I was able to swap the wooden ak handguard off my AKM to a handguard rail, but it was damaged. now i found a pristine one and cant seem to swap them out. this has happened to me with all of the other ak guns has anyone else having issues like this?

i feel like the guy you were shooting at at first was a bit too quick to be able to get behind you like that. you finished shooting at him at 48 seconds, then at 1.02 he comes from behind you almost runs past you and doesnt even shoot you. thats what made me think it was 2 different guys.

that wasnt sneaky? you got lucky and killed the first dude and got super lucky the second guy was a terrible aim and you didnt ruin all his gear.

this is why I hunt the hunters, i go out and kill those who prey upon others for sport.

vehicles are coming. but definitely needs a higher ratio of bikes vs vehicles, and even higher amount of cars vs the military trucks

so, finally came down from the mountains to interact with people. met a few people in game and we became friends. we jumped in a private server in .57 and all spawned in the Elektro area. surprisingly for a high pop, the 'bathroom' building aka the loot pile buildings hadnt been looted and the 3 of us were geared up pretty quickly. i got myself a sawn off shotgun with ammo. so we wandered around taking on fresh spawns who tried to rob us. we ended up bumping into another geared player north of the police station, and i immediately ran right and got behind him just in case (glad i did) my friends try to get a look at him but he ducks behind a 2 story building and pulls his gun out. they duck behind a wall and i get in about 5 feet from this guy as he is aiming at the wall my friends are at. i shoot the first round and miss him as he side steps, but the next shot goes right into his head. DEAD. we celebrate and loot him. no joke, this guy had a sword, a mace in his back pack, a winchester in his hands, and a SVD mag. we thought he must be some sort of collector of rare items. later on the server went all buggy as a group of about 5 or 6 people (who all seemed to be working together) moved into the area, including 2 guys in a truck who ran point and drew attention and generally made a lot of noise. we had gone east and ended up at that tin building next to sniper hill when we started taking fire from a sniper. i went left to get behind the hill but i had to log off because my hands had glitched and i couldnt pick up anything (including my guns, by this time i had an AKM) so i logged out and in at the small house on the hill and went in search of the sniper. my one friend was able to find him and kill him before i got there, but we lost his body(or he got away) we immediatly began to take fire from it seemed like every direction, but mostly from the docks. this was when the truck made its appearance and killed friend #1. friend 2 ran for cover and worked his way to the docks to take out whoever was doing a lot of shooting. i stayed on the hill to keep eyes on the situation, but when he went down by the cement wall, i made my way to the docks. friend #2 respawned very close by and got back to his body and managed to kill the guy looting his corpse with a baseball bat but got killed in the process by another shooter. i got there and shot up another geared player while getting hit from a few directions (the truck was driving all over the place making it hard to know what was going on. i got a look at a guy coming from the south west out of elektro and waited for him, i hit him with my akm and took fire from behind as another geared guy appears from the east! my legs get broken in the process and i shoot at him and he ducks for cover. i reload and bandage as fast as i can and lay in wait, probably looking spastic as im sitting in a corner looking back and forth watching for 2 diferent guys. the one on the right pops his head out and i unload at his direction and probably only hit him once with my 30 round mag. i switch to my cr75 i had picked up and put 3 or 4 shots into him before he(or the other guy) hits me and knocks me unconscious. they immediately shoot me in the head and end the craziest shoot out i have been in in months. we all somehow get a berenzino spawn and set about fighting fresh spawns for cans of beans and beating one guy to death with a hockey stick and a shovel. we loot him only to get really buggy gear, it was so bad we began to think he had duped gear because everything else worked fine, just the stuff we took from him (longhorn, fireaxe, can opener and bandages) the server shut off suddenly and we ended the night on kind of a low point.

the Makarovs are a known issue. (and my personal biggest annoyance) if you are new to all this, you dont know all the best places. yes there are piles. its a bug and its known. yes stuff is random, its also a bug that was a fix to the whole no-food-is-spawning-at-all problem. just wait till you see a the piles at the 'Bathroom' buildings ( i call them guard buildings cause only military loot spawns there) http://i.imgur.com/0dqkAZu.jpg you literally have to check Every. Single. Building. for stuff, that way you will learn where stuff spawns. use the standalone Map for help. (its not always up to date so dont hate me if its not correct) also, ive never found a Winchester, so you are not alone. welcome to the DayZ forums. dont feed the trolls

ah, the steam overlay death. yea you have to change that soon, got killed that way a week or 2 ago.

