-
fact of the matter is... this 'engine' is crap to start with.. their trying to put so much stuff into this engine.. it was never designed for the work-load it's under.. and the reason why it 'likes' Nvidea and Intel.. is really simple actually.. biggest players on the market.. so if you make a game.. they'll be more than happy to support your game since you're only making it 'work well' on their product. on topic: most of the people planning on buying a new pc with overkill specs. don't.. just don't I'm running a watercooled Intel Core i5 4.2 ghz overclocked cpu with a geforce gtx 660TI.. the rendering on this game engine is just crap to be straight.. I've played Ryse: son of Rome on this pc everything on 'normal' settings still got me 45 fps (not tested on max) THATS a game that requires a beefy pc.. *check youtube for examples* dayz on the other hand.. is still under dev. and they could just end up scrapping this piece of shit engine and rendering system and create something entirely new.. that works 100 times better so for now.. having a overclocked i7 4690K running 5 ghz with 16 gigs of ram or more.. doesn't make any difference frame wise..

for some strange reason.. still unknown to me.. I'm no longer able to play DayZ since the last update, when I enter the serverlist it shows NO servers... in non of the tabs.. when I try to get back to main menu the game totally crashes..as I'm unable to close the entire application *even force kill in task manager!* I'm forced to reboot my entire pc to get it working propperly again any word on what might cause this? since the devs delayed this update for a week for more 'testing'one would expect (alpha build or not) after 2/3 weeks testing on exp. servers having solved most bugs and gamebreakers would be accomplished.. guesshaving stable and exp. running different systems.. doesnt work since the devs clearly can't guarantee a working product even AFTER extensive testing.. the last few build were FINE... now they once again implement something 'new' breaking stuff that was already working in the first place..I do hope they fix this problem sooner than later.. i'm not the only one having this problem.. but are prob. the first that actively respond to yet another screw up by the devs, wanting to implement 20 things at once without checking for comparability of their current code..

game no longer working after update 0.53.. freezes when trying to go back to main menu from server list
Tigermonk replied to Tigermonk's topic in Troubleshooting
my system: Gigabyte Z77-D3H mobo intel core i5 overclocked to 4.2 ghz Antec Kuhler 620 H2o watercooling kit 16 gigs of DDR3 1600 memory (corsair) (mem. modules are fine) nvidea geforce 660 TI 2 gigs vram 2 TB HDD by seagate (no problems found with it yet) Windows 7 64 bit OS so judging by your answer its not that relevant.. and I can't 'force' it to shutdown once I go into serverlist and exit it.. as long as I don't join any servers etc. just main menu is fine.. after I try to join a server (through search/remote search/join friend through steam) it crashes.. and won't let me force shutdown it.. trough task manager. -
game no longer working after update 0.53.. freezes when trying to go back to main menu from server list
Tigermonk replied to Tigermonk's topic in Troubleshooting
tried didn't work... still keeps freezing up for some reason.. and i'm pretty sure its not my ram modules doing something strange.. otherwise more games would be affected ;) like far cry 3 etc.. ram intensive games that won't stall unless your modules are starting to get faulty.. as noted in my first comment and last comment.. everything worked FINE until this last patch (0.53) now its beginning to freeze up etc. -
game no longer working after update 0.53.. freezes when trying to go back to main menu from server list
Tigermonk replied to Tigermonk's topic in Troubleshooting
that's the problem man... everything is up to date... havent had any problems since 0.31 came out.. everything (apart from the occasional 'dayz.exe stopped working') worked just fine before 0.53... so I don't know what their doing.. and if it was a hardware issue.. don't you think other games (more stable/heavy) than dayz would have bigger issues? BSODS etc. non of those occur. and virusses.. highly doubtful since I scan my pc almost 3 times a week with 3 different programs (malware/spyware/rootkits/virusses/worm and the lot) so it's probably the devs screwing up ;) since (when it crashes) i'm unable to close the application.. never had this before.. I was always able to force close the application in taskmanager.. -
-broadcast- hello dayz community, i've been playing dayz alot lately since the survival stuff hit the stable patch.. now that tents are around I plan on gathering more resources including meat *omnomnomnom* but the thing that hit me was. you can sharpen your axe and knifes with stones.. maybe that works fine in a pinch.. but maybe a sharpening tool? A.K.A. pocket sharpener -> http://amazonas.town.ie/products/18147 <- anyone else like that idea? I mean we all need a knife to hunt and gather.. or to open the can once your opener is ruined *again* so maybe thats an idea for a small tweak in the patch? same idea as the rock but it makes the blade worn/prestine this was just a brainstorm.. also.. starting fires with bandages/rags apart from the *use kindle with rags* there should be something like *use alcohol on prestine rags, to get soaked rags.. then use the rags with kindling.. light a match to it in rainy weather.. works like a charm!! -NLE- Tigermonk (medic/survivalist) out! -end broadcast-

