Lets say if the hit knocked person over and added some sort of visual distraction to him so you could find a way out then it would be nice add since I would likely use it over a lethal weapons. If it knocked people out so you can raid them, well, even though I wouldn't necessarily see it that way, it may save peoples lives. I mean, the victims lose gear but stay alive yet. beans.

If it was added then it sounds to be balanced already. Other than the fact that if such thing will be added, everyone will take your shirt off to see if you have it or not. I would vote yes however.
-
actually the idea of having some weapons with non-lethal ammunition is a great idea. I would vote for this. Like hitting them down for short period of time, maybe add some kind of visual distractinon so enemy couldn't see where you went, so you could find your way out

Only problem it causes is that naive people die in first encounter. And that is not a problem. :)

The concern is understandable but I doubt Dean wants to make game force players for anything. That is the magic of true open-world - players make their own choices and act accordingly. Let's say that you run into a player who claims to be friendly and then kills you. Happens once, blame the player. Happens twice, blame yourself. What I meant was not that the other players changed their tactics but you. You can't force another player to let you live but you can avoid the situation where he can make this choice.

Yeah but no. Chernarus means Black Rus which refers to country that historically was placed where today Ukraine is. In game however, it is not a province of Russia. It is post-soviet country in struggle for its independence, war between government and communist rebels. According to BI, who came up with that fictional country,I get what you mean, though and I would be all hands in if there would be a way to add this feature while not taking away the reality. I am, however, convinced that it couldn't be implemented in such way and I would rather see players making changes to their tactics than see bandits and heroes haveing clear signs which they are that are readable from miles away. If I now try to imagine the real situtaion similar to this, I would never run into stranger with weapon like that expecting them to be friendly. Hell, people kill others for a lot less than a soda can even when there isn't zombie apocalypse, not the mention if there were.
-
At least Dean have called them Infected so far. The zombies came from DayZ name where Z actually stands for Zero not Zombie. The look on the infected and name of game has brought the zombie part in discussions. No confirmation has been that the infected are undead, they are just sick of some sort of disease.

I would like to see drop-down holster and animation that would show character drawing weapon from holster they have on them.
-
That would be actually cool. Stuffing rags into their mouth, not cutting tongues out - we are not maniacs or psycho-killers. Got my beans.
-
They could implement thermal boxes like there are protector cases right now. If you find one from say blood-bank or refrigerator, you could use the box to keep it cool for period of time.

Note that I said Russian machinery. Most of the soviet weaponry and machinery was produced outside of Russia. Many IFVs and APCs and even tanks that ukraine uses, are their own versions produced in ukraine or ones that were origially produced Poland. As for weaponry, Ukraine forces today use large variety of different firearms - besides Russian originated AK-74, Makarov and PKM - to adapt the NATO standard ammunition. That is that and it is my mistake to refer to Ukraine weaponry or armed forces since it really shouldn't be discussed publicly any further. Basically it is similarily to Estonia which started disposal of Russian weaponry and adaption of NATO standard after becoming independent country. It appears that Chernarus is actually reference to todays Ukraine area. From ArmA2 description, it is rather referred as post-soviet country (not part of Russia but Soviet Union) that struggles with communist rebels and is in fight for its independence. I looked up the story behind CDF and you are right for that part, it is purely based on Russian weaponry production, though. Sorry for excessive off-topic.

First off, it is not Russia. Stop saying it is Russia or even reflects the part of Russia because it is not.Secondly, the game just becomes what it is supposed to be. It is not supposed to be mil-sim, it is survival game in which survival comes first and hence is made as realistic as possible. Bloodbagging is absolutely fine in SA which it wasn't in any of the Mods. edit# I think having clothing automatically assigned to you based of if you kill players or not is stupid. No one would wear a sign "I will kill you" in reality.

Stupid double post...

Chernarus is supposedly Czech Republic (well, a copy of the part of it). It was a communist state and part of Soviet Union but at the time we aare looking at in DayZ, this country is not very Russian-friendly and they have very little to none USSR weaponry for themselves. The explanation of Russian forces could be that they tried to stop the outbreak by sending troops in (like US) which is very similar to what happens to Ukraine today (they don't have Russian machinery or weaponry but you can see Russian IFVs and soldiers with their equipment around) minus the virus outbreak, of course.Anyway... For the weapon, I don't see a reason why wouldn't it be in game even though I'd rather see MP5 instead.

Gameplay Mechanics Pt1 - The Player(skills)
SGT. Kalme replied to akafugitive's topic in Suggestions
No as it is not necessary. Your player will gain skills in survival even if the skills system was not there - meaning player behind character learns and gets better. Levels should not determine what you are capable of as with so many different options player himself makes the limits for what he can do. I don't think turning it into an RPG where you have to level yourself to do something would be helpful for gameplay experience. No. -
My opinion is that they shouldn't add any types of IEDs into the game. Maybe because I already search for them as for my job, don't want to do it in dayz as well.
-
Have you read the stories of DayZ called Survivors and Bandits? It's an e-book, sold on amazon. Well, I read the preview of 135 pages and it was freaking awesome. I want single player to be like that if anything.

Except that this lone wolf can't give accurate fire since he doesn't know the target grid for what he needs coordinator who also makes corrections after each shot. And without knowing the maths, he would need reckoner. So, minimum two men if one guy has actually been a reckoner for mortar team. If neither has then they still can't give accurate hit. Lone survivor could shoot it but no way it would be anything close to accurate. You know how it goes. Everyone does. It would be interesting to see but I personally have very little faith in it.

I don't see any attacking you or even being impolite besides you going frenzy over bicycles and zombies-objects collision As you say yourself, they need to fix important things first, then think about adding bicycles and other stuff. Your posts contradict themselves. Give it some time and hope you didn't get robbed for your 30$ like everyone else.

Understandable. I remember my days back in the mod when we had those convoys consisting armored humvees, armored SUVs and other un-armored cars with .50cals on top of them and Venom and BH flying overhead. Didn't really have to worry about anything. Only times when we lost a vehicle or two was when hackers attacked. But that is that. I did not mean to jump in your face yelling "you are a lazy slob". It is understandable most of people would like to sprint around all day long but there are many of us who would sacrifice more time to reach some place just for it to be realistic. God, I would be happy if this game was so realistic that I'd shit my pants every time when logged in. But that is me and my opinion.
-
Yes, of course. If it is possible with as few to none bugs as possible, this is sure go.
-
Isn't that individual choice? You don't have to own any camo and no one is asking you to but let others wear what they want. Being invisible in some environments can save your life (in reality and in game survival). While some people wear all kinds of different camos because it looks cool, some of them actually use it to stay out of sight. on-topic: I do think, however, there could rather be more variety in civilian clothing than camo - already plenty of choices how to blend in basically anywhere.
-
If they removed motion blur, it would be all good for me. This is really distracting.
-
Why do people only think about how it would be easier to play a game? I, honestly, don't share the love for vehicles. I find it much more pleasant to walk through the beautiful countryside, see all the stuff myself and make this whole another adventure. It is so short-sighted to think vehicles will be Gods gift. You are more likely survive on foot than on bicycle. Cars are still far away, shouldn't even think about that yet.
