Servers restarting without warning
dayzdeadmeat replied to Mattolio (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Our server gives a 5 min countdown before each reboot. -
Pretty sure Rocket put this in just to troll the forum.
-
+1 As much as I like my stuff, anti-hacker addons (even if they mean a full wipe) > l33t gear.
-
Just an FYI - please make sure you notify the hosting companies with installation instructions. Managed servers like ours only have a web interface to install staged patches. I'm guessing this won't fit their normal scripts.

Mine. Stay the hell off. :P

I can log in my server and join the game just fine. My character is visible in 1st person, invisible in 3rd person.
-
If you end up doing a limited release, we've got a large group of regular players that give great feedback. ;)

Anyone that can clue me on what these settings do? shadingQuality=7; shadowQuality=3; sceneComplexity=300000; viewDistance=1600; terrainGrid=25; People have complained that our server night time is much darker than other servers (and provided screen shots as examples - below). Just looking for some options. Our Server Other Server

Bugs first, but devs need entertainment or they stop dev'ing.

How about every time you log into a server, it starts a 15 minute counter. Until the counter is finished, you can only pick up loot _from that server_. If you log to another server, you can't get loot until the first timer is up, then a timer starts _for that server_. It wouldn't stop server hopping for loot, but it would make it tedious enough that 90% of the current hoppers wouldn't spend the time.

Can you please elaborate? It might be because of me not being a native english speaker' date=' but I can't find the meaning of your post. Also. what is this 'lawl' of which you speak? [/quote'] You need to speek "idiot" to translate a lot of what shows up here. :-/

Is there any ETA for tackling this cheat/hack tool?
-
Yes. Don't get so married to your gear.

Put a mini (1 slot) tent in everyone's backpack. Right click tent, 5 sec logout, gear is stored. Any disconnect other than using the tent, and you end up on the beach with a flashlight. It will solve the DC issue, and people will avoid buggy servers. :)

Server admins log in with a M107, ghillie suit, and M1911. But its something we don't talk about much.

The Potential Problematic Future of DayZ Server Hosting
dayzdeadmeat replied to Ilumination's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I agree with most of what has been written on behalf of the server owners. I bought one so my friends could have a stable place to call home. We don't kick to make room for our group. I don't kick to let myself on. I'm fairly confident if I need to kick/ban someone and have a reasonable explanation, I'm not going to get kicked to the curb by the Dev team. Lets face it, they need server owners more than individual whiney players. That being said, I agree that the default assumption of guilty (whether real or perceived) on the forums is pitiful. And the development team confirms it daily by not speaking out against it (even in generalities). -
Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)
dayzdeadmeat replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
This occurred in the 1.7.1.2 update and I don't see it listed/fixed here. During last town firefight, pressing "R" to reload my M1911 did not change to a new magazine until the current magazine was empty (previous, "R" loaded a full magazine or one with the highest round count). -
Are BERCon and ArmA RCon insufficient?

How much control do server hosts have?
dayzdeadmeat replied to Spadis's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Did you consider that ensuring all servers are run in the same way creates a stable, reproducable test environment for this _alpha_ development project? If/when this goes beta or gold, you may get the chance to host your own server with your own rules. You may not. But for now, it is what it is. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.1.2 Rolling Update
dayzdeadmeat replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Our server indicates version 1.7.1.2 (set by host), yet players logging in with 1.7.1.2 are warned it is 1.7.1.1. I did not update the server. I've alerted the host, but I'm not sure if there is something in the update that would disrupt their normal scripts. -
Well, my server is up and running @ HFB, but I can't find any way to set the preferred options like 3DP or CH. Google archive turned up a link to a thread here discussion the .cfg file, but it appears to be deleted. Where do server admins get their configuration info?

Was the recent change in survivor's motivations affected by the community or Rocket?
dayzdeadmeat replied to kilozombie's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bottom line - is this a ZA game with pvp thrown in/allowed, or is it a death match game with zombie obstacles? I'm assuming Rocket has/will decide(d) and will drive it in that direction. I'm hoping for a ZA game with co-op & pvp capabilities. There are a bazillion DM games out there, with much better engines. -
