I think you lack the knowledge of game design in general.. don't get me wrong.. the idea is good.. but MORE stuff (zombies) on the server.. will NOT be a boost in FPS... it will decrease since the game engine has more stuff to do.. and in current build.. (even with the new rendering engine coming in 3-4 weeks) the overal power will not be big enough to host such abundant resources on the server. and 'randomized' is another game mechanical part that could 'break' I think the devs will not (at least not until 1.0) incorp. something like this into the game, for the simple fact that it puts to much strain on the game.. AND they'd have to modify that concept from the mod. and that in turn could takes several WEEKS at least. so long story short: cute idea, but probably to complex/time consuming to put into the game. since their looking for other ways to put hordes in the game already (did you see the latest video on the dev channel?)

    gamemaster/freelance quartermaster/tyrant... it's all the same YOU are controlling what they're getting.. YOU set the 'standard' for the fact people get anything or not... it doesn't matter if you 'give free hatchbacks or not' you're hoarding the shit out of everything... ;) that's my point. and this 'so called CLE... what a joke.. half the time I can't find stuff in servers (I play on private servers mostly) because all the experiences I've had on public are KoS so that's in no way realistic.. all that did for me was distrust people even more.. every single time.. being ripped off isn't my problem... being robbed isn't my problem.. just seeing people and getting shot to shit without interaction is my problem. since that was the only interaction I got mostly on public.. stopped playing on public from patch 0.45 and up, cause I got tired of the CALL OF dayZ 12 yo douchnoobs that are loot horny..
  3. if you want to make stuff like this.. wait for the SA to hit mod tools patch... then there will be tons of people that show how good they are at scripting.. you'd need WAAAAAAY more zombies.. even in the mod... let alone in the SA... going to NWA should be a very dangerous last resort.. 100 zombies around de ATC etc. etc. in the hangars.. right now? those 10 zombies at the entire NWA are dealt with in minutes (on foot) plus the fact that the mod is about as optimized as a drunk cow...

    that would certainly be a good thing.. since we're actually in a place very close to russia (there are like 3 AK's for every person in russia) so the infected carrying 'standard' weapons like AK's or small caliber pistols.. should also make players less 'loot horny' when they spot a fully geared player.. to stick m up for his AK/AKM since.. yeah! that's what everyone wants right an AKM with 20.000 rounds they will never be able to stash.. or carry (I hate loot hoarders for that reason among others) if infected carry guns or ammo on them.. it would be logic (like the mod) to kill them.. or civilians that carry a can of pipsi or baked beans. (like they did in the mod) and i'm not saying they should always carry stuff.. but a 10% drop chance or something... why? because then you're creating a whole new chapter/occupation in the game.. 'zombie hunters' that kill zombies for the food/ammo so they can trade it for med supplies or something..actually creating 'trade-economy' in dayz again.

    also... having guns that are partially loaded IS realistic.. these 'infected' are actual people.. that tried to fend off the decease. so he fires 10 shots gets bitten.. turns.. leaves the gun.. ammo/clip.scrope attached.. so you'll find actual guns with ammo in them.

'I'll just save keep all these cars/guns on the server so IF you need anything.. you can get on your knees and beg for them.. MAAAAAYBE if I like you.. you'll get that AK74. with acog scope etc. etc.' ^ classic example of a tyranny but going back on topic... you probably missred my entire post (its ok.. more people tend to do that, drawing their own conclusions) all I was actually saying.. was for the guy that SERVER HOPS.. to find .308 cause he's to fking lazy to actually PLAY the game and walk/drive around through towns... exposing himself to danger as he does so.. that's the problem with 'public' servers.. you just hop military bases (of empty servers ofc!) loot the place... go back to your own car.. stuff the guns/ammo inside.. rinse and repeat... yes that's a playstyle as well but one that is very much hated (by people like myself) that go play on a public server.. once in a while.. only to find NO gear what so ever because loot whores have totally stripped the military bases through server hopping.. HOARDING is OK... AS LONG as you do it ON your current server... because like you said: if they find my camp.. and loot it.. tough luck... shit happens... but that was NOT what I was talking about.. I was talking about SERVER HOPPERS that loot whore 'because they need 20.000 rounds of ammo.. 4 SVD's/5 FN FALS etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

    the point of dayz is 'telling your story' if you don't have the patience to even collect certain things like 308's.. and resort to server hopping... then dayZ is clearly NOT the game for you... there's this game called CS:GO pick your load out and fire away... but don't screw over the other players, that actually put in work to finding their stuff by just being a loot whore snatching every 308 on all the servers so you can have a camp with 20 tents filled with ammo and 308 rnds.