Dayz Crashes when I access the server selection section/join game
Tigermonk posted a topic in Troubleshooting
hello, I have a question.. ever since the last update. my dayz tends to crash when I switch from main menu to the server select list etc. the list doesnt load and dayz stops responding. before this patch everything worked just fine.. so the patch is either the cause of the problem or something else related to the game. what i've done so far: Rebooted my pc, then tryed again.. game crashed again.. re-installed dayz on steam/restart steam tryed to join.. same result verified my game files after re-installation. still crashes when I switch from main menu screen to server select menu OR just press 'play' so im kinda out of options.. anyone have any idea? greetz, Tigermonk -
Dayz Crashes when I access the server selection section/join game
Tigermonk replied to Tigermonk's topic in Troubleshooting
I think you miss read my post... my computer CRASHES when I access the 'join game' etc. outside the main menu... BEFORE this patch everything worked FINE I seem to be (once again) the only member in our community who has this particular problem.. some have connection issues being kicked of games with 10/15 ping average but if this is a steam problem.. JohnDMarshall please explain how to put 32 bit overlays in steam.. in plain simple english please ;) -
Dayz Crashes when I access the server selection section/join game
Tigermonk replied to Tigermonk's topic in Troubleshooting
already did that.. running everything as administrator.. I note again: BEFORE the update my dayz worked just fine.. its already 'allowed' in my firewall so is steam.. so thats not the case.. there's something about this 'update' that messes things up.. since re-installing doesnt help.. and my ENTIRE system crashes *never happend before* and im UNABLE to 'close' dayz via task manager/force shutdown.. the game starts up fine.. I can click options etc. in the main menu.. but the moment I click on 'play' or change server.. no servers are shown.. nothing happens.. and when I try to switch tabs (remote control to favorites.. or from serverlist to favorites etc. it just freezes up, I go to task manager and I get the ingame cursor and about half my system just freezes, the game won't totally close.. the dayz program remains 'locked' in my start bar.. and is not closing.. the only way to force quit is to reboot my entire system. so thats not the problem either.. thanks for commenting anyway ;) -

I'll give you the fireaxe thats not realism indeed.. but the running... if rocket wants something to be real.. all he has to do is increase the heart attack risk.. not only from drinking 100 pepsi/cola cans but also *like many of us thought when it first came out* if you run from electro to svetlojarsk your heart will explode so to say... you'll just drop down on the spot and most likely die.. to bring the game 'speed' down.. and your added 'alpha' quote is a bit pointless.. because if EVERYTHING can still change.. what point is there in making them in the first place.. there won't be any 'drastic' changes to most of the stuff in game.. you think their going to totally REDO hunting/cooking/fireplaces after being delayed for MONTHES? doubt it.. if they pull those kind of stunts I'll be willing to lay down a bet they'll lose fans quicker then they gained after the word of a 'standalone' came out.. I know alot of people who are already irritated by the dev. phase taking so utterly long.. so I think those drastic changes, rather they'll make 'a few tweaks' -

well fact is.. if you want to do something named 'realism' then some of these things are killing the subject. I didnt say 'fight' this.. but I doubt you'll be able to do that in real life.. EVEN on mars or venus! ;) -

well thats a problem right there since brightness and gama are video options designed for people having trouble with their monitor... people tend to abuse the bug by setting it really high on servers so they can 'see' but seeing black and white is just a waste of time since your not using the game graphics to maximum ;) -

well their using an exploit so technically their hackers.. because they manipulate the system to do something its not designed to be doing.. so if its scripting/cheating that doesnt matter... scripts have to be writen to work.. that involves programming knowledge.. ask any 'programmer' thats a security expert.. what his first profession was.. I bet it was a 'hacker' ;) -

all these 'interviews' cause massive delays.. we all know that.. I doubt we are going to see hunting this upcoming week since they told us it would be the beginning of april.. we're almost half way.. no update released on topic. every 'interview' takes like a entire weekend.. if hunting comes out along with campfires etc. to stable I'll be a bit more optimistic. the longer this takes to 'fix' the more pessimistic I'll become and more sceptical.. its a long process... but the interviews are not helping speed things up.. the list of deadlines is slowly being moved one by one by one. -

the only thing I found out today, is that if I join exp. before the serverlist loads my dayz crashes along with half my pc since I can't shutdown dayz application (nope nor can I via taskmanager etc.) so as far as exp. go's I'll wait until there's a new patch on that before I play
