all of this stuff (including the rendering system we've been waiting for almost 5 months) is a work in progress and subject too change.. so maybe in 2-3 updates (about 1 year) it'll be working better.. lets hope so at least

I'll post the first comment than shall I? its because this isn't dayz related.. but rather hardware related.. and most 12-15 yo juppies on this forum don't bother with the 2000 USD pc daddy bought for them.. on topic: the difference is indeed there.. I've been running the same setup/specs/game settings as .59, and my CPU load has gone up a bit as well.. max temp on .59 was around 55-56 Celsius (or 127-130 Fahrenheit) max temp on .60 is around 61-63 Celsius (or 140-144 Fahrenheit) so yes, the load on the CPU has gone up a bit.. but the performance (overall) is impressive I went from 21 FPS to about 35-50 FPS in towns and city's like zelonogorsk/pustoshka/lopatino 43 FPS to about 72-91 FPS in Mishkino tents and other 'wilderness' areas so about a 75% gain overall.. compared to 4 degrees C in temp rise..

very well said! in most survival scenarios: -shelter - clean water - food - basic weapon - good clothing is the way to go.. in terms of 'prioritize your to-do list' in any other situation: - bullets - firearms (of any kind) - medication/drugs in general - tabacco - water - food - clothing is the way things works in terms of value.. so like you said: 'never too early to teach people that maybe bullets are too valuable to spray at respawns' BECAUSE they really are!! certainly the non-russian weapon supply should be ultra rare.. so finding an M4A1 or an M16A is like finding the holy grail.. finding 5.56 nato rnds? you've just been struck by lightning twice.. and survived type of lucky! 7.62x39 should be a bit more available because that's the main ammo type for the most abundant weapon in the world (AK-47/74) 5.45 should also be pretty doable if you know where to look because this gun is also native to chernarus/russian forces (AKM) 9mm should be doable but only if you know where to look. 45 ACP should be rare because most of the guns this goes into aren't native to the country of Chernarus (winchester/remmington are US build) 5.56 as stated above.. should be so rare that if you FIND them.. you can barter them for anything you want, about the same as a diamond would be or gold ^ long story short: US based weapons and ammo should be very very very rare USSR style weapons should be doable if you know where to look as for the ammo types? US based should almost be non-existent (a 1:500.000 chance or something) USSR based should be pretty easy to find after restarts. very common ammo types should be fairly easy to find because of wide spread use around the world. (.45 acp/9mm) types of ammo that are not commonly used should be a pain to find. (.22/.357/.308/flares) -
this is a topic that's not even worth making.. the amount of heat that brings.. pfffff xD the clear logic of this town not having ANY english street names whatsoever.. either: forces you to cheat (out of game map) have no life and learn the entire map by heart (every road/mountain/hill/building/patch of forest learn cherno-russian/cyrillic neither of these 3 options appeal to me if I'm being honest here xD

all in all.. the game will take a few more years to finish.. (even after 1.0, something was mentioned by a certain person called brian hicks) that they'll support dev. of dayz for another 5 YEARS after 1.0 is released.. the biggest flaw the devs have made (for a very good reason) was thinking they'd force this over in a year (there are actual dev. notes of 2015 that say december 2015 final game) guess thats not working out that well for them.. but as far as I can see on the forums lately.. the die-hard support with the massive karma boosts are the only one's sticking up for this game while others are slowly learning that 7-10 years of dev. is sadly what dayz will become over time. they're trying to jam a million things into 1 year.. working on 50 things at once.. while the community is asking them for things that can be worked on non the less.. and are WAY more important than 20 new weapons or 10 sets of new clothing. - MORE zombies - MORE wildlife - WORKING vehicles - MORE FPS (solved) - better medical system - facial hair/time scale/aging (being worked on?) it's time to set a priority, or a target list of what they want finished first. apposed to the last few months 0.60 is now entering month 6 or 7, starting from when it was first mentioned until now its been in exp. for almost 2 months (with over 200 bugs reported by the community) so considering the slowest game dev. in history.. maybe so... but with very legit reason (if we're told to believe) long story short: to fix this constant issue of topic being posted with labels as: when is 0.60 going live/where is 0.60 at/how much longer the best thing for the devs to do.. is finish what their working on now.. after they've done that.. prioritize what they want. having a full team working on 1 or 2 things.. is better than having 40 people working on 100 things.