its probably me overthinking it, but i swear i hear voices thrown into the ambient sounds mix. 0_o and i mean like on empty servers. the crashing shut doors and gates annoys the heck out of me. i get the whole wind on a chain fence, but its a little overdone. the eating sounds are also a bit overdone, buts its so that other people can hear you eating. munch munch y'all :beans:

so I logged in on a private server without realizing it. but figured it was good for me to try to survive with a fresh spawn since my geared character has been alive for a month or two now. I start off in Solnichniy and loot what i can, heading north I find not much. i end up making a stone knife and hand drill kit to start a fire ( i got wet from making the stone knife from a water glitch) so that was pretty cool for me, to be able to literally live off the land and survive. somewhere i picked up a wood axe and starting searching for burlap to make a backpack. by this time i was able to find 3 apples (took forever) got myself a wool sweater and then to make myself look less intimidating, a black checkered cap. makes me look like a farmer. found a mosin in a barn, so maybe not. i get to benenzino and loot the western section, guard house, hospital, etc and head into the city proper. I hear a single rifle shot far to the north and attempt to hide myself from the fire station, i got another guard shack loot finding a vest, boot, combat knife, I trade out the mosin for an AKM and get a 30rd mag, and pick up Binoculars and scope the fire tower out. nothing. then i hear another single shot, sounds like a mosin. north of the station and slightly center of town. i stick to the lumber mill area and switch to 3p to see the road and building better. suddenly i see a body laying in the middle of the road. from far off he looked dead/unconsious. he was pointing one direction as i ran along a wall to get a better look. i see him change directions and aim due north. so i get into a corner of wall and talk on mic. 'Hello, do you need help?' nothing. 'hey guy in the road, did you get shot by a sniper?' still nothing i try in the chat, and keep trying on the mic. nothing. byu this time i think he is afk. OR glitched onto the ground and decynced from far away. so i make the decision to kill him. he is fully geared with a gorka helmet, so i know a head shot is possible but unlikely(for some blasted reason i didnt pull out my akm to shoot the guy so i pulled out my axe) i zig zag on the road and get closeer to him, trying to not stay put too long in case the sniper was his friend. i try the mic one last time before swinging the axe down. Mid swing he wakes up and starts shooting me. he also has an ak of some sort but silenced. my axe hits his head and his 3 shots knock me unconsious. then without hearing another shot.... 'You are Dead' awesome. i hope he has a masive headache i respawn in Cap Glovana and start looting the nearby buildings when i hear 'hey buddy' totally crapped my pants i turn around and its a fresh spawn. 'oh hey you scared me!' 'hey sorry. you gonna be freindly?' 'yea no worries, im friendly, just died and looking for revenge in berenzino' 'hey i have a friend in elektro you wanna run with us?' 'sure!' so after plesantries, pulse checking and a steam add later, im running with Pokercat and Jester. a couple of nice kids who speak clearly, know how to protect one another, know the map, and are pretty cool. we end up killing a fairly geared guy in Elektro at the school, who was acting pretty funny and was a bit twitchy. me and jester stayed hidden and poker took care of him with a shot to the head from quite some distance as the guy was running away. got loaded up with some of his stuff and raided the gurad shack next to the school. by this time all of us were very well geared and feeling good. we headed east to Kamy and bumped into a bambi girl who was on a quest for green clothes. we ran around some buildings and she picked up a coat and beret and we asked her nicely to not follow us ( her mic was super low and she kept trying to make small talk) after we waved our guns at her she ran west to elektro and we turned north to go inland and get away from the coast. raided msta, and staroye where i found a truck and managed to flip it in a bush after about 20 feet of driving. :( (ill post the video later) we blew out the tires and headed to goglovo where we decided to take a break for a while. so very happy to meet nice some decent people for a change. i smell many more adventures coming.
