    and again.. we're on the same page bro... very good comment. I mean we can make all the lists we want.. (like I did with the money issue etc and time span/work done etc.) but a very long story short.. the devs have just been 'talking' and 'talking' and 'talking' about dayz and not putting out.. their roughly a year behind (beta in Q2 etc) its all on the dayz website.. I've even posted a link of all the stuff they wanted to have finished by 2015.. yes last year.. very tidy list of animals in Q1 this and this in Q2 this and this in Q3.. companion animals/predetors in Q4 its all on the main site. but as far as that goal... they're roughly 8 months behind on full announced features in X amount of time. so I hope after 0.60 they WTFU otherwise like you said.. they're going to lose their audience thus their cash flow (since their owned by Bohemia) thus their fat paychecks at the end of each month. it's as simple as that..

    you're actually saying the exact opposite of your comment all around.. you bash people for blaming the mods that their adding stuff we don't need creating more bugs.. but at the same time you're wondering about their dev speed atm. and how people can say (devs) we'll have beta in Q2... so wrap your head around ur own comment first before you bash people for telling the truth and dishing out some pent up frustration on the devs for being slowbro's in every stage of dev. while making promises, (maybe's) and HOPING they get shit done in set time lines beta was planned for Q4 2015... not Q2.. so I don't blame people for starting to wonder what in the flying crap their exactly doing all these months without big progress.. while they talk about 'guns and clothing' most of their blogs.. then make another statement that start with 'we hope' then mention a rendering engine in november.. hoping its done for testing by january.. then post pone it until start of march because 'maybe' guess what? its prob. going to be in april somewhere..

    all these games were NOT launched in 'alpha' and the people who made these games didn't go to every game show on the globe.. while having list upon list of 'we hope to finish etc. etc. in 2015' I guess you want more proof of that... coming right up :) I'd like to point out ahead of time: THIS was intended for 2015!! not 2016 proof: https://dayz.com/blog/dayz-moving-into-2015 further more... how many of those games are as over hyped and shown in trailer as DayZ. Apart from GTA V (please note my comment above DayZ has been in dev. since december 16th 2013! 2013!) so thats 2 years and 3 months.. (leaves them with 1 year and 8 months to complete the full game.) Elder scroll (SERIES) so not just one game! Fall Out Series (so not just one game!) guild wars.. ok legit nr 2. Diablo 3 (nobody expected another installment after 2 since 3 just sucks compared to the brilliance of 2. Deus-Ex (never even heard of that until it hit the shelf so please forgive me for not giving a shit about those 11+ years) and as for you saying Duke Nukem was a 'bad game' matter of opinion.. I enjoyed duke nuken 3D for a long time.. along with the doom games and quake games.. you're welcome

    They probably expected the transition to the new engine to go smoother then it has or something. To be honest though, in my humble opinion, if they can run around Chernarus and pick up stuff, then that is good enough for me... I've already played with 0 Infected pretty much from day 1 when I got the game. I don't even know what the standard DayZ is supposed to be I never played the mod... <-- found your problem mate... you have NO idea how the MOD is.. then you have NO idea what DayZ is... playing without zombies isn't something that belongs in DayZ standalone in the first place.. it should be zombie INFESTED... literally 1000's of them... but the engine can't handle 50 players + gear yet so let alone 1000's of extra zombies/wild life etc.

    like s3v3n said in the above post I quoted: the devs are making remark after remark about 'we'll finish it on time, we're ON schedule' but TBH their not.. I posted a ton of info in another topic - what have they roughly made 80.000.000 on sales alone (average price of 25 bucks) - what have they spend? 40.000.000 (dev. salary's/going places for promo's/giving dean his cut etc. etc. etc. - how much time has passed as of today (10th of march 2016) 3 years and 3 months (December 16th, 2013 (early alpha) - what have they done so far 30ish (full) patches - how many patches are given out in current time span dayz started with patch v0.28.113734 (16 Dec 2013) Current build: v0.59.131908 (04 Mar 2016) 38 patches in total (including hotfixes) since early alpha release december 16th 2013 - how many patches in how many months? at current pace: 1 every 3 months 4 (FULL) patches a year (not hotfixes) - est. time until full release at current speed 7 years +/- (1 patch every 3 months equals 4 patches per year) 0.60-1.0 (give/take) 25-30 patch versions 4x7=28 patches at current working speed. lets say bohemia wakes up and tells them to 'step it up' work time might be reduces to half so 3.5 years.. adding that to the already elapsed time: 3.5+3.3=6.8 years.