5.8 K square is a massive mountain.. that wouldn't be a good thing in dayz imo.. not only does it take up a large amount of map space.. since the map is around 11 by 13.8 K in total.. where would you plant a mountain 1/4 the size of the map? where?!? and why? a better option would be: a crater somewhere up north.. with mountain like terrain *like we already have up north* and within that crater you build a military base or something else that's a special place to go for. they talked about underground terrain a while back. why not build an underground bunker structure in that crater.. with helicopter hangars with the rock formations of svetlojarsk around them. and 1 access road. (like green mountain has)

that is very true... increase the spawn rate of canteens/bottles a tiny bit (say 5% on the entire server) but decrease the canned food with like 50%.. what good does this do? it get players moving because: less/no food in towns will force people to think on their feet it makes the game more interactive (hunting/fishing/trapping etc. it slows the game pace down (because you can't run at a deer with your AKM and expect to have 20 pounds of deer steak laying infront of you in seconds.. (stealth/tactics are required) it makes for more danger, because now everyone WILL fight for that can of beans (for legit reasons, not just shits and giggles, we robbed a freshy in cherno because we're fully geared) it shows that people actually know a thing or two about survival in general. my best bet? the 12 yo kid will grow tired of sitting around a campfire for an hour trying to cook 20 steaks for all his mates while the seasoned veteran players take all the time they need, building a base/guarding the perimeter/handing out jobs to people <- like they would should this be a real life situation 1 person collects firewood 2 people hunt for deer/pigs/chickens/rabbits/cows 3 people guard the fort (guard duty) 4 people do perimeter control checks every 10-15 min or so congratulations you're running a small community, in a very harsh and unforgiving environment, congratulations you're actually surviving/having fun with your friends that'll last you a whole lot longer than emptying 4 drum mags each on NWA and then starting over when you get your head blown off. less easy accessible food.. and the food that IS easy to find? guarded by about 100 zombies in a city (like elektro) or 20 zombies in a village (like gorka) want food? be prepared to fight for it.. want access to that well? be prepared to fight for it! cya'll in cherno folks happy hunting and goodluck surviving -

'surviving off the land, and setting yourself up for sustained survival through creating camps, and living off of renewable resources should be just as viable. then we'll first NEED these renewable resources? I'm not talking about tomato patches a mile long and 6 miles wide.. or pumpkin patches 3 hectares wide.. wildlife, meat is one of the key survival (protein) foods you'll need in real life.. so should be the case in dayz, the way the system works now. Energy vs effort vs draining of those stats.. is a little out of wack.. 3 liters of water gone within 2 hours? 3 cans of beans (most of those cans are 2 person meals) gone within a matter of hours? you're burning through reserves like NO tomorrow.. so there should be plenty of wild life to shoot and cook for steaks.. or beef. I know this might come in later patches (due to server stability) but if you guys are really serious about the whole 'survival' thing in dayz.. that should be one of the main priority's from now on.. getting more elements (zombies/wildlife/eatable plants/fruit in the game, so people actually have a reason to go further inland. having 20 cans of baked beans on hand in elektro or cherno isn't going to make people go in land.. because effort vs reward. why run/walk all the way to vavilovo or severograd, if cherno apartments yield enough food for 2 full days? and every server restart this cycle repeats itself? I know this all requires components like game/rendering engine etc. etc. working in complete harmony, but as things are now (5 cows/3 deer/2 boar/100 chickens.. that will not sustain a population of 10-15 people for weeks when camps/establishments/modded camps come into play. regards, tigermonk -

the entire idea about dayz in recent patches WAS the realistic feature (bullet drop/recoil aspect of things) so the guns felt more 'real' and less like a plastic BB gun with 0 recoil/sway/whatever so Never compare it to "real-life". <- that was the WHOLE point the devs are trying to make.. with all the realism/survival aspects their putting in the game to begin with

that's just dayz logic... if this game was anywhere near 'real impact' even a stray M4 or .22 from 100 meters would screw you up (look at arma 3) one well aimed shot and your 'down' so yeah.. 'he just say's "ouch", I hit him - (blood) - BUT he goes on lifting his gun and moving just the same as he was already, perfectly OK, like the impact didn't strike on his body at all, he's doesn't even hesitate. (dude doesn't even blink - that would take some nerve IRL, heh )' is just dayz being itself.. your either 'dead' or your in serious pain (not even able to lift your gun let alone 'shoot'

indeed it would be.. 'rifle/butstock thrust' (maybe just from behind or crouched OR to a kneeling/downed player) to 'knock them out' not kill them.. cause thats what happens in the real world.. you don't die from a single but stock strike to the face.. just puts your lights out.

