    Removing the Bolt/Bolt Group for weapons

    Well in reality I guess the gun is simply taken. But we cannot simply take another mosin and another pistol and another sawed of shotgun...not even mentioning double yielding here. There are plenty of examples in reality of making larger weapons that you cannot simply carry unusable by taking a smaller integral part of it, like sabotaging smaller artillary or such. The real life thing simply does not work because of our inventory.

    That's not really a good answer, the idea has it's reasoning behind it and if you figure out, how a weapon cleaning set works, you also know how to remove a bolt group. Especially military weapons are easy to take apart. The destruction of a weapon seems acceptable, too, if you have an axe or a hammer, you don't need to hack the thing in two, just dent or block movable parts. I like both options, but they should take some time. Here's to celebrating the day, when animations stop when you cancel an action and you can start doing something like taking back out a weapon immediatelly...
  3. The amount of "container" clothes is growing. At this point we have: - the basic dude (melee weapon and rifle on back, shoes, gloves...) - boonie hat (fishhook) - upper body wear - vests, chestholster - pants - boots (knife) - backpack Hopefully I did not forget anything. Maybe more will follow. Those items are differently well suited to carry certain things in. I would never put something for me really important in the vest or upper body wear because of zeds, or getting shot. Pants are also out (again getting shot or the funny whatsitcalled? instant trouser combustion that gets you, usually when you leave the ground floor...) Basically all my important stuff is in my backpack. Yes, I spread out things like rags and splints/morphine, but generally, that's it. Assuming you have all of the listed above, you will scroll quite a bit in the inventory, to even get to your backpack. In normal gameplay it is simply a stupid task, but in firefights, it might even be an unneccesary waste of time. I would like to be able to rearrange my clothes (for example simple drag and drop) to a custom order. I would start with boonie hat and military boots to the bottom. As I usually only cary food in my top wear, that would also go down, but that's just me. It would allow us to have our "basic" slots like hoody, pants and backpack always at the same spot where we are used to it instead of being moved down by boots or hats that force us to scroll. If this is not possilbe at all, "custom" containers that don't need to be readily available like boonie hat and boots for knifes could still be moved to the bottom of the inventory list, but I can't see a loss if authenticity with making the inventory more accessible by rearanging it compared to the current system.

    That's not reverting back, that's a new placeholder. It's in in experimental and you can hit zeds quite well in houses with weapons now, because you basically get a hit where you aim at the end of the animation. Before that whole swings were registered. In houses that usually resulted in you hitting walls and such. EDIT: you can read about that in the current dev blog.

    In experimental I needed three hits with a Makarov to kill a hopper. All three shots connected. I think somewhere someone wrote that military zeds are getting twice the hitpoints of normal zeds. My splitting axe often needs two hits, too. I see a problem with making them harder right now though. Especially melee is currently too random, but also firefights suffer in the given states. An extreme example was a guy shooting me while looking 90° to my felt. The zeds currently not ok: - their hit area is problematic to say the least - they hit through walls, through floors,... - I think that when you close a zed in a room and hits in your direction once more, it sometimes will continue hitting and you will be damaged until you leave the house - or something like that - Usually zeds turn to you, before they attack. Sometimes they don't, hit in a different direction and hit you anyway. Especially funny when hoppers jump away from you and hit you. - And have you looked at hoppers, when they turn? They slide around on the floor. - In experimental I died after closing in four zeds in a garage. Then I fought 2 outside and all of a sudden the four run at me and join the fight again. The navmesh is not at 100% yet. - Line of sight of zeds seems to me like it is not working yet either. That's just what I can think of right now. A lot of these things probably have to do with client-server synchronisation. I have a dream! I have a dream of fluent melee (and also firefights). I have a dream of controlling a responsive character and facing responsive zeds in fights where you can win with skill, the environment works and randomness vanishes in the background. The current circling where you basically evade zeds by using their delayed reaction that everyone uses is not really a satisfactory melee experience after some time. I think that zeds should first reach a level of quality before worrying about their hitpoints. Btw a hit with a fireaxe usually also puts a player down. In the current experimental I died twice because of zeds and once because of players, they spawn like crazy and hoppers are a pain in the butt. I don't think zeds need to be harder until the new melee system is added in the game.