    larger numbers should be added as soon as possible.. that'll reduce all those trigger happy KoSers on NWA and hotspots like cherno.. now you randomly pick off 7-8 zombies at military on your own using nothing more then a 1911 or some swift footwork and an axe.. taking out 7 zombies with little to NO damage.. I bet that'll change once the ATC/barracks are populated by 10-20 zombies per area.. so maybe 50-60 zombies on NWA and over a 100 in the entire area of cherno.. that'll also give birth to new players in the private whitelist RP community of DayZ. zombie hunters.. then you'll have a legit reason to loot an base or barrack and walk out with a mosin 3 mags and 200 rounds of ammo. <-- example

[/side joke] on topic: the answer to your question lies with the engine optimization process. in order for the game to run - with good FPS - good looking environment - a lot of players around the map - lots of animals - massive hordes of zombies/walkers the engine need to be able to process all that's happening IN the game, this also includes zombie actions/path finding/sounds/damage profile most of these things are channeled through the rendering engine and game engine.. (correct me if i'm wrong) at this time, the game engine nor the rendering engine are remotely powerful enough to sustain overall performance (30 FPS minimum 40-60 FPS on average so adding a brick load of zombies in the game at this point would probably break in completely. with all the problems/more delays to follow after that happens. so long story short: the software is not yet up to the task of managing tons of zombies/actions/players and other activity's in the current version/installment of dayZ standalone. regards, tigermonk

    there are NO exp. servers active at the moment, because the devs haven't released the new update yet. so there are no exp. servers active.

    'when beta hits' looking at the dayz dev stats... that'll be a while... another what... 8-9 FULL patches (NOT HOTFIXES) like I've stated in another topic.. at current dev. speed (CURRENT) their providing 1 full patch every three months (0.57-0.58-0.59-0.60) in 12 months time... people are saying they'll speed up after 0.60.. but the devs also said we'll have 0.60 around march.. (guess what month it is) still no 0.60 in exp. branch (that could take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to hit exp.) then testing for several days... so maybe end or march 0.60 stable? so lets say they speed up after 0.60... 7 full patches until 'beta' that would still be at LEAST 7 months... so end of 2016 we 'might' have modding tools.. so I say again: 'around the corner' not in a million years mate.. https://dayz.com/ has an estimate (count the dots per version) on beta... https://dayz.com/blog/dayz-moving-into-2015 just saying...     at what point do you think modding is 'around the corner' that's a very bold thing to say... because once modding is added to the servers.. what do you think will happen to general development of the game... *small hint* that'll grind to a halt completely since the devs see the community make all their own stuff.. there are loads of players that can make NPC's/new cars/add in guns/static town/camps/bases you name it. dayz has enough empty space to make some great things on server side. but I don't think we'll see that anytime soon... maybe start of 2017 (so next year) but I highly doubt full modding will be in a patch like 0.65-0.75 maybe in 1.0-1.10 https://dayz.com/blog/status-report-01-mar-2016

    I don't know how long you've been playing dayz.. but even our great friend dean hall.... didn't say anything more then 'we hope or maybe' so NO there's at no point any mention of 'we might finish dayz standalone alpha in dec. 2016.. or jan 2017... they can't say anything related to when its finished otherwise their going to be spat out by the entire community for making promises they can't keep... right now their just saying 'we're hoping to finish update 0.60 AROUND march (so beginning/end of march) bt their just 'hoping' so nothing can be pinned on the devs for 'hoping somethings done'

    I both get your points.. but from where he's standing (madtommy) I can also understand... lets just look at some numbers and recent events.. average price DayZ standalone: 20-25 USD total sales: 3.2 million or something (last I checked) 3.200000x25=80.000.000 USD years of dev: 2 years 3 months! thats about 40.000,000/year:25 =1.6 million (if dayz has 25 people working on it) so all in all... if you cut the costs of dev. equipment etc. all the promo's their doing/trips with jets and such you're still looking at a game with over 40 weapons (half arent even used) a game not yet optimized in the most basic of things. 52 weeks in a year 45 workable weeks (weekends/holidays) -10 weeks of promotion at various game events leaves 35 weeks. 35:4=8.75 months about 1 major update every 3 months (yes that's about the speed their working on a full patch atm *0.59-0.60*) so thats 8.75:3=2.9 (so 3 for the round off) 3 updates per year... full game is 1.0 (brian hicks told us so) so that leaves 40 patches until 1.0 thats 3 patches every year (at current speed!) 40:3=13 YEARS to finish dayz at current rate... lets say bohemia finally gives them a burner for being slow.. that it'll still take 6-7 YEARS before finishing this game... (brian hicks also said) AFTER 1.0.. we'll support dayz for another 5 years... so thats 13 years in total.. there is NO way.. a game like dayz takes 13 YEARS to fully develop. NO way

