Experimental Branch: 0.48 Discussion

Can the server administrators please fix the reboot-looping DayZ US Southwest 0-1 (Experimental/Testing) and DayZ US Southwest 0-5 (Experimental/Testing). These are the only 2 Third Person servers on the West Coast. -

I'm going to have to agree. I've traveled around the entire map multiple times andI have not run across a single Ammo Box on any of the Military installations. I sure wish I had a pedometer. -
Wolf-mask, or any mask for that matter, is instant KoS by me.

My strategy is to strafe-circle around them in a counter-clockwise direction, aiming for their lower-neck/back area. -
Sometimes reintroducing an item in to the inventory, like at lowest-right-hand corner, sometimes reveals the rest of the hidden items.

Tell us what Experimental server you're on and I'll gladly play there. Maybe we'll meet up and have a grand time! -

You appear to be sensitive to other players posting about this lovely gem of a game and I'm sorry that you are this way. I think I will continue to post about DayZ Standalone. Maybe there's another game for you, as well? Simple, wasn't it? -

If you want starvation like you would encounter in a Post-Apocalyptic world, adding the realism of the time it takes to pick an apple and fail at gathering (which is completely unrealistic)… Well, then please fight to have the following in-game: Have broken bones take months to heal! Have morphine do nothing to fix broken bones. Have sewing kits take many minutes to fix minor damage. Have bodily functions happen constantly after eating food and drinking liquids. There are multitudes of other unrealistic parts of the game that would make this game too time consuming if they were set more realistic. That kind of game would be extremely unappealing to play. I have over 800+ hours in this game and I can even see that there needs to be some time balance considerations integrated into this game. I’m not talking about FPS, at all. I’m talking about valuable human free-time here, people. If you want to develop a game where you can starve to death picking apples and run through looted towns looking through the useless crap others have thrown away, more power to you! I want to make sure that the developers know that is the wrong direction to take. That can be more of a focus for PVE server admins. -

You do realize that I'm clearly communicating about the current DayZ Standalone Alpha Experimental version .48, hence the name of the forum, "Experimental Patch Discussion"? This forum, and in particular this very thread, is not for pointing out the very obvious state of development of this game, as it is already very clear to everyone commenting in this thread. If you dislike seeing people comment about their DayZ Standalone Experimental Patch experiences then I suggest you stop reading through these threads in a forum clearly designed for such comments. -
It's a problem with the handling of audio, in general. It's not only zombie sounds that are sometimes heard globally. It's also item sounds, like opening soda. Action sounds, like eating food or drinking. Player sounds, like in-game voice communication. Working with other team-mates on Vent, we all heard all of these types of global sounds at the same time. The most entertaining being a random player telling the entire server he's heading to Berezino. It's really annoying and consistent on full servers.

Yeah, picking apples because I'm starving to death is how I want to spend my free-time playing this survival game. @.@ Currently, I think the lack of good loot respawning is a huge issue. These Experimental servers should be packed like they were not too long ago. No one wants to login to run for hundreds of kilometers and find only crap loot. The hit-box or lag issue, whatever it is, needs to be fixed. I can't tell you how many times my axe visibly has gone through a zombies head and torso and no damage is taken. Yet, I can clearly be behind a zombie and take their damage. Pretty frustrating. -

I haven't seen loot cycle piles in this new .48 exp update. Care to elaborate? -
Why are most the Stable servers on my favorites list constantly restarting?

In a post-apocalyptic world, the prevailing survival tactic will be banditry. If you really want to know what it will be like, search Anthony-Kongphan on youtube and watch his PVP videos. Not only is it the best DayZ PVP to watch, but it will also give those that do not wish to survive in this fashion a keen look into the world of banditry. Think about it. It will be easier for survivors to hunt others that collect items than to collect the items themselves. Don’t get me wrong, I understand Escape-and-Evade. The desire to live is a powerful! I can appreciate being friendly and have ran across many players that were friendly. But after being killed countless times, I’ve come to accept the reality of banditry. The best way to understand this is to watch those that are the best at it. You will see their tactics and learn how to avoid these types of survivors: Stay away from the cities! Besides, watching his Twitch Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/anthony_kongphan/ is pretty damn entertaining. It’s mostly large clan-versus-clan PVP, but the Hunter-Prey aspect of DayZ Standalone is all there. It really is the best PVP I’ve seen.

Well, I just logged out of DayZ Southwest 0-4 Experimental Hardcore and a couple of players were doing this exact relocation of loot to force respawns at Veresnik Military Base. I was wondering why I started to lag when I approached the compound, Once I saw the scene I was heart-broken. Headed to Green Mountain and someone was doing it there, but I didn't see anyone there. With the persistence of items, it could have been an old spot for these same players.

Most of the DayZ US Experimental servers appear to be stuck in a persistent state of rebooting.
-
The immersion I experienced today was so great! The persistent objects seems to live through the many server reboots. I felt as if I was traveling through a town stripped bare by hundreds of hidden souls that I couldn't see. Yet, I could see evidence that they were in fact there and I had only missed them by minutes. I felt the hunger burn through me. I was going to die if I didn't find food. And then I got bored of looking at all of the old, crappy bambi loot everyone dumped that seemed to survive the server reboots. Man, talk about the last thing I want persisting. Gah!
-
Spent hours running around checking empty buildings, picking apple trees that mostly returned nothing, and punching zombies because there was no melee weapons to find. Yeah, I love immersion as much as the next guy, but those hours were not fun. I feel like I wasted every single minute of the playing time I set aside for this game this weekend.
-
Don't worry. Death comes easy in this game. I think I've died more to fire station ladders than any single player. It's just harder the longer your character lives. That's for sure!

Well, just joined DayZ US Southwest 0-4 Experimental, which just recently restarted, i joined at 3:03PM, and had only two other players with *** (actual asterisks) as their clan tag. Had all my my gear and weapons removed. WTH?! Immedaitely exited. This is totally unacceptable! Wasn't there new anti-hacking measures announced for this experimental release?
-
The slowness of the tactical pose, especially with a melee weapon, is terrible! Please change this! I should be able to avoid zombies hitting me by strafing, but since this change, I move like molasses now.

Check out http://www.dayztv.com/news/2014/07/dayz-turning-bohemia-interactive-studios-giant/ written by Pitstop Head. Bohemia Interactive is a giant thanks in part to DayZ Standalone and will continue to develope this game. So, don't fret and smack your friend for spreading terrible rumors.
-
It sounds like you're actually hitting tree like you would a Zombie by swinging your axe. You need to scroll over tree and hit your "Use" key, which for me is the "F" key. You should not hear any sounds when you chop a tree this way.

I had my very geared out Hardcore character die to a camper. No problem. Respawn. Spend a few hours gearing up followup character. KOS as an unarmed bambi. Died. No problem. Respawn. Spend many more hours gearing up another character and then have a hacker on the server remove all of my gear and ammo with-in a few seconds. Now we have a huge issue. This issue drives me crazy! Where's Bohemia Interactive on this? There are so many great examples on these forums and videos on youtube you can watch all day. What's the point of paying and playing for an Alpha-stage game, yes I understand and completely accept that it's still being developed, when these hackers wipe your progress instantly? All of the hours spent designing every aspect of this beautiful game will be wasted away when you have these hackers ruining the gaming experince. Here's the kicker! The player I suspect, since the server was pretty empty, has their Steam Profile avatar blantently displaying the hacking application. Unreal. Please provide of method to report suspected hackers, since it doesn't seem proper posting their Steam profile here publicly.