    this is called DayZ... people are kinda fed up with it atm.. so A LOT of players simply put in to the sidelines and don't play.. resulting in less active members... I see the same in my current community... 100 active players.. average server occupation of 10-12... as soon as they fix all these broken/half dead features and make the game run better.. chances are people will come back to the game... but only time will tell ;)

    still makes NO sense crying about the game menu mechanics because some Dbag sees you running across NWA in your fully decked gear.. proceeds to put a bullet in ur dome 'because he has NV' which he hasnt.. just screwed up game settings.. that are in NO way related to the games performance.. just how it looks.

    just for the record... this is the internet.. nobody CARES... most people do as they please.. and play as they see fit.. there's NO use in making posts like these.. explaining what an 'exploit' is... its meaning/reason.. because 'nobody gives a flying turd... in short: people are people.. and people will take EVERY advantage they can.. good or bad.. clean or dirty... thats how we've survived for this long.. so just saying.. if people use gamma to make a 'make-shift' pair of NV goggles... let them... if they ruin your game.. don't play with them... you know names/servers this happens on? DONT play there... go someplace else... no use crying bout it on the forums.. because 'it happens' and there isn't a dang thing you can do about that...

    ^ like stated above... + the fact that the NEW rendering engine (I hope for your sake you've seen it in the 4 vids on the forums!) has a new day/night module... better graphics... in the DX 9... black and white is the 'night' sky... in the new mod.. it just gets 'darker' but it retains its colors.. so NO need to fiddle with your gamma or whatever.. if you can't see jack in the new 0.60... I suggest you visit the Eye doc. ASAP... since in real life.. when it gets dark.. you see about as much as you see in the new 0.60 update (maybe even a bit less) so will the update improve the night cycle YES... will the new update need gamma tweaks.. NO very doubtful it will...

    who says that stick is a one hit wonder... this isn't TWD like that guy who made this topic claims.. NO stick in dayz is... if it was.. I would just get an ashwood stick and sweep a military camp in no time... just saying.. i've never said 'guns' are a 'fundamental asset' because I hate the amount of guns in game... 40+ guns... 50% is NEVER used by players... WO1 P1 pistol? really? really?! NO.... i've stated this on the forums many many times over... the devs should focus MORE on getting this game to 'work' in the first place.. rather than adding gun after gun after gun after gun.. with all its time consuming 'load mechanisms/animations/gun sounds etc.' because if half the guns arent even used.. why are they IN the game... LOL

    why would you need special tools? there's a broom in the game already (if im not mistaken) broom+saw=broom (stick) done.. you have youself a bo-staff like idea... that's not an entirely new weapon.. since morgans weapon is a solid stick and not something glued together or whatever... this wouldn't be 'difficult' to make for the devs.. all they need to do is BIND an action to saw+broomstick.. just like rags+sticks= splint. it would drastically reduce the amount of ammo/firearms needed.. thus the KoS rate+bandit shoot outs for your gear. PLUS the fact that at the moment... the melee mechanics are just shit... zombie gets 3 hits.. you get one.. it's about as fluid as a piece of wood.. should this be changed.. so the hits are almost realtime (mouse click is hit) only then will melee weapons become popular again. ^ @therandomredstone 'fundamental aspects' as in what? more guns? we don't NEED more guns 40+ guns is enough if you ask me... and 'overused' how/why? and you think in the current build 'fal' 'sks' 'SVD' and the upcoming snipers/big machineguns will NOT be overused... sorry to burst ur bubble but heck yeah they will... ever tried walking on NWA with a fal? instantly get your head blown off by some 12 yo kid 'who wants it' LOL... so 'over use' of a 'stick' as you call it... highly DOUBT IT... why? because most people are still scared shitless to come into close contact with players.. when their fully geared.. you won't see a fully geared person randomly walking on the road.. without some form of MP5/SKS/Scorpion/glock 19/fal... NO chance in hell.. most certainly not with 'just a staff/stick'
  21. what happens to the public servers? The Public servers are supported by the SPs as we know, not by BI (some folk call them "official" servers here in SA) That's not the way it was under DayZ Mod, when there were no "public" servers. ^ well you're answering your own question right here.. 'public KoS' servers will probably fade out.. and more private servers will be added... banding people that want to actually PLAY dayZ instead of 'Call of DayZ' on private servers... so server hopping for gear is no longer an issue/ cheating by combat logging/relogging on another server, move to get advantage/rejoining combat is NO longer an issue.. and the servers.. well if BI cares about its clients.. they'll figure something out with valve or something to keep their servers running.. otherwise there will be enough options of big server providers to supply server spaces/slots as long as demand is high enough for them.. that wouldn't be the problem either.. the public server will be for players that enjoy KoS style playing.. (since thats what most publics do) and the people that enjoy more interaction/RP style gaming.. will join private servers (this is already the case: DAYZ RP/Falcon RP/Saga RP/freedom RP)
  22. dynamic events.. spells pure chaos because dynamic things 'move' so its's probably static you're after.. and 'camps' in dayZ SA... nope not like we had.. (we build woodbury city from twd (looked like it.. complete with wall around it) if you flew over it or came close to it.. you'd hear the governor's voice: WELCOME to woodburry! scares the living daylight out of you first time :P great fun. but dynamic events such as crashed planes/trains? 'plus as the OP if this topic said......' unpredictable game... hmmm 'I would want zombie hordes to move from town to town (good idea), that would keep players on their toes... not massive groups (like twd) of 300 zombies.. but just groups of 5 (total of 100, so 20 places on that map *large cities) that have small bands of zombies roaming around ' ^ you didn't see that one coming I suppose.. being a fresh spawn on the coast.. while 10 zombies roam 50 meters away from you.. or zombies in the woods.. and not just ONE straggler.. no dozens... like the wolves..
  24. well this depends... if DayZ has enough to offer... and people can make their server more interesting... people will pop-by regardless.. I've been in a community in the mod.. we had our own server *public* before de SA... we modded our server... how many people on? 40-45 each night.. after SA we closed our server, because the community split up.. so the funds dried up.. other than that.. our mod files are still stored somewhere on a computer.. and we're going to implement them into SA again.. as soon as we're allowed.. making mods is dependent on WHAT mods you make... I mean if you're a loot horny person... making 10 extra military camps on the server so you can hord loot from 15 different high value places.. that becomes boring really quickly.. we've had camp mods on the server.. we flew across the server with a map on 2nd screen.. looking for places that didn't have anything (just green fields in the middle of nowhere without cities within 2-3 miles) then mark those areas and mod a small 'camp' there like that summer camp near GM we all know that right? those kinds of things.. before svetlojarsk was a big ass city.. we modded a shed/tripod and a campfire there.. you could light.. and fish (fun fact the shed actually spawned a zombie xD) long story short... if you make several 'small camps' on places where normally nobody goes (edge of the map) and you find a prebuild camp/some houses there.. OF the grid.. instead of a '10 civilian tents' camp.. that triggers your exploration sensation.. 'WOW there's a camp here with a train cart/campfire and some rubbish..' that would make a good 'off the grid' stash site..