    like you said above numerous times. 'dayz can NEVER be realistic' nope it can NEVER be... I've played on RP server where realism is god/king/queen still some people are just plain retards.. (throws flashbang in ur face, breaks ur legs...) then goes: what just happend? that wasn't me... MEH!! *wrong!* I like the idea of a base with 10 people you know in real life.. so if one decided to play: screw shit up because dayz!' you can punch him/her in the mouth the next time you see that person... in dayz that is very unlikely.. so building bases.. *yay* in a dayz senario/game/player base.. meh doubt that will ever work.. since every player with half a brain uses dayz map on his second screen.. or has 800 hours of dayz gameplay on steam so knows the map like the back of his hand... so what's the objective list? in true dayz fashion? - find water - find food - find M4/mosin/sks/SVD/AK etc. - find x amount of mags - find shitload of bullets - find full military gear/backpack - kill as much people as you can because shits and giggles.. so building bases/playing like there is dayz civ,? not in million years on about 99% of the servers. and now I hear all of you going: right on man.. but aren't you being overly stereotypical with your list.. no sadly I am not.. I've played on the falcon RP Dayz server. i've met numerous people in 5 months... what is the most common character story heard across the server. (ex-) military personal.. trained army sniper.. etc. etc. etc. so that explains why he/she knows where this and this and this army base is.. thus having the above list as gear. etc. etc. dayz realism? NOPE :D sadly.. not going to happen in a million years.. 'call of dayZ' is still going to have the upper hand in this one

    your rig isn't the issue.. dayz itself and its game engine are the issue.. non optimized.. so it doesnt matter if you have a 800 dollar rig or a 100.000 dollar rig.. game isnt optimized in anyway and will remain so until at least beta ;) so.... mi advice.. don't play and expect good preformance from ur machine.. before its even remotely finished *the game that is*

    Computers players in DayZ?

    I think this community has WAY bigger brains then some small group of 30 devs with limited time... tight budgets and a dev studio breathing down their necks (in the very end) to finish this game... it's true that making a moving AI will not be easy.. but I think there will be some bright minds in dayz com. that could take the walking from the char. engine and transfer that to AI players.. sure it won't be like dayz epoch, where groups of bandit AI roam the heli crashes.. but it still doesn't strike me.. how a map as Hugh as chernarus.. doesnt have more than 50 active living things (players) on it. like people stated.. chance of 0.01% running into people when you roam the smaller town (especially up north) apart from the military zombies at bases... there are NO people alive what so ever and still.. should the entirety of chernarus be 'infected' shouldnt there be like what.. 50.000 zombies.. about 1/20 of that on NWA? and 1/20 on Airstrip.. all in all the servers are empty and 1000-3000 zombies in a game map the size of Luxembourg isn't realistic.. TWD anyone? anyone?! how many zombies does that have... sure thats the entire US.. but just for comparison,,, with everything thats happend.. burned out/banged up trucks along the roads.. and cars.. where are all these people?! all dead? highly unlikely.. all evaced? highly unlikely so.. some random survivors hiding in a house.. or wandering through the woods would certainly get my heart racing even more... it might be a player... it might be AI.. you wouldn't know! AI doesn't pack a full gear and a mosin with 300 rounds.. but it could pack a baseball bat or hockey stick for defense.. come on people... this is dayZ.. this is *y*our story! think outside the box.. the least we can do if the devs aren't going to in the long run.

    Spicing up gameplay with the Survivor Challenge

    well we were not RPing so we didnt have story script of a deranged person we encounter.. its just shoot to kill and survive while building a camp... so most of us were not 'trigger happy' we played most of our team ops in the mod.. so that was purely arma, army-style missions.. code language included xD (our clan back then was actually made up out of actual military personal or trainees and hobby survivalists/preppers) so that was mostly our role we didnt have 'trigger happy people' but we had one or two that would just vanish into thin air.. only to be found 400 meter in front of us.. taking a detour and picking off walkers along the way to clear a spot for our snipers xD