    In that case I would say suspicious, but it could still be legit. Maybe there was some extreme lag like when a zombie hits you and it does not register for a few seconds. That might have been enough to get you unconscious. Now even if you were finished of later and the guy was down, you might have been finished off by his buddy that you did not see who had the same gun. Not saying it was definitely no hacking, but all those possibilities. I once got shot in the back entering a barrack and still managed to run all the way back to the last room. Then I went unconscious...there was a window before the blood loss and shock got me of maybe 3 seconds, but that was a while ago. I can only advise you to record all your gameplay, analysing vids later is interesting and you see a lot of mistakes you make that you did not realise in the game itself, so it might even teach you something. And you could now watch it and maybe see your hits. Currently ppl are claiming that there is no typical god mode, that all cheaters can be killed. Think I read that at least the last days. I did not kill a lot of ppl with the AKM, but until now two hits in the upper body always put them down. The first time I had an AKM a guy with an SKS appeared about 1m in front of me, he put (probably) ten bullets in my direction, I sprayed 30 rounds at him, he turned around, ran away, I turned around, ran away while reloading and then looked back, never saw him again, we both lived. BUT I SPRAYED the whole mag, you say you aimed... .

    Did you aim or use hip fire? When using hip fire, you don't see how the gun goes up from recoil when spraying. You will maybe hit the first, if lucky the second shot, that's it. You need to pause and fire again after a pause to allow the gun to go back to where you aim. May seem silly, but one big akm spray will usually not kill anyone, at least from my experience. Even on short distance, I try not to create salves of more than 2 shots.

    Concerning Grimey Rick, well that explains how his astmatic female char survived for months ;). Just kidding. Either way, it's funny how everyone here in the past always told those complaining about being banned without cheating to stop lieing and p*** off. Now we have a prominent member of this forum banned, a god of surval that seems generally well liked and BAM!: "What's going on??? Battleeye sucks!!! Not Rickybaby!!!" Now I don't know how this will end, but I would say that those that report hacking sites to Accolyte or BE are in most cases not those that cheat themselves - if you actually did report such a site ;). Either way, I believe in the existance of false positives (general hazard with my education). But as I don't know exactly how Battleeye works, I'll say it can be extremely unlikely to have false positives. Concerning the proof, it is their policy not to tell ppl why they got banned - understandale. So I doubt you will get an exact answer there, Ricky. I'll stick with my plan to buy Arma 3 on a different steam account.

    Renaming game modes is a bad idea

    What you call "...the "Hardcore" player who aims for realism authencity and roleplay and then the "Regular" player who often plays casually and likes the PVP aspect of the game more than the survival aspect" are simply not divided like that. I hate 3pp, that's it. Imo it it is a crutch that results in many undesireable effects in pvp, the worst in breaching houses (seeing someone coming in, lining up the shot,...), camping on roofs (totally invisible),...you get the picture. Even when both opponents see each other, it often results in the one dying that decides to move first, it creates stalemates you don't have when you need to show your head to look around. I hate it so much, I would probably not even play DayZ any more if it were not for 1pp only servers. I want the exact same game, only restricted to 1pp. That's it. A "real" hardcore is such a thing. Forcing me into funny things like "real" hardcore is not something I want simply to have my beloved 1pp only. What will that "real" hardcore be? No cursor for aiming? Great! There is one guy I know who plays BF3 hardcore - non cursor. And what does he do? Mark the middle of his screen with a thread. Wonderful, now he is using a cheat that neither Battleeye or VAC will ever find that gives him an extreme advantage. Nevertheless I read several times here that ppl want that in the "real" hardcore, so it is more realistic. No, thank you. I don't want to mark the middle of my screen and be a cheater OR have an extreme disadvantage because I refuse to do so. Maybe hardcore will be something I will love, don't know, it's all speculation. But again, I want the normal game in 1pp only, too. Every single one of our "First Person" players - thank god for the rename - simply hates 3pp because of what it does in PvP. Ok, admittedly there is one who enjoys both. And not one of those "First Person" players has ever said anything like "oooh, I'm so excited for when hardcore gets real hardcore and I can fulfill all my hardcore roleplaying fantasies and go all realistic/authentic in the woods". I had real trouble getting hardcore players for our group, several regular players asked, what all those things are that make it harder and were supprised when no 3pp was the only thing. Not everyone, even ppl that play many hours and know the game, spends all his/her time on forums and asks all those weird questions like we do. Many just play the game (like most do with other games) and never even try that "elitist" hardcore mode that is obviously there for those strange super-freaks. And that is, what would solve all the problems for me, BEANS YOU GET FOR STATING THE (actually quite obvious) SOLUTION! Well, the swapping char thing is not really neccessary though... EDIT: Sorry if this is too ranty, but for me it seems neccessary. The idea of playing normal DayZ meaning being forced to accept 3pp makes my blood boil.