    I would like to see zombies push the player on the ground, they charge at you and then jump on you, you can push them off by clicking left mouse button for awhile (or a friend can shoot him off you) but if you dont theyll eat you up. (that sounds good enough as another option to 'slow down the game') I would like to see zombies break your arms waaaaay easier, I would like to see them zigzag at you so youre harder to hit (zigzag/cross leg is a military style walk.. to tactics... NOPE zombies are DUMB!/BASIC!/non-tactical (poor eye sight/low stamina so zigzag is more energy consuming thus impractical) I would like to see them crouch and make less sound at night (because theyre eyes arent that good, look around with their head like a crazed chicken) (partially agree) 'making less sound' also tactical since zombies only make sound on contact in current build. is also tactical.. the crouched part... would only be logic like it was in the mod.. they run crouched (since that's their starting position or final position after having something broken) crouched run should be slower. BUT harder to spot in grass fields/at night from long range I would like zombies eat up dead bodies, slowly ruining the gear on the body this would be something that could work... so people killed by zombies don't become instant targets of body looters/gear horders I would like to see zombies break legs but only if they attack you in numbers. so why only in numbers.. that's the same thing as breaking an arm.. 1 zombie (military) is strong enough to do that prob. maybe the crouched zombies I said from the mod.. break ur legs (lower to the ground etc) and the others break your arms/make you bleed more.. I would like to see the ability to cut up a zombie and put blood on your clothes so they wont see you (as long as you dont run or carry a gun) to much inspired by TWD.. + what good would that do? you can spot a player from a zombie.. if you're not carrying a gun, you're an instant target for groups. so NOPE with the risk of getting diseases (that are either hard to cure or not to cure) 'harder to cure' maybe... 'impossible to cure' LOL that would be the nail in the coffin for this game all together.. if you have 70+ zombies in a town.. how big is your chance or NOT being hit... very very very small.. even if that 'decease' only has a transfer rate of 0.2% that means.. every 500 hits.. a person gets sick (500x0.2=100%) with hordes of zombies... that would mean (in RP standards) a person dies every 2-3 weeks because his decease wasn't curable I would like to see zombies eating dead zombie bodies, I would like to see flies around zombie and player dead bodies. ask the devs for these things.. but their a small 'visual enhancement' and probably on the bottom of their 'to-do' list.. as large as the bible itself so.. meh..doubtful I would want zombie hordes to move from town to town (good idea), that would keep players on their toes... not massive groups (like twd) of 300 zombies.. but just groups of 5 (total of 100, so 20 places on that map *large cities) that have small bands of zombies roaming around