I don't see how that 'firing shotgun in real life' has anything to do with dayz.. for starters... and as to 'fear' the shotgun.. I don't fear any weapon in dayz... I just pitty the screamers (like yourself) that wield them.. KoS in general (IMO) should go and play call of duty and such.. see how well you fair with your 'shotgun' skills.. lol as for the hysterical screaming.. really dude? really? what are you guys? 13? I know people get really excited when you 'kill' somebody.. but just envision doing this in real life.. this hardly ever happens in dayz... just for the record... you got off lucky man... even on RP servers this is very very rare nowadays.. since everyone is a bandit.. they'll just steal all your shit and leave you for the dogs... (been there several times) so my hats off to you sir, but actually trusting people... cause I don't anymore.. people are people.. and people are monkeys with a enlarged brain..

base building will likely be added when easter and Xmas are on the same day... (ha-ha) no for real.. that might not be added until 0.65... you've seen how long this patch is taking.. I bet the base building (if they want to pull this off as big as they said in the last status update (look around on the forum) that'll take its sweet time.. so don't expect that anytime soon. 0.65 at the very least before we even remotely see that appearing

If BI would surprise us with a brand new map in the final version, where should it be located?

it's no surprise, they already said that they would make a new map, but after the product hits 1.0 and in the 5 year support which they promised. i for one like it to be in a modern country based on america, probably Texas, meh i dont know. i like the environment in TWD so something like that. the keyword here is being a modern country with big cities and some countries. you pal, have NO idea what early access/alpha etc etc. stands for in this regard.. 'they promised.' is something they can revert back within SECONDS if things don't turn out the way they 'planned' so don't get your hopes up TO high.. you might be dissapointed.. there was SO much stuff 'announced' for 0.60 or at least 'we should be able to do this' and guess what 'didn't happen' but brain.. you TOLD us '....' brian hicks: did I? no I didn't ;) (smiley face) we 'estimated' that it 'would' be possible.. turns out.. it wasn't (names list of 'blockers') so this will be 'moved' towards the 'future' patches (0.61/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9?) long story short 'they already said' and 'which they promised' isn't something I'd bet my life on if I were you. cause 'I promise you' they'll either post pone it.. or it won't happen AT all... as for 'the new map' idea... fun fantasy.. but if you put in a new map.. just make a quick list of what you would have to change.. - all the artwork/changes to all the town/wilderness area's would ALL be for nothing.. (waste of time) - zombie path finding? (already fixed *for the most part*) would all be for nothing (waste of time) - item spawns? ^ same concept - 'optimization' (one of the current blockers!) would ALL be for nothing, because 'why optimize a map that you'll toss after 1.0 release? (waste of time) - all the animation/map design teams work would be for nothing (did I mention the 'waste of time yet?') SO NOPE... NOT going to happen.. and 'thats a promise' -
I would have liked it if they talked about *another* over-hyped thing.. dynamic weather.. and actually had the server show some... since they've talked about the simul-weather program for a while now.. how their implementing that into dayz.. for dynamic weather *rain/fog/snow?/blistering heat.. so clothing actually becomes an issue.. if you run up north wearing full ttsko.. you'll probably faint due to heat stroke... or freeze your ass off if you're running to elektro in the pooring rain wearing only a shirt and canvas pants. the wall climbing zombies are nice and all.. and the *second* new UI is nice.. but apart from that.. I haven't seen that much 'wow' factor for 5-6 months of work (not knowing how the frames are going to be in stable/did they make the 75-100% improvement?) for me personally all this stream did was create more confusion/questions then bring some light to the matter... let's be honest here.. (1/3-1/2) of the stuff they said 'could' be in the 0.60 build (after hyping it since january!) -> DayZ - Predators Teaser Footage door DayZDevTeam 4 months ago ^ this vid.. and it's not there at all.. and there are a number of other things that didn't make the cut.. I've watched over an hour of brain and that black dude.. playing dayz.. 'trying' to survive.. and almost dying of starvation/bleeding out. but for the most part... MEH... dissapointment (again) so I'll check back in a month or 6 people :)