    Actually I'm not sure about stable, in experimental you sprint in the stance you have selected, not standing up any more. A new sprinting with the gun in aggressive stance has been added, too. So that is comming. I just hope sprinting with looking down sights will also come. They seem to change a lot with the user interface currently.

    Does the game become worse every update?

    The devblog says that melee is messed up because they are moving it from being scripted into the main program. 0.48 has a placeholder, but you also got to get used to that. AND NOT ONE person tells him that he can close zeds into houses now. Does not work with all houses, mostly the smaller ones. Run in, let the zed come in, run out, close the door fast enough, and remember if it works for the house. And move away fast, because the have long reach, also through walls. NEVER start building trains of zeds that follow you!

    I only hunt pigs for the pelt -> improv. leather backpack. Not that I find a boar whenever I want. The problem in saving the pig is that I can't make that backpack out if other animals pelts. In 0.48 I tried deer, not working. Have not tried a cow since 0.46, but it will probably also not work. WE DEMAND THE ABILITY TO CREATE IMRPOVISED LEATHER BACKPACKS FROM ALL PELTS! THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A CONSPIRACY OF THE DEVELOPERS AGAINST THIS WONDERFUL "SAVE THE PIG" MOVEMENT! IMMEDIATE ACTIONS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN!

    Yes. ^^ That's how. I made a thread about that after resetting my key assignmets to default - I think I read somewhere that that should be done with 0.47 when it was in experimental: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/206248-key-assignments-2xw-for-turbo-not-working/ It's funny that assigning 2xw to Turbo does not work, but assigning it to Fast Forward works. PLEASE, if someone figures out, what the difference between Turbo and Fast Forward is, tell me!
  15. I got a buddy who regularly used a compass and then some coins to autorun from Krasno to Balota. He then made food, ate, smoked, ... . He never got killed or lost anything. Thinking about how many hours he saved, I'd say even dieing once or twice would not even make that autorunning a bad thing, unless you consider running through woods where absolutely no one is as entertainable as going through hotspots. I do it, too, but I sit back in my chair and stay at the pc. AND I think sacriel once complained about Dean sticking a coin into his keyboard for autorunning and leavin the pc. Don't aks me for the vid, it's long in the past. And if Dean does it ;). My guess is also that you went swimming, you might have gone a little too far left somewhere or hit one of the ponds there. Does anyone know if you keep running after getting knocked out without pressing w again? The only disturbing thing here is the poop. Why do we need that information? "I was akf for a few minutes" is plenty of info, why include the poop things?

    I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

    It is highly dependant on the keyboard... a few coins, a paper clip... . I have a keyboard with very low keys, like a notebook keyboard. I use two batteries, one under the keyboard to make it even, one stands on the w key. With higher keys, sticking some paper or a pick like LigerRider might be easier, does not work with mine.

    Now I never hid a tent anywhere in the few hours I played the mod, but if we get more towns, just where am I supposed to hide anything? It's not just tents, think about zucchini fields, ... EDIT: Oh, and isn't extended barricading adding completely new buildings that should remain hidden, too? What about other wilderness stuff like fishing? I fear there will be only a few ponds left that are not really close to towns at some point...
  18. WOBO made a good video on youtube about how far zeds see, hear shots, .... the science of zombies or something like that. If I remeber correctly zeds hear all guns equally far, I think 100 meters. But the amphibia in heavy rain can not be heard from other players at about 30 or 50 meters, tested that. Gg on zed solutions, I love zed bowling on hills.

    In pc repairs you see funny things like Daddy bringing in his pc because the hdd is so full but he only has little data on it. And then he tells you that he has to take his son somewhere and then you find a hidden folder somewhere...kids these days...
  20. When reading this thread my thoughts always come back to one thing: Barricading the door of the nwaf ATC and putting a tent on top of it, but I somehow doubt it will fit up there.

    You're all doing it wrong. Ingame torture is not torture but fun - well I hope it will be when someone finally tortures me...at this point I believe someone handcuffing ppl or all that other stuff is an urban legend. That's how you torture in DayZ: - figure out the other players ip - hack into his computer - delete the porn

  24. Dudes, how I would like to have such player interaction? NOT ONCE have I been handcuffed, held prisoner, anything, just killing, killing, killing and sometimes pulling through. Gimme a imminent torture session, please! Certainly does not seem to be such a waste of time compared to running alone through the woods... EDIT: Just remembered, once I was gunned down on the nwaf, talked to the guys for a few minutes. They bandaged me, took my mosin, gave me a replacement FNX for the ruined one....I woke up later, went to grishino, found a new Mosin...all good. Sounds like the same tears and anger combat logging causes. A challange! Embrace it!
